This is typically a business traveler hotel. It's conveniently located and my wife and I stay there often, but only because it's close to my parents house. Two cars were vandalized (one right next to our car) on this recent trip. Security is not evident. Do not leave anything unattended in your car. Room was reasonably clean; service was fine.

I generally stay at Sheratons, but the other choices closer in to San Diego were understandably booked up. Having come down for a wedding at the Naval Base I wanted a reliable hotel I could use as my base and then travel to the wedding, then stay an extra couple days while in the area. However, the Four Points Hotel San Diego is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Unless you have a car, there is absolutely nothing to do other than the pool. Even then, everything is a considerable drive. I would not recommend this hotel for families traveling with children, or who flew in. There is absolutely nothing within walking distance, and the hotel provides nothing other than the (very nice) pool. One night I ate at the restaurant, and in terms of value for money, it was not worth it. Again, if traveling with kids you would have to leave the premises. Additionally, although I was the only patron in the restaurant I had to wait for a menu, wait to have my order taken, and then sit with used plates. The hotel is also laid out most curiously. The door to the swimming pool is apparently a secret, since it says "Stairs" rather than "Pool", and only once one opens the door does the Pool sign become apparent. Same thing with the bar. The entrance is through a peculiar glass door which looks for all intents and purposes like someone's office. Outlets in my room did not work, and apparently they were "remodeling". Next time I will simply book earlier for one of the downtown hotels.

Under major renovations, saws and fumes until evening. New furniture, beds, linens, but bathroom tub did not hold water or turn off completely. Majority of cable TV channels were sports and news, very disappointing and cable box kept charging for movies we never watched. Housekeeping forgot to leave towels, phone, microwave and lamps were not plugged into outlets. The only mirror with an electrical outlet near was in the bathroom. Room service and toiletries in shop were extremely overpriced. Staff was very helpful, maps and written directions to local attractions; mall with variety of restaurant choices within 2 miles. Pool was well maintained, large hot tub.

Website did not specify or give option to chose non-smoking room. Upon check-in, advised only one smoking room available. Room reeked like a casino and my wife is VERY allergic. Hotel staff unwilling to help and very rude. Problem was with Sheraton website not being specific. In either case, I will use other means next time to schedule a hotel stay because I would rather stay home than have another stay like this one.

You do not want to stay at the Four Points Hotel San Diego. The hotel is being renovated and they have bed, desk, chairs, cabinets, etc. in the hall ways! It will be a nice hotel when the renovations are complete but in the mean time, if you want a nice vacation, this is not the hotel. I felt like I was in the middle of a HGTV or Extreme Makeover episode. The entire place is a remodeling zone. They do a very, very poor job renovating while still accommodating the guest.

For the rates We received a room with peeling wall paper on all walls, a toilet that my wife could not flush without me lifting the lid and jiggling the mechanism which was held with black duct tape. Can you imagine this for a 120.00 a night room? Tub looked 80 years old and lots of noise throughout the night..could not sleep.
