We traveled with our children (15, 20 & 23) and did the all-inclusive option. We had 3 rooms - Jr Suites, next to each other (103-105). They're oceanfront - beautfiful view! Worked out great - the patio is shared. The rooms were nice - all had a few "glitches" but nothing major. Food was hit or miss, but there was always something decent to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the Flamingo staff was great - all very friendly, helpful and service oriented.

Average food, able to upgrade to ocean front, able to check in early in the day well before the usual 3:00 PM

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin with the Flamingo "Resort". Absolutely everything about this place, with the exception of the beds and swimming pool, was terrible. The worst part was definitely the quality of service. The people at the front desk barely spoke English (so luckily I speak Spanish) and when they did attempt to answer your questions, they were rude and treated us like we were idiots. The last thing you want after you've saved up to finally take a vacation is to be treated like this. We were forced to wear wristbands that said "Flamingo Cancun Resort and Plaza" but when we went to the "Plaza" across the street we were not permitted to bring one six pack of beer back into the hotel. We were escorted to the front desk like criminals and reprimanded for even thinking of bringing beverages into the hotel. We were obligated to buy everything at the resort- which doesn't make sense because why would they associate themselves with the Plaza across the street? They do have a store at the Flamingo Resort but the woman there set her own exchange rate (12 pesos to $1 when the real exchange rate was 14 pesos) to rip you off. We had to walk around with a calculator to make sure we weren't taken advantage of. The one time we ate at the restaurant (we didn't go back after this) they made our daiquiris with tequila instead of rum. When we complained, the bartender came out and started yelling at us and pouring rum into our drinks asking if it was good enough yet. I hope I never have to interact with such rude employees who are supposedly in the hospitality business. Do not put yourself through this during your visit to Mexico.

I would have to agree with the other reviewers, this place was great for meeting new friends includind some of the staff. however it did seem as though the policy was geared more towared saving booze than return customers. Starting with a beach bar that doesn't allow beach wear, a pool bar that is only accessable by swim up or a maze like gaunlet, don't try to bring back drinks for more than 2 people in your party, there is not a wait staff at the pool or beach, and lets not forget the totally dilluted drinks. However the small size of the hotel is goodfor getting around, the staff was great. I did notice that house keeping was a little off, and managent could work on hospitallity policy with minor fixes and better beds the Flamingo could be a solid four Star resort

It was great from the moment that we got there. We did have like any other stay a couple of issues. First when we got there they had the wrong reservation date so we had to pay for an extra day. No big deal to us. What bugged us the most was that the toilet was broken. If anything was put in it, it wouldnt flush! It took at least 5 flushes before it would disappear. We call the maintance man and he didnt understand what we were saying. So we just let it go. But other than that it was perfect! We had an amazing view. The employees were always cleaning wherever we looked. We were right across the street from many resturants, hot spots, and shops. I would recommend this place because it is cheap but feels like a 4 star resort!

Old hotel (6th floor is updated and nicer but no balconies) Very loud, if you have a room to the street Loud animation at the inner pool NO beach at all (Wilma 2005) All in all a place to sleep, but no place to spend vacations

the hotel needs heavy insulation for the rooms. the stay was good but the noise from the street traffi and the lound music from the bar/disco across the street from the hotel really made you stay up or you will need more than just earsplugs. Yet, location is good for the area. ice bags were available most of the day since we have no ref in the rooms. Also, by accident, probably, got the "free parking" for my rental car with just need to show the braclet, which was awesome. Stil, I would not stay at FlamingoCancun Resort again if i would have visit Cancun again.

We have been staying at the Flamingo for eight years and are always met with warmest greetings. Everyone there remembers you when you return. The hotel and staff are very family oriented and goes above and beyond to make sure you fell at home. The rooms are always very clean and everyday when you return to your room you will have a new surprise on your bed and in your bathroom. It is amazing the things the maids can do with towels and wash clothes. They make beautiful flowers also. The time they spend in making your room warm and inviting. The employees at the Flamingo are the warmest, friendliest people we have every met. The food at the hotel is very good, and seems to get better each year, plus you always have a large variety of foods to choose from. You can eat pool side and it is very good. Two resturants, one next to the pool and the other on the beach. We have met many people from other states there and they always return from year to year as we do. It is almost like having a reunion when we go there because of all the friends that we have made over the years. If you want a family like atmosphere where you always feel safe than the Flamingo Cancun is the place. We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2009 if not sooner.

I think the hotel has the best times in the 70's... No beach, dirty sheets and towels... The price at the hotel shop are very expensive.

First impressions last forever. This hotel (motel) fits better, is very over rated. It's very small and old, it's not a resort. The rooms are decorated with old furniture, the beds are concrete hard, the air conditioning is not that great. There is no iron, coffee maker, security safe in the rooms. The pictures on the advertisement, are nothing to what the actual place is. The beach was swept away by the hurricane. So if you want a beach it's not there. The buffet is a disgrace, with limited options, and breakfast that looks like last night's left overs. All inclusive not worth it at all, since the only place to get a drink is the pool bar, which closes early and the lounge bar, which is open to the small lobby area, and very boring live music nightly. And watered down drinks, unless you pay cash. If you want a cheap stay, it's ok. Otherwise not a good place, very noisy with kids. No place to relax during the day and enjoy your vacation. Time shares are being pushed on you all day long. The staff is for the most part very friendly and speak good english. They appreciate being tipped.

The Flamingo hotel was a huge disappointment. Examples of terrible service include our housekeeping service skipping a day, our request for additional towels ignored, and rudeness at the front desk. The rooms were damp and had several plumbing problems. Also, the walls are paper thin so you hear every person walking down a hallway, the pool music during the day, and the Margaritaville party from across the street at night. The only redeeming quality this hotel has is the beach.

The hotel staff was extremely helpful, as were the travel guides at the hotel. Although we didn't book services through them, because we had never traveled to Cancun before, they were able to ensure that we made our horseback riding and day trip to the ruins when our contact fell through. The all inclusive program is great and definitely worth while. The food was good, although we preferred the smaller restaurant on the beach for lunch and dinner as the indoor restaurant was a little fancy for our taste. Although we expected more traditional Mexican food, everything we ate there was delicious. The breakfast buffet was great as well. Our room was lovely with an excellent view of the beach. The beach chairs were a little uncomfortable, but the ones by the pool were good. Overall a really stellar first trip. We hope to return to Cancun soon for another vacation and will likely stay at the Flamingo again.

We've stayed at many of the larger hotels, but our oceanview room was large and clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.(special thanks to X at front desk)Pool areas were small but very clean. The location on the strip was perfect.Only fallback is that there is no beach to lay or walk on.To gain access to beach, you must go to next door hotel.By which you can access easily.A great value for the money.Would definitely go back again.Good and reasonable place for breakfast is Sanborns cafe across the street.

They made us wear the band at all time, even when we go tanning at the beach. The rooms are small and has a damp smell to it. Room is also old, rusty and dirty. They only allow 2 people per room, we have to pay 45/day for the third person. For those who gave this hotel a 5 stars, I do'nt think they know what a 5 stars hotel should be like.

This is our third time at the flamingo. We always enjoy staying there; it is an easy walk to the Isla or Kulkukan malls and other restaurants. This is the first time we tried the Junior Suite and were pleasantly surprised. The bathrooms had been redone and we had a King Size bed with an ocean view, very quiet. The staff was super efficient - we would leave for breakfast and come back and the room was already done. They added 2 computer stations that you can use for 15 min. at a time for email which was very handy. Beach access is also very handy, as is the pool and fitness room. I don't recommend the all-inclusive because you get tired of the same buffet. We also eat at the Albatross onsite restaurant and had a great meal and an interesting Mexican red wine. Service was very good too. Our first trip to the Flamingo was just after the hurricane in 2005 and our stay was great then and even better now. Can't beat the price either. We would highly recommend it for lower budget stays without hesitation. They have also added a timeshare presentation to the resort next door which you may want to go see. It is typical of most of the timeshare presentations. We plan to go back again this year, perhaps in December (our trip was in January).

Cancun was not my favorite place to vacation, but it was still fun. The Flamingo is not your typical resort. The rooms are small and are comparable to a La Quinta or Days Inn. The beds are really hard and the air conditioner never gets really cool. The staff was ok, but the restaurant service wasn't so great. Breakfast is definitely the best meal of the day. It is a buffet but there is some varienty from day to day. Only about half of the staff spoke English. Margarittaville, Outback and a few other restaurants are across the street as well as a small shopping mall and a pharmacy. The hotel is about 1-2 miles from the other clubs. the easiest way to get there was by bus and itonly cost 7.5 pesos. we walked back severl times, and the walk isn't too bad either. Defiitely learn the currency and the exchange rate because the locals will try to cheat you!

Situated right on the beach, oceanside, this hotel was friendly, responsive, and lovely. Although not a luxury property by any means, it had all we wanted in a Cancun hotel: stunning beach view, easy access to the bus and other restaurants, and a very attentive staff. The employees made it a pleasure to stay there. The pillows were lumpy, so I would probably take my own next time; the bed was, as other reviews have said, hard, but not at all uncomfortable. But the restaurant coffee--from Chiapas--was divine! All in all, it was peaceful and relaxing, the food was dependably good (especially the fish), and we would go back in a minute. And it was very safe there--all service workers in Cancun are eager to go out of their way to please tourists during this huge lull in their economy; they are hurting financially, so please TIP GENEROUSLY whenever deserved! You'll be rewarded with excellent service.
