Not for meHotel room was done out in a style which would more likely be appreciated by an elderly couple and not people in their early 30's. The odour which pervaded the room was exactly the same - a very flowery, sickly fragarence from yesteryear. The en-suite was decidedly small and suffered from dubious wiring which stumped the gent who showed us to our room. Also the en-suite was slightly grubby, with mold showing in the bathroom tiles. Apart from that, the room was very tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful enough, being a family run establishment they all mucked in. Breakfast (full english) was lovely, had to wait a bit for it but it was worth the wait. My girlfriend was less impressed as the food was quite greasy, even for a full english. It tasted good nonetheless and the family were on hand to ensure enough coffee and toast were available.

We enjoyed a brilliant weekend at the Ferndale Lodge. The owners were very friendly and were always there on hand to help with anything. On the Sat night we also used one of the food brochures in the hotel to find a brilliant restaurant called Howlers which is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. It doesnt seem much when you walk in there but the food, service and the restaurant itself were fantastic, we would definately recommend this to everyone. The breakfast choice at the hotel was good and cooked to high standard. The room was nicely decorated, clean and had everything you needed with an excellent shower and spacious bathroom.

One night stayWe had a very enjoyable stay for one night at the Ferndale Lodge. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 3 children (ages 15/12 and 3) and the room was perfect for what we needed. The staff at Ferbdale were very helpful and accommodating from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. Would definitely recommend Ferndale to friends and will most definitely stay again.

I have only four requirements of a hotel - safe car park for my motorbike, a comfortable bed, a clean hot shower and a good wholesome breakfast. The Ferndale Lodge ticked all four boxes. I only stayed one night - but will be back.

I thought the discount on the room that I booked was great. The hotel staff were very friendly, although the older lady asked me exactly the same question twice, within 5 minutes which I didn't mind, but might bother some people. It was very clean and I felt very looked after.

Very friendly, helpful and very good value for money. Near enough to walk into town centre and local amenities. We would certainly stay there again and recommend to our friends, although not too many as we don't want it getting too booked up if we want to stay there!! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Jon and Julie were very friendly and helpful hosts. Nice little guesthouse, convenient to town centre. Lovely breakfasts cooked to order. There is a nice TV lounge and a patio outside for fine weather. The servicing was a bit hit and miss (during our stay of several nights sometimes we'd get a new towel, biscuits, etc, other time we wouldn't), but nothing to complain about. Good value for money. I would definitely stay again.

The hotel was easy to find and within easy walking distance of local ammenities and shopping centres. It was a short 10 mintue walk to local bars, restaurants and pubs, as well as the pretty sea front. The room we had was on the small side, but clean and smart looking. The shower was wonderful and the room was kept clean and tidy during our stay, it also had a decent freeview ready TV and good storage space. The main plus with this B & B was the friendly atmosphere and levels of customer service, alongside the quality of breakfast choice and the food itself. It would be well worth a second try simply for that

Only one meal received at the hotel at breakfast and food was very good. Service to the table was very good.We did have difficulty finding the hotel having not been to Torquay before. The hotel was good value for the money paid, and the owners were very attentive to our needs.
