The Fairmont Royal York is a hotel that is distinguished but may be a little overblown in it's overall appeal. Yes, it is grand and there are obvious stellar elements to the place. Still, I've stayed at the Marriott in Toronto that, to me, is a better deal and just as nice in many ways. Sure, it is not as showy as the Royal York but the arrangements are just as good and in some ways better. Overall, the Fairmont Royal York is a fine hotel. However, for it's money it is a little over priced and it is worth pursuing other fine Toronto Hotels like the Marriott if you want to have a nice stay but not pay as much--check out the Hermitage Hotel in Nashville for the ultimate in hotel facilities.

If you want a hotel with character and history where royalty has stayed, this is your pick. It's a little expensive but worth every penny. The staff and service is superior. The hotel is well maintained and rooms are luxurious. You will get a good night sleep and have your choice of activities. Theaters, museums and shops in walking distance as well as fine dining. In the winter, you can go through the underground to keep sheltered and not have to walk in the snow. Public transportation is easily accessible as well.

Friendliness & helpfulness of the staff. Comfort of the bed. Quality of breakfast. WI-FI internet. Excellent and would stay again but all the other hotels, country Inns & Bed & breakfasts I had stayed in over a 3week period had complimentary internet access. I paid more for this hotel than any of the others many of which had equal service & facilities & was disappointed that the internet was not free and neither was the water in the rooms.

THe room was clean but very small. 2 people in this room would run into each other. The bathroom was extremely small with barely enough room for 1 person.

Location and cleanliness. Only 1 chair. It was very close to the train station, it was clean and comfortable. It was stylish and rooms were modest size.

"This was my 1st stay at a 4 star hotel & I was pleasantly surpised. The service was outstanding. The staff friendly & helpful. The concierge helped us plan a walking tour of Toronto & made sure we hit all the ""must sees/must do since we only had 1 day to see the city. When we asked for a dinner suggestion, he was on the phone in seconds and gave us 3 suggestions, wait times, & when we decided..he made the reservations for us without us even asking. That's service! I would stay at any of the Fairmont hotels based on the great service at the Royal York."

Great location, fancy lobby. Nickel and dime you for everything. Nothing is complimentary. It is a beautiful place on the surface and the location is fantastic, but for the cost of the room there is surprisingly little that you do not pay for $26 a day for parking, $1.50 to make a local call, $15 a day for the internet, $8 for a bottle of water. Honestly, I am amazed there was not a charge to take ice from the ice machines.

"This is a ""must stay"" hotel. It's worth the extra dollars for what you get. Beautiful spotless rooms (most in downtown are a bit on the smaller side but we had no complaints here), outstanding staff, old world beauty, many amenities, and much more. Parking is expensive ($33/day valet with in-out or $24/day without) but there is no free parking in downtown hotels anyway. I've stayed in several in the Metro Toronto area and this one is the only that the wife and I will return to...soon!"

Health club facilities primarily the pool and whirlpool areas. Too expensive for value. While I have stayed in Toronto on many occasions, I have never had the cause or opportunity to stay at the Royal York. I found that the room rate was not in keeping with the quality or standard that I would have expected with a hotel of this caliber. After the initial interest of being able to say that "I stayed at the Royal York" I wouldn't be too inclined to do it again.

Very friendly atmosphere, wonderful service. We found it difficult to locate the elevators to the parking garage. More direction from the lobby floor would be helpful. We had a wonderful night. We were upgraded to the Gold Floor which provided a very comfortable lounge area; a relaxing place to sit and have a light snack and drink other than sitting in our room.
