Nice place for vacation. Feeling old with fences around the resort.

If you enjoy a hotel with absolutely no views this is the hotel for you. It's as if you are in New Jersey on sunny day. Gee one would think that with all the positive reviews it's a 5 star resort. Guess what it isn't. Pools are overly crowed, there is no breakfast buffet and you do not get the feeling that you are even in Arizona. Where are the mountains. In summary if you enjoy dark rooms, no views, crowded pools, enormous grounds then this place is for you

We had a fabulous weekend at the Fairmont with thirty family members spread out over ten casitas. The grounds are very spread out, but staff was always happy to drive any family members who wished to our destinations. The children enjoyed playing croquet, lawn bowling and other lawn games at their park and enjoyed swimming at their beautiful pools. My husband and I took advantage of the first-class spa and left the children with the hotel babysitters who were excellent and played with the kids and took them to the children's room. Sooooo relaxing. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms beautiful. The restaurants were slow but the food was good, which I would have enjoyed if not trying to corral children. Overall a wonderful vacation and we will likely plan our family reunion there again.

The Casita suite was spectacular. The bathroom was the best! The staff was very courteous. Location superb! The food upscale and delicious! My air conditioner did not work. The Fairmont was the upscale hotel I was looking for after 2 days at the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I felt safe on the grounds. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The rooms were beyond expectation, especially the bathroom. The food was 5 star dining. The beds were very comfortable.

The staff was so friendly and attentive. When we first arrived we were a little put off by the decor and odd shape of our room. I think it may be one they have not refurbished yet. It was clean and the bathroom was roomy. We had breakfast in The Bistro the first day because it came with a promotion. It was so excellent that we spent approx. $50 on breakfast the other days. The pools were lovely and the spa was awesome. Well worth the price of admission. I had a heavenly facial that was so much more than just a facial. The extra pampering was awesome. Be warned the bar was very pricey but sitting by the firepit outside made it a little easier to take.

We've also stayed at both properties in Bermuda and now Scottsdale. All properties seem comprable. Great rooms, excellent service, well trained staff, excellent local reputation, beautiful resort. Not sure what these whiners are talking about. One of the best resorts in Scottsdale & is known for their service......

Restaurants./Bar They charged for local telephone call, which I was not aware of. Also, they did not provide free wireless internet access. Beautiful bar and restaurants. Drinks by the pool were reasonably priced for a hotel. We were upset that they charged for wireless internet access. Also, I made a local call from the room and was charged $1.50 for it?! There are nicer hotels in Scottsdale/PV for the same price, and we won't be staying again.

We were lucky enough to reserve a room in the resort's Gold area. It was a beautiful room -- big couch, 2 flat screens, elegant linens, huge luxurious bathroom, balcony with furniture. The Gold area gives you access to a lounge area that is gorgeous and includes a free gourmet (not just continental) breakfast, free hors d'ouerves (but honor bar) in the evening and desserts after dinner. The dedicated concierge in the Gold area was extremely helpful -- directing us to things to do and restaurants in the area. We spent a morning at the spa, which looks to be newly renovated. It is 44,000 sq. feet. I had a great massage, then enjoyed the steam, sauna, whirlpool, cold plunge and mineral whirlpool w/ waterfall. It also has a separate outdoor pool, large fitness area with classes. We enjoyed the Bistro restaurant, the least expensive of the choices. It isn't a low-level cafe, we enjoyed a delicious dinner and wine there. Too bad it didn't have more patrons. The outdoor bar is very chic. The location is a little far from the airport and was hard to fine (construction on Scottsdale Blvd), but is next to a TPC golf course (privileges to resort guests). I also heartily recommend Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home, Taliesen. I would definitely go back -- for a girls' weekend, a romantic weekend away or even a family vacation (there's a kids' club). The only downside is that it appears to cater to lots of large conventions.

I checked in for the night after significant airport delays. Bellman was exceptionally helpful in assisting me to my room. Hotel is very large and is quite a trek to majority of rooms. Mini-bar costs are ridiculously expensively - but not unusual for nicer hotels. After getting in late, I received random phone calls around 4:30 AM. Check out was VERY difficult. The desk clerk was completely incompetent - which made the check out take an exceptionally long time. He couldn't find my reservation and basically suggested I was giving him the incorrect name. I mentioned the call I received early in the morning noting I was on very little sleep. He responded with there are several hundred guest rooms and it could have been anyone calling. Very rude overall. I have stayed there in the past and staff has been much better.

Unique room layout. Large bathrooms. Massiveness of grounds made getting around difficult.

We are AZ locals and just wanted to feel like we were having a little Labor Day get away. We were lucky enough to find a great rate so we chose the Princess. However to our dismay we were greeted to a 1500 person pool party at the hotel that weekend. We had no idea that this hotel leased out its pools, bars, and dining outlets to 3rd party companies that are not part of the hotel. While I could accept this practice with the dining establishments I found it very annoying that this was the case of their pool. Most of the party goers were not even staying at the hotel. The front desk informed us of the party but neglected to tell us that there were 4 other pools to go to on the property that were free from the mess. After getting our room we found that our "room with a view" was of the pool with the party. Not our idea of a good time. After several annoying hours of Techno bumping through our walls we asked the front desk to switch rooms. They were very kind and moved us down to a Casita in a very quiet area of the property. This room was also much more modern than the old dingy style of the first room. We did enjoy our stay but not after several hours of major annoyance. Deals are good but make sure to check and see what is going on at the hotel during your stay. Also the Michael Mina Burbon Steak is located here. Great food and awesome martinis but be prepared to pay through the nose. I paid $18 for a Wedge salad...It was great but come on.....it was a Wedge!!

This resort is the best I have stayed at yet! We were greeted with valet parking, quick check in, a golf cart ride to our casita suite. The room was spacious the snail shower and separate oversized bathtub was a nice touch. The resort is huge, if we didn't want to walk it took 5 minutes from the time we called till our golf cart arrived taking us to where we needed. Our 10 year old son loved the kids club so much that when I went to pick him up at 3:30 he asked to stay until it closed at 4:00. The 24 hour pool and lighted recreation area that included some holes to putt, volleyball, badmitten, and a few other games was a great way to rap up the evening. The numerous pools and hammocks made it fun to choose which one we would visit next. La Hacienda is the best mexican food I have ever tasted, and the prickley pear margarita was delicious laying next to the pool. The service was friendly and always smiling offering a good morning Mr. and Mrs. B. They even spoke to our son like a buddy. We will definately make another reservation for our family weekend getaways!

The pool side drinks were very pricey. We stayed at four different hotels over the course of one week while we vacationed in the Scottsdale area. The Fairmont was the last on our list but was excellent for vacation. We all wished that we spent the entire week at this resort!

My mother and my two daughters and I had a girls shopping weekend in Scottsdale before the kids returned to school. We thought wouldn't it be fun to stay at the Princess and make it really special. We have stayed at the Fairmont Hotels in Bermuda, Victoria, Banf, and Jasper and after our stay at the Scottsdale Princess, I do not think I would consider staying at another Fairmont Hotel again! The stay was deplorable from the moment we pulled in. The Bellman was extremely confusing about the valet services. My mother is a member of the Fairmont Gold Club and when checking in requested that we have a room centrally located, as my mother uses a cane and we wanted it to be easy for her to get to the hotel's amenities. The desk clerk was extremely rude and stated that they were completely booked for the weekend and certainly could not guarantee anything like that! The clerk offered to have a golf cart take us to our room , when we went outside to the bellman, we were told that there was no way we could be taken in a golf cart and that we should walk. After a discussion we were given a ride. The bellman who took us to our room was very nice and helpful. At dinner we sat in the family dining room and waited over 25 minutes for a waiter. The childrens buffet was stone cold. When this was brought to the staffs attention they simply relit the sterno under the buffet. They didn't heat the childrens food, bring out hot food or anything. The dining room had 5 tables that hadn't been cleared. The childrens pool was filthy, we had the same wait service at the main pool rest. and poolside.

It was a beautiful facility with lovely rooms. The (free) workout facility was embarrassingly small! It was a delightful hotel with excellent service. We did find it a little hard to find our way around because it was a huge property and sign age was just okay. The casual dining restaurant had a wonderful lunch with unusual and yummy and healthy food - but dinner service was slow and food was mediocre.

Everything was clean and beautiful. We enjoyed the fire pits-they were an added bonus. We went to the hot tub at one of the pool areas (south pool, I believe) and water wasn't hot. This is a beautiful hotel which is close to many restaurants. It is also close to the freeway, which makes it easier to get to other parts of town. All employees were very friendly-maintenance workers always had a good morning.

Beautiful pools andfriendly staff. Inconvenient resort layout. The elevator near our room was out of service the entire time. No one told us this when we checked in. We had a gentleman with a cane in our group as well as a baby for whom we had a lot of stuff to haul up the stairs. The hotel moved our room to a lower floor but it was even farther from the elevator that worked.

Very quiet and private - the room was peaceful and comfortable. No pen in the room - must have gotten lost and not replaced. Lovely, amazing resort. I would have liked to have just stayed in for a month! Room was beautiful-room service was quick and delicious.

"Disappointing... The bathroom was never thoroughly cleaned. The sliders to the balcony had finger prints all over them when we arrived and they were still there when we left. Dust lined the floor molding next to the chest of drawers. Not to mention Pringle Potato chips on top of the Hutch. Extra attention should be given to the cleaning services of a room especially in between each guest, and at a 5 diamond Hotel!"
