Staff was very unhelpful and not polite. We NEVER had access to long distance calls even though we were told that we could make long distance calls. We asked several times until we finally gave up. We wanted to cancel our one night reservation (out of two nights scheduled) and we were told that we couldn't cancel!!!! It was too far to walk to the downtown so we had to pay for transportation to get to the downtown. It just wasn't a good experience.

It was quiet, and provided transportation downtown. Food, too far from downtown, not centraly located. Enjoyed our stay, room was nice and clean. Quiet too. The food/buffet was really not very good. The continental breakfast was not good. It was a bit challenging to get from the parking garage to the room although they provided rides from the motel to your car. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They really did all they could to make your stay enjoyable. But improving the food would make it move up a star.

All of your staff were exceptionally thoughtful in all areas. We certainly enjoyed the selection of food. It was colorful and tasty. Everything was so well orgainzed, which would indicate good management. We will be back.

The hotel was nice, very clean. We loved the free beer in the lobby of the casino. There could have been a pool to go chill at. But overall this hotel is a must!!

Nice continental breakfast. Hotel does not let the shuttle bus to downtown casinos stop there. Room was very clean but rather small overall. Balcony was nice for the smoker.

Extremely pleased with the room. Extremely clean and well furnished. Parking facilities were suited for our vehicle and motorcycle trailer. The continental breakfast was....at best, OK.

Great mattress, convenience to trolley, free, safe parking. Bathroom small, no comfortable chairs. At First Gold you get a good night's sleep on a good mattress, a nice complimentary breakfast, free WiFi, and golf cart rides to the trolley stop. It is located on the north end of Deadwood just as you arrive into town, so you can check in, park your car under cover, and leave it there until you leave Deadwood. On the negative side, don't expect a beautiful view from your window, as many rooms look out on a rock wall. We like to relax in the evening and watch TV from a comfortable chair, but the chairs are hard and straight, and a large air conditioner was located directly outside our window. All in all, First Gold has all you need for a safe, clean and comfortable night's stay, but is not the sort of room to hang out in.

Your entire staff were very professional and helpful It was a joy to stay at your hotel. Your food was delicious that was served at Cowboy Reunion Supper. The service was great!! Thank you!

Ok, but Deadwood is just for gambling, nothing else to do, no history, just slot machines everywhere.

If you aren't a gambler the place doesn't offer much. We don't gamble so this would not be some place we would return. The area is nice but there isn't much more than casinos.

We were very satisfied with our whole experience at the First Gold Hotel & Casino in Deadwood, SD. Our room was large enough, new, and clean. Hotel staff were cordial and friendly. The hotel restaurant was very busy the night we ate there, and it seemed they were somewhat short of staff at our time, but we didn't mind the wait. And when our order finally arrived, the food was very good and at a good price. The next morning we again ate at the hotel restaurant - the .79 cent breakfast. It was excellend, and of course, a more than fair price. This time, our order came out at a reasonable time. The casino, as most in Deadwood, is somewhat small, but has a good variety of slots, and enough card game table to handle everyone. Overall, as stated, we were very satisfied with our stay there.

Great rooms and helpful staff. Very short periods for meals in various locations. This was a great place to stay in Deadwood. It's away from the main Casino drag, but close enough to the trolley to get into town easily. Also, there are slot machines in both areas of the hotel, but the second building where we stayed was relatively quiet and gambling-lite.

When we entered our room the first time, the smell was very pleasant. Not like a motel/hotel smell. We had a great experience. We will stay here again!

The First Gold Hotel and Casino was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The rooms were comfortable. The bathroom was large and spacey. They had a pretty good continental breakfast, it was a little difficult to locate but worth it.

It was new and clean. Decor was a boring brown, view was of a dirt cliff ten feet away, no fridge, microwave; room coffee was terrible, etc. There are many better places, everywhere.
