Utterly awful. If you want to stay in a block of flats with paper thin walls, cheap fittings and where you can hear your neighbor fart - this is the place. Awful!

We stayed at the apartments for 2 nights. We found the accomodation very clean , bright any airy. The apartments are located in a quiet area but have plenty of shops and facilities nearby , and are within eay reach of the city centre . We will definately use them in our future trips to Edinburgh as a more preferable aletrnative to a hotel room.

Built down to a low price not up to a decent standard!A very low cost, investment starved development more suitable for social housing than 'hotel accomodation'. Very disappointed, a fantastic location let down by cheap fittings, poor cleaning and maintenance and cash and/or imagination strapped owners. First room hadn't been cleaned. Second had but it didn't make mush difference. Cheap furniture; especially beds; did nothing to compensate. Can't recommend it to anyone looking for more than a cheap crash pad for a 'party-on' weekend in Edinburgh.

Convenient location! Our apartment was small but cozy. It's in a great location--easy access to the bus service and conveniently located near restaurants and a Tesco. The caretaker is VERY helpful! It's a definite plus to find a place that can accommodate four people with the amenities we had at a reasonable price. There were a few cosmetic flaws in the apartment but I've seen worse in motels! We definitely recommend staying here!

We had a lovely time in Edinburgh and that was partly due to the excellent accomodation and extremley helpful and friendly caretake. Thanks...See you next year :o)

Rooms were quite small with very little storage space for clothes or personal possessions and i would not want to be staying longer than 3 nights in this limited space. However for what we paid and the length of our stay this was ideal. Having two teenage girls it was good to have the extra bed in the lounge as well as 2 bedrooms. Bathroom not a bad size but shower one of the smallest spaces I have ever seen. Toaster in kitchen did not work properly but other than that no other complaints. Handy for zoo and buses to town too.

Home away from home...Be it an extended business stay or a leisure break in Edinburgh, this is a great little place to stay. So much better that a hotel. Your own space. Shops, pubs, takeaways all right on your door step. A real home away from home. We loved it.

The apartment was clean and very warm on a snowy weekend - the heaters were adjustable. It was useful to have the kitchen which was well-equipped, including an oven and washing machine. There was plenty of hot water and an iron and board. It is a little further out from town than I would have liked, and the taxis were very expensive - don't know if that was because it was an international weekend, but the bus service was brilliant, even extending to services throughout the night. One point - The block was full of other visitors up for the rugby and the doors to the block and to each apartment were self-closing, which is fine, and understandable, but they all banged shut instead of closing quietly, which was a problem thoughout the night as people returned. It was difficult to shut them quietly and caused alot of disturbance.

We arrived and found the apartments with no problem. Great location. Tesco just down on the next block. Resteraunts and Zoo are within walking distance. Once we figured out which bus we needed to get into town we had a very easy time getting around.Drawbacks...we had no toilet paper in the room...or holder. The mattresses were horrible. Not enough hot water for all in our family to shower. Nothing to sweep up crumbs with. Had we been given a passcode to use the free internet it would not have helped as the signal is too weak to actually connect to anything. All in all a nice place to stay at a great price.

Pleased with the accommodation however we thought it was a bit too far from the city centre.

The overall hotel room was okay. There were quite a few things that could be improved. The hotel provided quite a few towels but absolutely no washcloths, not even for the kitchen. The rug and the couch in the living room could have used a good scrubbing. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom was ripped off the wall and never replaced and it would have been nice to have a trash can in the bathroom. The batteries in the TV remote needed replacing. There was no adequate parking either. For a hotel with 11 rooms there were only 6 parking spaces. Luckily we went in the off-season and had plenty of parking spaces. The mattresses were quite horrible, with the springs poking through everywhere. They did not provide flat sheets for the beds either. If you got too hot you either have to sleep under a hot duvet or sleep under nothing. Supposedly, they have free WiFi but my computer was unable to find the network and its not an old or crappy computer. On to the good. The caretaker is a really nice gentleman and very courteous. We had plenty of space for our group of 2 adults, 2 children and an infant. We brought our own food and that help cut down the cost of eating out. The hotel is located close to the zoo and bus routes. It was nice having Tesco right around the corner for gas and other items. I'm not sure if I would recommend Featherhall to anyone else. There were just so many minor annoyances that it made it difficult to really enjoy the hotel.

Featherhall Garden Apartments is a great place to stay! It's minutes from the airport, and steps away from a direct bus route to anywhere in Edinburgh. Busses run every few minutes. There are many restaurants and takeaways within easy walking distance, so if you don't have a car, you won't starve and you won't be stuck there. If you do have a car, parking may be an issue, as the lot is small and it's difficult to turn around. The area is quiet, and there is a Tesco 3 blocks away. We've stayed there twice, and both times check in was effortless, even tho we arrived outside regular check in hours. Our room this year (number 11) was much nicer than the one we had last year. It's the *penthouse* and we had the ground floor apartment in the corner in 2007. We liked #11 much better; it's roomier, better layed out, bright, warm and quiet. The wireless internet connection was reasonably reliable, and all the appliances worked well. If you're not used to a front loading combination washer/dryer, be prepared to make laundry an all-day affair. Jeans, towels, and other heavy clothing took forever to dry, and the spin cycle on these machines in quite violent, so don't put your delicates in; it'll beat them to a pulp! The caretaker/handyman at Featherhall was the most delightful man! He was friendly and helpful, and I totall enjoyed our many chats. He was knowledgeable about the area and the city, and generally couldn't do enough for us. I will definitely stay at Featherhall again. It provides all the comforts of home in a convenient location.

A fair way from the city centre but well-served by several frequent bus services I found it very convenient. The apartment was small but comfortable and covered all our basic needs, although the kitchen was very sparsely supplied with cooking utensils. In particular we bemoaned the lack of any coffee making facilities (neither coffee machine nor plunger). Had to phone the management for the wireless key - no information was available in the apartment - and although we were then able to connect to it, it refused to allocate an IP address so was unusable. We were also somewhat dismayed by the damaged security door that was not repaired in the duration of our 4 day stay. Nevertheless we liked the apartment and would stay there again at these prices - though probably not at any higher than the £60/night we paid..

Rooms were clean but quite small for 4 adults and a child. Very convenient for Edinburgh city centre. Good kitchen facilities but no cofee or tea for a quick cuppa. We ended up buying stuff from nearby Tesco just to make coffee and tea for 2 days. A few sachets like in B&Bs would have been helpful and convenient.

Once in the area and after a phone call to the owners I found the appartments quite easily. The appartment was clean, bright, well appointed and had reasonable parking space available. Locally there is a Tesco (about 5 minutes walk, I found petrol was cheaper elsewhere in the City). There is a public house on the corner that looked alright although I didn't venture in. An asian takeaway is just outside the grounds, and on the main road there is a good fish & chip come Italian take away and a small seating area. Prices were good and the food was excellent. There is a Chinese further on and various other eateries in the vicinity. I would thoroughly recommend these appartments to anyone wishing to stay in the area. It was nice to feel at home away from home.
