What are your breakfast options?

We provide a Continental breakfast and it is included in our price. We can cook a hot breakfast for an extra charge. Our Continental breakfast consists of us serving to you in the restaurant a choice of 3 juices, 4 cereals, Tasmania yogurt, low fat or full cream milk, fresh fruit, wholemeal toast with homemade jams and Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey and Espresso coffee or pot of tea.

What transport is available to get around?

Redline buses go from Launceston to Burnie and return a few times a day. They stop to drop off or pick up in the rural towns where bookings have been made. Certainly, the best method of transport in Tasmania is to hire a car, assuming you have a driver’s license. Cycling is another way of getting around and if you are used to cycling distances of 60 - 100 km a day, then this is a great way of seeing this region.

If you are flying in to Launceston, then you can take a bus from the airport to Launceston and pick up a pre-booked hire bike from there. It is then 30 km from Launceston to Westbury. Taxis are available from the Launceston airport to Westbury; normal cost is around $50. There is no taxi in Westbury.

Private chauffeured cars are available to take you on wine tours of the Tamar or any other destination of your choice. We could organize one or get a quote if you let us know where you would like to go.

What can I do nearby?

Our property is an old 1833 National Trust listed building, so there is an enormous amount of history to steep yourself in as well as 2 acres of parkland gardens to relax and enjoy. History folders are available in each room as well as additional ones in the restaurant. We have an Old English Bar where guests can chat and find out more about the area and Tasmania in general.

There are many things to do in or near Westbury (Steam World or the Tractor Museum), a golf course in the next village, a magnificent collection of old books in the same village, many historic building. There is a lovely heritage architectural walk around Westbury. There is a collection of silhouettes in Westbury, a lovely Village Green and Town Common, a beautiful Bluestone Catholic Church and a Church of England with magnificent carvings, an outstanding garden complete with lake. There is a food trail in the Meander Valley, walking tracks including a wilderness walk to Liffey Falls, a wildlife park at Mole Creek as well as caves, Tamar Valley and Reilbia for vineyards, Evandale Market on Sundays, Brickendon and Woolmers at Longford, etc.

Do you have internet?

Yes, there is internet access in the room although some people's computers pick it up easy whilst others aren't able to pick it up at all. We have a computer in the restaurant where you could use for flight checks, email checks, etc., on a limited basis. There is no charge for this service.

Do you provide parking?

Yes, we do have off-street car parking for our house guests.
