Built in the Edwardian Commercial style, the award-winning Fairmont Palliser Hotel Calgary first opened in 1914 as one of the Canadian Pacific Railroad hotels and was named after Captain John Palliser, who explored the area in the 1850s. It has historical furnishings including a lobby, once known as The Rotunda, that features an antique ticket office, telegraph and telephone bureau, flower stand and elevator hall. Palliser is like an oasis within the centre of downtown Calgary. Staff were very friendly and professional. Fairmont Gold has a great selection of complementary food available both at cocktail hour as well as breakfast. Only negative would be that room bathrooms could be larger with better amenities (e.g. deep tubs).

This hotel is beautiful and very comfortable. All the staff provided great service. The concierge was 4 for 4 providing us with dining suggestions.

In the suite that we had on the gold floor the bed was not very stable. Overall, it was a beautiful facility and had the typical Fairmont Elegance. The service level at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was a notch or two higher, but even at that the service in Calgary was very good.

Old fashioned elegance, location, swimming pool. No hooks in bathrooms for hanging towels. This is a lovely old charming hotel of a a time when care and attention was paid to elegant furnishings and detail. The location is excellent - near the Glenbow museum, Calgary tower, art gallery, river walkways, and restaurants.

Personnel friendly and responsive to requests. Room was wonderfully quiet even though there were conventions being held there. Location near Stevens Ave. and ease of driving made the visit outstanding.

The Fairmont Palliser is a top-notch hotel. They truly understand what it means to have good customer service. They treat you as if you are their most important guest. All facilities were incredibly clean. We had no problems while staying there.

Location to downtown. Restaurant was very expensive to eat at. The polisher is a beautiful old hotel.

The cutback in services with no reduction in room rate at this hotel has really affected its rating. Much better can be found in Calgary at a lower price. Don't waste your money here. This fine Hotel has been run into the ground.
