First visit to Quebec and this Hotel is perfect! Service is excellent- the location is ideal - no reason to rent a car- great dining and shopping within walking distance- Old European style and reserved professionalism by the Staff- when you cross the threshold it is as if you are arriving at home-- plus you even get to walk Santol! - the goregous service dog in residence. Having lived in Europe, we expected our room to be somewhat smaller than US style hotels- but the view of the St Laurence River was wonderful. The room's furnishings are beautiful and quiet comfortable. The Hotel's Breakfast Buffet serves a variety of hot and cold items and of course, great pastries. No stay would be complete without dinner at Le Champlain, impeccable service and a tremendous culinary experience! I can't find a reason to ever return to France, when such a gem as Le Chateau Frontenac is so very close and so welcoming!

Check in at 4PM - the room was not ready. I asked for another one, but no more kingsize bed. Choose a queen + infant crib. 30 minutes after entering the room, sorry we have no more crib but the kingsize room is ready...cleaning was not correct. this hotel is a tourist trap. Overrated, and overpriced.

It's a historic place and at the heart of the tourist area. Great view of St. Lawrence River. Found the deluxe room with a river view a bit small. There was a bad smell close to the TV mantel. Perfect location for tourists. It's at the heart of it all.

We had stayed at the Chateau Frontenac on our honeymoon 20 years ago and decided to return for our anniversary. This trip we had a slightly bigger room on a lower floor but missed the wonderful view of the St. Lawrence River that we had the first time around. The staff is wonderful and didn't mind that we don't speak French. A meal at their 4-star restaurant is a treat not to be missed! The location is fabulous for all the touristy things to do. The city was great in May but starting in June their 400th anniversary celebration will probably make the city extremely crowded and not nearly as much fun.

No language barrier here. The friendly, helpful and polite staff know how to treat their guests well. The room was exceptionally clean, spacious and comfortable. I loved the old world charm and the proximity of great restaurants and shops.

Food, service, view, location - all spectacular. Bonus: our kid got to walk the hotel dog! There was nothing we didn't like. Incredible location, history all around you, the staff was very game to comply with our difficult requests, walking the hotel's St Bernard was a highlight for our 6-year-old. Every bite of dinner was a winner.

First, I was told that online travel website had double booked me. The woman at the reception desk, however, would not allow me to compare the two classes of rooms. The first, was smoking, which was not acceptable, tiny, not acceptable, so I asked to be moved. the second, was more spacious--room to open the suitcase on the floor--but the view was a wall. All this for * a night! This is not a hotel that caters to the individual. If you are not part of a convention, forget it--you are not bringing in the bucks, which is apparently the only motivation for service at this hotel. Before leaving, I checked out my bill on the TV screen. There was a charge to the private bar for *--which was illegitimate so I called the desk. I was told "No big deal, it's only *--there it's gone! Goodbye." I called the supervisor to complain but was told there was a misunderstanding--I didn't understand how "No big deal" was used in Canada. Bottom line, I would never go back to this hotel. Vastly overrated, and vastly overpriced.

The staff responded wonderfully to an emergency we encountered. Very small room. This is a beautiful hotel with lovely staff. Our stay was cut short due to a family emergency but we really loved the place.

I drove from Virginia Beach and did not take a credit card. This marred my visit to the hotel. They required a 300 cash deposit for ""incidentals"", which I didn't mind at all. But what I did mind was that they didn't allow my TV to select movies, etc., because I didn't have a credit card with me. Mine was stolen and the replacement didn't arrive in time for trip, so I had no choice. Would stay here again due to location and beauty on river. Very helpful front door welcome and departure.

Laundry facilities, good breakfast, quiet. Impossible to locate, situated in middle of 20 acres of shopping center. This is an unusual hotel, situated in the middle of a large shopping center. Rooms on the western side have a commanding view of Target and the parking lot. Apart from that, it is very clean and modern, nice rooms, friendly staff, lots of places to dine out within 2 minutes of the hotel.

Historic, plush, posh, and in a great location! It was undergoing minor renovation. This is a true historic landmark that is renovated with modern convenience and luxury. It's great for making a lasting romantic impression or for upscale business travel. The staff did have fluency with English for the most part.

It's a great hotel but better values on great hotels are available. Billed approximately $7.50 for bottled water in the room. This is the type of hotel you go to once just to experience it for its historic value. It's beautiful. It wasn't as nice, but certainly was a better overall value.

"I splurged and stayed in one of their largest suites. The room was about 550 square feet with 2 beds and a sofa bed. Our room was located in one of the turrets so there were 3 windows with views of the river, the park/street performers, and Old Quebec. Maid service wasn't great but customer service jumped to correct oversights. Very pricey though, I would stay in a hotel with a jacuzzi in it for much less money next visit."
