Fairshaw Rigg was only opened in its current configuration in June 2010 when everything was freshly decorated and re carpeted. All of the beds were new as was almost all the furniture.
What traveller type is most suited?
With 2 Double rooms and a twin, Fairshaw Rigg is best suited for couples or families with children wanting their own rooms. We are also very popular with business travelers.
What transport is available to get around?
We are on an hourly bus route to Hexham which has a hub for other bus routes and a train service to Newcastle upon Tyne and Carlisle. There is a wide selection of taxis which is the best option for airport transfers to Newcastle, c. 25 minutes away.

The Hadrian's Wall Bus Service also operates from Hexham during the main Tourist Season.
What can I do nearby?
Hadrian's Wall and associated Forts and Museums are open year round. There are three National Trust properties, within easy reach, that open March to November. Hexham boasts an impressive Abbey and the Old Gaol as well as a popular old style cinema.

For fans of walking and cycling the Wall, National Park and North Pennines are all close by.

Slightly further afield, but great days out are Beamish, Alnwick Castle and the Northumberland Coast.
As a family, what are the best things to do?
Alnwick Castle is the "Home" of Harry Potter. Also Hexham has an indoor pool, 10 pin bowling, plenty of parks and Newcastle upon Tyne with all its amenities is just 30 minutes away.

In our own grounds visitors can meet our Alpacas, chickens and our family pets.

What makes your hotel the best?
Our most unique feature is being a working Alpaca farm. Our animals graze on the fields immediately adjoining the property and we are happy to introduce them to guests.

In our rooms guests also sleep under Alpaca duvets as well as being provided with quality toiletries, fluffy towels and hot water bottles. The TV's have a DVD player and radios have IPod docking stations.

Breakfast is served in our glass roofed Orangery which has fabulous views over rural Northumberland. Many of our breakfast ingredients are home or locally produced including our own free range eggs.
