I stayed at the Gables Inn because I was attending some of the Home Coming events at the univeristy of Miami. When I attended the University I knew of the Gables Inn and that was why I chose it. Time gives into age. It was a nice stay but I would have rather been in a more up todate hotel.

Its location on US 1. No mention was made that a room refrigerator could be rented. This is a small hotel on busy US 1 near Riviera St. It is modest, but clean, and the continental breakfast was nice. Staff was nice.

If you are looking for a hotel that is close to the University of Miami, with clean rooms, this is the place to stay. The breakfast was nice too. My only criticism would be that they could have gone to some trouble to install soundproof windows. we enjoyed our short visit. Not a place for an extended stay.

Our story begins with trying to awaken the hotel clerk to let us in. The sign said Open 24 hours; ring bell for service. We spent at least an hour banging on the door to awaken the attendant to check in. In the end, it was banging on the key drop door that the attendant heard and let us in. When we entered the room, it smelled of heavy chlorine. The bathroom door was falling off and the bathtub was rusty. At all times of the day, there were people hanging around the exterior of the building smoking. The hotel computer was not in working order. The location was good.

1"" pillows, water shooting up to the ceiling from the shower and flooding the floor (no way to change the shower head), lots of traffic noise, high pitched sound all night long from the laundry, decent breakfast, helpful staff to change room, still not much improvement. Wouldn't stay here again.
