Generally a good hotel and great value for money, especially as, unlike many hotels in York, you can book a single night stay. The first complaint arises from a mistake we made- on a freezing cold Saturday we left the heating on in our room, taking the only key card we has been issued out with us. We looked forward to returning to a warm snuggly room that evening, only to find that the heating was electric, activated by the key card, and our room was freezing- NOT the ideal finale to a lovely, romantic Valentine's evening out.The second complaint IS a fault of the hotel- we were in room 244, and the shower was atrocious! We both had a shower, and found that the water temperature dropped to freezing at regular intervals without warning and stayed there for a couple of minutes before warming up again.... not great when you are all soaped up and ready to rinse off, or you've a head of shampoo running into your eyes. Compained about this at Reception when booking out- but complaint was met with indifference.

We stayed on New Years Eve and it was a nightmare, people running around and banging on doors, didnt sleep at all. at 5am i complained to the guy on reception but nothing was done really. id stay here again but not New Years Eve and i know you cant blame the hotel for inconciderate idiots but you do expect the hotel staff to stop it when it does happen.

No complaints. It was exactly as expected. A cheap no frills room which was perfectly adequate for our 1 night stopover. The room was clean and had everythin gone would need/expect from this sort of hotel. Breakfast was continental only and 'herlp yourself' which again was fine and adequate.

The people manning the reception desk were friendly and helpful. One went out of his way to get us some water. An improvement would be a better/more accessible source of free/tap water for all guests, especailly as this is suggested by the ice machine.

As usual with Express By Holiday Inn, an easy and comfortable experience. Good sized, clean room and ensuite, very friendly and helpful staff, quiet and having a nice outlook over fields and trees.

Best bit of the hotel was the room as it had a great desk for working not one of these tiny dressing table types but a full working variety.Free Wifi was fast and worked a treat.Food was ok and mainly based around a carvery.Worth the 85 euros.

This was a last minute booking after a spur of the moment decision to spend a few days off work in York. Stayed for one night in July with my partner. Arrived quite late after driving up from the Midlands. I was a little worried by some of the reviews when booking, but had little time to decide a hotel and didn't want to stay in the centre....The young man at Reception was very polite, friendly, and helpful. Good first impressions, ample parking, and ideally situated from the town centre. Very easy to use the bus/ park and ride, and to find the hotel when nearing York. Our room was clean and comfortable. Good shower. Good facilities. Breakfast was reasonable, as expected. Seating area a little small perhaps.Overall, really nice short break and would definetly stay here again.

very easy to find. useful to have a cheap and cheerful restaurant right beside it. very friendly helpful staff. easy parking and not too far from park and ride into York.

We arrived the hotel to find that the room you had booked for us had been let to someone else. We were moved to another hotel, at the other side of York, to a room with no hot water. All in all not a very pleasant experience.

A truly awful stay, which reminds me never to stay in a Holiday Inn again. Where do I begin? No bedlinen or duvet, no soap in bathroom nor in shower, stale pastries for breakfast with undrinkable coffee, an old TV that doesn't work properly, noisy hotel guests who use the hotel for a cheap party, very young and obviously inexperienced staff. My advice? Look elsewhere.
