Very misleading advertisingThe hotel was so badly placed we did not even stay. We wrote off the £70 spent and stayed elsewhere. We are very upset about the experience.

Business trip to NewcastleUsual consistent high standards of accommodation with HI Express. Clean room, good shower - most important. Very convenient for the A1 - perfect. *Good staff on reception*Only grumble is the wireless internet service which was expensive and very poor compared to the free service available in many hotels.

We booked through laterooms & noticed that the hotel were selling the same room for £10 CHEAPER on their own website so we asked them why this was & they said they have different rates for different companies, but I thought laterooms was meant to be where you got a deal so I asked if they would refund us the £10 and they refused & didn't want to know. I found it a bit strange that we paid more through laterooms which in effect means I've paid £10 to leave this review!

Great value and service in Gateshead!Unbeatable value for money!! The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn't have been more helpful, we would definitely stay there again and in fact would probably choose to stay at other hotels in the chain as a result of our stay in Gateshead.

lazy staffwent to room, there was no mirror at the dressing table so we had to move about to a mirror getting ready, not what a woman wants to do.....needed iron board half way through getting ready, phoned reception and was told i would need to come and get it, while ironing was called by reception someone else needed the iron!!!!!!i eventually said you will have to come and get it as we were getting ready and said would leave it outside room, it was still there when we came back late that night!!!!Breakfast, they had run out of most things apart from bread for toast, when asked about croissants got tiold they bring them out oven every 15mins and we missed out.......

Stayed for one night with my daughter, after collecting her from Uni. Convenient location for A1. Clean room. Good service. Overall, an enjoyable stay. I would recommend it for a stop-over.

family visit to area for funeralI was entirely happy with both the accommodation and the service. The booking procedures were v. simple. The inability to use cash at night caused a few problems, as did the fact that the Priority Club had given me a card with incorrect details. The hotel staff successfully resolved the problem, with no fuss. Well done.

Breakfast very disappointing given that is the last experience of the hotel.

Stayed 2 nights for matchI stayed 2 nights for a Newcastle United match, overall the hotel is exactly what it says on the tin, it does the job for a shrt stay, the breakfast was typically continental but not bad. The bar in the hotel leaves a bit to be desired, and being on a football trip this was the only thing I wasnt satisfied with. Staff very friendly for the most part except for one exchange with an eastern european member of staff. I used the 10 bus to get in and out of the city, it stops just outside the hotel and is very frequent (every 10 mins) and takes about 15 mins to get into town. A goos hotel overall, would use it again.

Well satisfiedA very pleasant stay for one night, excellent value B & B. Room spotlessly clean and quiet. Well lit, monitored parking. Easy access in to Newcastle for dining. Could be difficult to find in the dark if you don't follow the directions precisely but we managed it. Recommended for short visits to student offspring!

comfortable accomodation with clean facilities, good choice of breakfast, reception can give idems you forgot for example tooth paste which is a big help. The location would be best suited if you have a car as although it says Metro Centre it's a good 15 minute walk along dual carriageway. Costs about £12 in a taxi to Newcastle Centre which reception can arrange for you.

The service was generally good, with friendly bar staff and reception staff. This was let down on our arrival when they mucked up our reservation and had us booked in for 4 rooms for 2 nights, not 2 rooms for 4 nights (I checked my confirmation, it was there mistake). They then tried to put me and a coleague in a room with a double bed and sofa bed and it took 10 minutes of negotiation before they agreed we could have a tein room as per our booking! They then lost the fax confirming that payment was to come from the company and didn't bother to look for it just telling us that we would be locked out our room the nexct day if our boss didn't phone to fix it. We asked in the morning and the helpful receptionist said to leave it with her. By the time we finished breakfast the fax had turned up and the matter was resolved!
