Sounds so simple, so why did it feel otherwise?I booked a room for the 17th July as I was attending the Cheltenham cricket festival. My girlfriend was joining my later in the evening and as I booked the room under my name and card I rang up to make sure that she could check in without me present as she was meeting me at the festival. I spoke with James on reception at which point I should have known better than to trust himm saying everything was sorted. It took him 6 attempts to spell my name correctly as he kept telling me that he could not find my booking. When he eventually did find it he said that he would leave a note and that there would be no issue with my girlfriend checking in without me. At 1800 that evening I received a call from my girlfriend saying that she was not able to check in without me present. I then had to leave the festival and meet her at the hotel to sort it out. Utter incompetence had meant that James had done nothing that he had said - and despite the room being clean and the Duty Manager discounting my room, I won't be staying here again.

Same as every other Holiday InnReception staff on arrival were efficient but could not be described as friendly or welcoming. In fact one of them was quite unhelpful to an American guest next to us.

Fantastic locationBooked the Holiday Inn Cheltenham through Laterooms as a surprise for my husbands 40th birthday adn we were all very pleased with the accomodation. As the hotel does not have a restaurant we were given a list of local food restaurants (Frankie n Bennys, Chiquitos, Mango, Nando's, Apres etc etc) which would give us a disount when we ate there - varying from 10 - 25% FANTASTIC. They are all located across the road from the hotel in a complex called the Brewery so very convenient. We had a drink and food in Apres - saving the whopping 25% and they also have Happy Hour every day from 3-9pm, food excellent and our son could have stayed there until 10.30pm if we wished as we were dining. There is also a large shopping centre 5 minutes from the hotel where I did some retail therapy. Staff very cheerful and friendly - even the cleaning staff we met. The one and only downside with the hotel in our opinion is not having a restaurant so we had to make do with a continental breakfast ( I was not bothered but my husband and son do like a full english in the morning), but when they offer the tremendous discounts on the eateries close by it faded into insignifigance. Ideal central location which we have already recommended to friends and would definately stay there again.

Beware air-conditioning!During the recent very hot weather, I ensured that I booked a hotel with air-conditioning in the bedrooms and I believed this hotel to have this. However it has air-cooled rooms which is not the same as air conditioned rooms, so although the room was cooler than a room with nothing, it wasn't cold. It is possible to open the one casement window a few inches.

Disabled bathroomI chose this hotel for its air-conditioning during the heatwave in early July. In that respect and with the LateRooms price the stay was satisfactory. However we were not told that the room we were allocated - Room 130 - was for the Disabled and the bathroom felt more like being on a hospital ward than staying in a hotel. It was far more fitted out as such than most hotels I have stayed in previously. This may sound an anti-social comment but it isn't. Of course I applaud hotels for providing these facilities for those who need them. I did wonder with my cynical experience of some hotels if the room allocation was deliberate because we were on the cheap LateRooms rate. It certainly wasn't because the hotel was full - it seemed far from full. In retrospect maybe we should have asked if a change of room was possible. Other than that the room was OK and the hotel itself is modern, well-situated, and air-conditioned throughout. The multi-story NCP car-park next door was OK and you can have your ticket authorised and paid for when checking out of the hotel. There was a discount reducing the 24-hour rate form £5.20 to £4.50.

Short stay at Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham Town Centre for businessThe staff at the front desk were polite and helpful. The hotel reception area was modern and clean. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. I stayed for 1 night on business so only a very brief stay, but very comfortable and good value for money, which was helped by the fact that we got a good deal through LateRooms.com which included a continental breakfast. There were restaurants and a gym close by but we did not use these because of time constraints. Use of the gym was included in our room rate.

THIS NEW HOTEL IS A GREAT FIND!Booked a room here for an overnight stay with family - in Cheltenham for a funeral. Reception staff very polite and the hotel is wonderfully clean, airy and bright. Beds very comfortable - my daughter was thrilled to be on a huge sofa bed. Only problem was with the shower, which drained so slowly that we didn't dare all use it for fear of flooding the room! Breakfast good, although bread was very thin (but it was a buffet). A big bonus is the Brewery centre opposite with a good range of restaurants, cinema and gym. Also, the NCP parking is next door and you get 24 hours parking at a reduced rate through the hotel.

Small, but well designed, modern rooms, in great locationWe stayed here for one night, with our family of 2 adults and 2 young children. The room was quite small, but well designed and functional. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The went to the sushi restaurant down the road called D-Fly, which had excellent food. The breakfast in the morning was quite basic, but still okay. Overall, a lovely stay.

Very nice hotel. Good location. Staff friendly and helpful. I had a probelem with noisy children next door and they soon had me moved. Breakfast fairly poor. No cooked food just toast , cereal croissants etc. Toaster was set too high and was burning the bread. Would stay here again if I could get another cheap deal but wouldnt pay normal rates.
