Location Description:

Exit airport terminal or car rental area onto Keolani Place. Continue straight through the intersection onto Dairy Road (Hwy 380) passing CostCo and Kmart on your left. Continue on Dairy Road (Hwy 380) to the traffic light at Mokulele Hwy 311 & S. Puunene Avenue turn left onto Mokulele Hwy 311. Continue on Mokulele Hwy approximately 6 miles. You will automatically merge left onto Piilani Hwy 31. Continue south on the Piilani Hwy 31 until the end of highway. It will veer right onto Wailea Ike Drive. Drive down toward the ocean and at the end of Wailea Ike Drive, turn left at the traffic light onto Wailea Alanui. Follow Wailea Alanui south until you reach The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui on the right side.

The open-air Lobby Bar offers spectacular views of the beautiful Maui sunset. You can enjoy a selection of pupus and a Kea Lani Cocktail or one of many specialty martinis served in a silver cocktail shaker and poured at your table. The was our first trip to Maui and our first stay at any of the Fairmont Hotels. The hotel, pools and grounds were beautiful, although we felt the decor of the rooms and the balconies were very outdated. Ours and our friend's shower had mold in them and even though housekeeping was made aware the mold was never cleaned. Restaurants and meals are pretty expensive but most everything in Wailea is on the pricey side. We had a great bartender at the pool bar who gave us fantastic restaurant suggestions from sushi to pizza to a great place for breakfast. We also went snorkeling one day and had a fabulous time on the Maui Magic. Super friendly crew and the trip included a small breakfast,bbq for lunch and beer and wine. Despite the outdated decor, I would stay at the Fairmont again, even with our kids.

Going through the internet you can always read reviews where someone found something to fault anywhere you are going to stay, but when I read the reviews for the Fairmont, it was mostly positive. The pictures didn't do it justice. The staff is excellent and extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed with our 12 year old daughter who had no problems making friends with the number of other children that were on the property. It is a very kid friendly facility and the pool is awesome and for those who decide to take a break from the kids- there is an Adult only pool for the quieter side. The restaurants are a bit on the pricer side and we preferred to venture out to other island favorites. The drive was reasonable to any of the major other Maui cities. A car is a must from this part of the island as there isn't too much to do here on the south side. The room is great with a very large sitting/living area with a queen sized pull out couch. It probably has seen a few more days than an upscale hotel should without being updated/painted, but the elegance of everything else, left this a non-issue. The mini bar area with refrig and microwave came in very handy and the bed was very comfortable. The property itself is very beautiful and the beach is swimable with great snorkeling not too far from the hotel. I don't think I could say enough good things about this hotel. Will definitely be back again and hopefully soon...

The hotel was wonderful, but our experience is worth noting. My husband suffered a boogie boarding accident on the beach just 2 days into our stay and had to be hospitalized past our check out date. The staff at the Kea Lani extended our stay for a nice reduced rate, took me to the hospital a few times when I needed help, fed us a couple of times, and called and checked on me numerous times. They truly care about their guests. They acted like a true 5 star resort. Even though we were at a reduced rate for a few days after our check out date, they kept us in our deluxe ocean view suite. My husband is still recovering and will be for some time, but if we can return to Maui, we will not hesitate to stay again at the Kea Lani. They are the best. I cannot say the same for Orbitz, who would not work with me at all on putting a hold on our airline tickets (we had a true emergency and could not fly out with my husband in the hospital). The Orbitz people were very rude. Be careful about buying a package from Orbitz-be sure to read the fine print. We found out the hard way. And always buy the trip cancellation/interruption/medical insurance when you are far from home. You never know when you might need it, and its worth it!

This was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. The service was great, the bed was sooooo comfortable, and the lanai had a great view. The laundry service came in handy and the beach umbrella rental was very reasonable compared to other hotels. We paid extra for the roll-away bed. We thought the $30/night was pretty expensive, but the bed was actually a regular mattress on a solid frame (not one of those loud, uncomfortable, folded-in-half things). The kids loved the pool slide and relatively short access to a beach that wasn't overly crowded. The waves weren't that big, but they were perfect for a body board (I recommend purchasing a rash guard shirt if you plan to ride the waves or burn easily).

This was the best trip that we have taken to Maui. The hotel was tops; beautiful, clean and friendly! My family and I went snorkeling, toured the island, had wonderful dining out experiences and enjoyed our rest and relaxation.

Overall okay experience (stayed 9 days) since we used the hotel primarily for sleeping. Rooms are clean, spacious and well appointed with excellent houskeeping services. Service people are friendly. Valet parking is good, quick and pleasant service...but a little too expensive. Occupancy was low and hotel was very quiet. Not much in the way of shops, activities, or conceirge assistance. The "Included breakfast" was horrible due to contant influx of hundreds of aggressive birds swarming the tables and picking the food right off your plate. Got a partial rebate as we had to go off campus every day for a clean breakfast in peace. Two on-site dinner restaurants not able to accommodate allergies, altho they said they "take allergies very seriuosly". Their "allergy program" requiring registration was completely non-existent insofar as functioning. Food preparation was mediocre and too expensive for the value. The seafood restaurant was particularly disappointing as far as service and food quality. I would not return. Complaints to management were met with resistence rather than apology. Did not meet my expectations. Pool service was good, but no break from sunshine unless you rent a cabana for a daily fee..no partial rental for half day or hourly.

We we thrilled you guys had this hotel, as we had just stayed there in march as well. The staff couldn't be lovelier. The facilities were fabulous. The food amazing. I could wish for a workout room that faced the ocean, but really, the hotel is fabulous.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Kea Lani a few weeks ago, and the suite was just gorgeous and so tranquil, from the comfortable bed to the spacious bathroom with two sinks and separate tub and shower. I enjoyed sitting on my balcony and watching the sunset over the ocean. The beach is one of my favorites in Hawaii and a perfect place to relax with a mai tai and soak up the afternoon sunshine. The pools are pretty spectacular, too. I loved the hidden hot-tub, and the separate adults pool. One night I ate at Ko, which was such a treat. The food was all fresh and local and delicious. I also liked the Italian market on the lower level, a very convenient place to pick up snacks to go. Try the lavender goat cheese--it's amazing. One night I ordered room service and it was fantastic, too. I miss my room in Fairmont Kea Lani and hope to be able to return soon.

The resort itself was excellent all around. We really enjoyed the location on Maui (our first visit there) as we debated between Ka'anapali and Wailea. Free self parking is a huge bonus. Didn't feel nickeled and dimed at all. We were warmly welcomed by the front desk and staff with lais and cold beverages. The rooms were large suites with a very comfortable bed and huge luxurious bathroom. Rooms were cleaned daily with special cares to our belongings. Fitness center can be very busy around 8am. Machines are good. Yoga instructor not impressive if you have any previous experience. Breakfast good ?worth the $30. We had a great breakfast for the same price at Longhi's right down the street. Food was excellent everywhere we ate on the resort (didn't try Ko), including poolside (service overall good poolside, but slow at times). Nick's was fantastic (our favorite bottle of wine was $10 cheaper at Nick's than at Duo next door at the Four Seasons and the food was leaps better). Our last day there we had the worst service of our stay there at the Polo Grill (food was great though) and mentioned it to the front desk staff at checkout and they offered to remove the charge from our bill. With a late flight out we were able to use the pool the rest of the day and use one of the complimentary suites to shower and change before heading to the airport. Everyone was very nice. We did a lot of driving as a lot of the restaurants/functions we wanted to visit were in Lahaina and Ka'anapali - so consider that in your decision where on the island you want to stay. BUT, the beaches and snorkeling are fantastic in Wailea (with more turtles than up north). The Four Seasons looks like a phenomenal place to stay - very newly renovated, but price difference is so significant that I would go back to the Kea Lani in a heartbeat!

As seasoned travelers this is our third time to Hawaii but first time to the Fairmont (Kea Lani). The positives about this resort are that it is secluded, very few children and impeccable in cleanliness and presentation. The suites are nice and spacious, lots of marble, two televisions and they are eco-friendly. Our lanai (table and two chairs and chaise lounge w/two entrances) looked out onto private condos next door but we could also see the ocean. The beach is small but extremely clean and usually has lots of room to sunbathe. On the negative side, the wait staff (unless they were serving us in a business group setting) seemed a little irritated in general. The average cost for a cocktail is $18.00. There are no vending machines to buy a soda. The gym is too small to support such a large hotel. The ride to the hotel is about an hour. This is also a non-smoking property.

I thought that the room smelled. The shower was dirty, moldy. I stayed at this hotel 7-8 years ago and it was much cleaner. It appears that it has lost its up keep. I finally asked for another room. I wouldn't stay there again

"My wife and I visited the Kea Lani on our honeymoon in October of 2007. The service was amazing, the grounds were beautiful, and our room was very comfortable and clean. The food was great at all restaurants especially Nick's Fish Market. I suggest the Flaming Strawberry's. The concierge was very helpful. I will stay there again and highly recommend it for people visiting Maui!"

The Fairmont is a excellent hotel, which is located on our favorite side of the Island. Nick's restaurant is a world class restaurant with a wonderful selection of entree's. We were treated by the Head Chef and had a memorable time. The hotel grounds are beautiful. Also, try out the canoe sailing on the "Hina" it is definately a worthwhile excursion at a reasonable price.

My husband and I are addicted to the Kea Lani, and make it our special vacation. Yes, it is pricy but well worth every penny. Property is second to none, staff is top noch with each staff member treating you like long lost family. The family pool, has a swim up bar that attracts everyone. Food at the Kea Lani is outstanding, even the HOT DOGs at the bar are the best! If your not a drinker...no problem, the guys at the bar are mixmasters,s and keep the kids and adults happy with smoothies and such. We usually try and reserve the sunnyside special which includes an over the top breakfast buffet that keeps us full most of the day. I guarantee that you will not be dissappointed with your stay at the Kea Lani.

From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, we were extremely happy with the service and staff at the Fairmont. We were able to upgrade one of our 2 rooms to the ocean view side (well worth it for happy hour with the sunset!). The suites were perfect for our family of 6 (4 adult children). The pool service, beach attendants and swim up bar guys were all very friendly and remembered us throughout the week. A special anniversary dinner at Nick's was fabulous. Previous reviews were very helpful and I would not hesitate to highly recommend the Fairmont to anyone. We would definitely go back.

"I was only in Maui for a few days, but I loved every second of it. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful...from the waiters by the pool to the drivers taking you to the shops. The food was great. My only complaint is that the variety was somewhat lacking. The room was wonderful as were all of the areas of the hotel."

Overall my stay in Maui was very outstanding and a big part of that was the Fairmont Kea Lani. The hotel is kind off old, but everything in Hawaii is old or let's say antique but the guys in the property do a perfect job to keep it running. All the facility is very well kept, the gardens, pool, spa, fitness, lobby and lobby bar not to mention the restaurants are in great shape; NICK'S FISH MARKET is a must, great food and great service, don't miss it. The beach is one of the nicest in Maui and the location is in one of the pririest and luxurious places in the island, you have 5 (yes, five) golf courses just across the street. Recomend it with eye's wide shot.

"This hotel is absolutely beautiful but it's obvious that it caters to families. There's nothing wrong with that but if you're expecting peace and quiet, or alone time, go to the Grand Wailea. My wife and I went for our honeymoon and we were disappointed with all the kids running around, but kudos to the hotel and staff. One note of improvement, furniture is starting to look weathered."
