Old boutique hotel set on the edge of Downtown Seattle. We had booked a superior double room and we wondered what a standard room must have been like because our room was the smallesr room we have ever stayed in in thirteen trips to USA. Whilst the city transport system is excellent, for those people who enjoy walking, Seattle is very hilly especially from the sea side of the city into the downtown area. Eating out in the area around the hotel is expensive.

I and my Fiancee stayed here for a medical appointment April 22-23. We checked in late. The hotel decor lobby scams you thinking you are getting a great room. The lobby was great.. the check in gal was wonderful. We got up to our room., it looked ok. But on further investigation.. the tub was stained with dirt marks. I wouldn't put my dog in this bath tub let alone a kid or myself.. The bathroom floor had hair all over it. The bathroom mirror looked liked it had been rubbed with dry soap, it had a residue you could see. The bed sheets were stained...and more HAIR... DISGUSTING.. The windows wouldn't open.. the light bulbs were out. Maybe the room, got a lazy housekeeper from the night before. Given the price, it was the best in town. But given all the NASTY things found... Wouldn't stay there again. Unless armed with a gallon of bleach and rubber gloves. TO GIVE TO THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF. If you like to sleep in dirt, with a somebody's body hair--other than your own. This is the PLACE for you!!

I didn't want to walk in my barefeet on the carpeted floor. The bathrooms were tiny (I hit my knees on the opposite wall when I sat on the toilet, and I'm 5'3") as were the bedrooms. Wireless internet was slow. There was no elevator in the loby so I had to lug my suitcase up or down a set of stairs to get to an elevator. The night front desk person didn't smile and was unfriendly/unhelpful. I could hear everything from neighbors through the paper-thin walls. The only positive was the location - close to Pike Place. The bed was fairly comfortable, too.

Great location for walking downtown and surrounding areas! Yes the rooms are smaller but all you are doing there is sleeping so not that big of a deal.

When booking, I was given five different choices for the same price. I chose the superior single queen room, and got one much like the pictures on the hotel website. Cozy, with a chair. The linens were soft and expensive-feeling. Right across from the downtown library; in the 'hood with other posher hotels, took maybe five minutes tops to walk to Pioneer Square. Yes, the building is probably 70+ years old, but that gives it a lot of charm. They've updated things that needed it, but left the good bones of the building. The valet parking is cheaper than what you would pay to park on a regular public lot. The staff was kind, considerate, and immediately helpful to all my requests. My window wouldn't open, and the guy at the desk came right back up to my room and opened it for me (I had expected to have to go back to my room and wait for help). Plenty of restaurants, even vegetarian and a vegan grocery within walking distance. In-room wifi seemed fast enough, but then I have dial-up at home. No weird, overwhelming smells (or something trying to mask the weird smells). Everything was pleasant and clean. Their cable tv choices weren't my faves (no MSNBC). Room had a coffee pot but only decaf left for my coffee pleasure. Thank God there was a Seattle's Best in the lobby. There are a couple of short sets of stairs to get to the elevators or SBC. Did not see any alternative routes (ramps). Did not ask.

I would stay at this hotel again. The location is as good as it gets for the downtown area. You're about a mile from the stadiums and seattle center, and real close to pikes market. The monorail to seattle center was only 4 blocks away. The onle issue could be the size of the room. For an individual traveler, its just fine. But for a family or a couple, it may not be enough space.

Not a terrible hotel, noise traveled easely between rooms, maid threw away my only pair of ear plugs that I left on nightstand so last night of my stay was far from restful.

The "regular" rates were on par with other nice hotels in the area, but this place advertised "special" web rates and I fell for it. Very nice staff except for the day guy at the front desk, but the facility itself was awful. Dirty, old, and strange. I should have taken pictures of the bathroom. It was that bizarre and gross.

This hotel had a good location in Seattle. However, the bathroom was very small and the parking was offsite, inconvenient and very costly. The hotel was old (estimated age 80 to 100 years) and not well maintained in my opinion. I would not stay there again. No particular amenities were noted.

The hotel met our needs. We needed a place to sleep and in the morning we did a lot of site seeing. Its location was fantastic because it made everything within walking distance.

After booking our rooms in the hotel we checked comments made by previous guests and were worried by the negative reviews. However on arriving at the hotel we found the following 1..The front desk was very helpful. 2. Both rooms booked were clean and charming. 3. Bathrooms were small but quite adequate. 4. The coffee shop adjacent to the lobby was great 5. The bar and restaurant in the hotel was excellent. We had a great time in Seattle due partly to the fact of having a comfortable place to stay in the middle of downtown. The negative comments I read are maybe because some people are never satisfied or are spoiled rotten. Stay was Jan 22-27,2009.

This hotel is an excellent location close to everything - walking to Pike Market, Monorail, library, shops, and the most incredible restaurants. However, the hotel room was terrible. The hallway near our room had a terrible musty odor, and rooms are extremely small - even for two people! The closet also had the same musty, moldy odor. Shower was terrible and did not dtrain properly, we found ourselves in almost 1 to 2 feet of water while taking showers daily. The walls are EXTREMELY thin and you hear everything. Also, you can hear alot of noise and traffic from the streets; I had to go buy some earplugs at the nearby Rite Aid 4 blocks down. I had to iron some clothes and found the iron did not get hot enough. This is a terrible, terrible, hotel and the only great thing is the location. However, the front desk and other staff are very friendly and nice. Also, there is a small computer in the business area to check emails. Or you can go across the street to the library and also use free service. This hotel is good for a one night, brief business stay. The rooms are very, very, basic with no microwave or refrigerators or daily newspapers. I definitely would NOT stay at this place again.

The hotel was located right in the downtown area of Seattle. This was great. The only downside was that the room I stayed in was not renovated and I was located right next to the elevators. It was an older building so all night I could hear the elevators going up and down. Just hope you do not get a room next to them.

Ive stayed here serveral times throughout the year. But this last time is my LAST for this place. Unclean - looks like management just let it to run itself down. Another re-model project is in the plan? The carpet especially was old and dirty. Don't mind the teeny tiny rooms, but it has to be clean if i were to touch the wall every time i turn around. Unfriendly Staff - why save a few bucks and put up with the unresponsive staff? I stayed there because of its proximity to my friend's place. But if you were just a visitor to Seattle and rely on the staff assistant as to what to do/see in the city. You are out of luck. They don't even smile as you come/leave the hotel. Look Around - There is an OVER supply of hotel rooms everywhere. Call them directly if you know a specific dates of your stay and negotiate with them. Best yet. Rent a condo, if you want to be downtown, there are LOTS of condo owners that rent out their units. Personalized service, convenience PLUS you'll get to experience what's its like to be a local.

Yes, the walls are on the thin side. Yes, the rooms are small (quaint is more like it). But when you consider where in Seattle you are and what is near by, it is a great hotel for the money. I found the bathrooms had a shabby chic kind of feel to them. The bed was incredibly comfortable, I can't stress that enough, super compfy. The front desk staff was as helpful as I needed them to be. Virtually everything I wanted to see was within walking distance. I would recommend this to anyone, though because of the smallish rooms perhaps not families. If you don't like the thin walls or small rooms go stay at a holiday inn or something, prude.

The room was small as expected but this hotel is so centrally located to everything that we did not even use our car. Seattle is a wonderful place to just WALK. When we go back, we will probably stay in the same place but leave the car, parking is awful. Service is good and staff is polite and helpful. We did have a great time.

It was easy to find, located in downtown Seattle. Pets are welcome for free. Bed is comfortable and clean, 4 pillows for a good night's rest. Very good price for the quality and comfort.

Since i went for business, this place's location was great as it was in the heart of downtown, also walking distance to pike's place and various shopping areas. The staff was nice and their waiting area was decent as well. My only gripe really was the cleanliness of the room. I found other people's strands of hair on the blanket when i first got in the room (not a lot but still some) and i felt they could use a new elevator. Otherwise, decent hotel.
