Description:
Ettington Park is situated six miles south of Stratford upon Avon. It is a Victorian neo-gothic mansion, set in 40 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland, bordered by the River Stour. It was originally the home if the Shirley family and has been associated with them since the Doomsday Book. The house's rich and colourful history is written all over it - on the scores of friezes, stained glass windows and coats of arms that embellish its walls. All bedrooms and suits are individually furnished and decorated, many offering superb views of the Victorian gardens and surrounding countryside. This distinct character is complemented further by roaring log fires in the public areas. The many lounges include the Great Drawing Room and The Library, both of which are rich with antique furniture and fine paintings. The Award winning cuisine is enhanced by the Oak Room restaurant, dating back to 1740. The restaurant has been awarded 2 rosettes by the AA and serves superb food and wine in splendid surroundings. Our award-winning chefs use the finest suppliers and scour the small local farms for fresh produce to create food that is light and flavourful. The hotel is within easy reach of London and Birmingham, which is a 45 minute drive. Ettington Park is a tranquil haven for leisure breaks, conferences and weddings. A wide range of activities are available including a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and spa bath; all weather tennis courts and croquet. Beauty treatments, clay pigeon shooting and archery all available on request or you could fish the River Stour, which meanders through our grounds. Nearby, you'll discover some of the country's most beautiful gardens and villages, as well as fascinating historical sites such as Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle and of course, Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon.

I would rather stay at faulty towers than pay their extortionate bar prices, they were ridiculously high.

A beautiful hotel, set in parklandWe stayed for four days half board, and enjoyed every minute. The staff could not have been more helpful, and quality of decor and furnishings was to a very high standard. It's very much you get what you pay for and the Ettington Park will not disapoint.Thankyou for giving us a wonderful time.May you long continue.

mature couplelovely hotel, food was priced with extra suppliments for everything even though the deal was half board. You had a very limited choice at the inclusive price. Leisure complex good, but changing difficult as no privacy. For the first time ever, breakfast was had by one resident in his dressing gown!!!!!!!!!

Really DisappointedI'm big on value for money and this sadly wasn't. The house is grand, the pool fantastic and on the whole the service is good. However for £150 a night it missed the mark with a number of relatively small things. The bed was incomfortable and the bath could have been cleaner amoung others. The real disappointment was the restaurant. Firstly wine at £11.25 for a large glass is expensive by anyone's measure. The table d'ote menu @ £35 was an average soup, salmon which there was nothing the matter with and desserts which were just slightly undercooked. Even at breakfast the next day we sent the toast back because it was stone cold. If this was a £70 a night hotel with average hotel meal prices I would have been impressed but it isn't, so I wasn't. I'm delighted to pay 5* prices so long as I have a 5* experience.

Fantastic highly recommended most pleasurable stayWe stayed for one night at Ettington Park in May as a stopover on our way to the Malven Show, I can only praise the hotel for it's stunning location and surroundings, the level of care that has been taken to maintain the essence of the old manor house is commendable. During our stay the staff were very pleasant and helpful, it was clear they thoroughly enjoyed their work, nothing was too much trouble and they were efficient and polite and very friendly taking time out to properly talk to guests. Breakfast is outstanding and the attention to detail and customer satisfaction is truly worthy of a high quality venue such as this. I would not hesitate to stay again and would recommend it to anyone.

staff not greatwe found the staff pretty un professional at this hotel. Firstly one of the staff let himself into our room when we were relaxing in the afternoon. my husband was getting changed at the time and we found this unacceptable. Noone apologised until i called reception to confirm why it had happened. When calling reception we were met by giggling receptionists on several occassions. We found the staff to be a little fake and only putting on the POSH accents to suit the POSH guests. Myself and my husband do not fall into that catergory thank goodness. I think the room was quality for money but tea for 2 at £8.00 i do not feel is good quality. Take some snacks with you unless you have an endless pot of money.

SuperbWonderful hotel, wonderful greeting. We had a thoroughly good time in this lovely hotel with its outstanding grounds and were made to feel very relaxed, an unusual experience with two young children. Thanks again to all the staff.

Quite disappointingWe booked an executive room but got a standard room on the first night. They did not flag this. There were used tissues and biscuit wrappers in the drawers. Moved to an executive room on the second night which was ok but not amazing. The food in the lounge was very overpriced and not very nice so we ate out for our main meals. We also got charged for someone elses supper so check your bill. The swimming pool is tiny. The best thing about the hotel was the grounds, which were beautiful and very well kept and the staff were helpful and attentive.

Enchanted TreasureThis was our favorite place that we stayed on our trip. It felt like we were guests at a historic home. The historic integrity has been retained throughout all of the common areas. We had fun exploring the grounds and walking near the creek watching the little lambs play. The bonus was finding out this is the most haunted hotel in England and that The Haunting was filmed here!

Nearly good!!!Great room, comfortable and warm. Arrived in room to a bowl of rotting fruit. No problem, it was removed. Such a shame that no-one offered fresh. On request though this was resolved. Apart from this the accommodation was fine. More than I can say for the restaurant service. Booked for 7pm at the hotels request (only time left available). Arrived on time, given table and forgotten for 25 minutes. After calling out, waving arms and nearly whistling we received 2 menus. Funny though..... they were completely different!!! Enough said. The dining experience was a disaster. The service about the worst I have ever received in any hotel and the food very average. But oh the price..... staggering!!! And the final insult. One Tirimisu served in a champagne glass for TEN pounds. These people must be joking. They will never servive a credit crunch. As far as I know poor service and high prices (Very high prices) does not spell continued success.

A Quiet WeekendOverall a very nice hotel and friendly staff. Unfortunately we had booked for a quiet weekend away and found a wedding booked for the same 2 nights. As a result, the hotel was very busy with the resulting noise, staff being busy, beer running out, and the restaurant/kitchen probably suffering from too many meals to prepare etc. It didn't spoil the weekend but perhaps couples booking a weekend stay should be informed of a major function so that they can decide for themselves whether to go ahead with the booking.

A wonderful HoneymoonWe arrived to a wonderfully warm welcome and our stay just got better and better. The staff are so freindly and helpul. The accommodation was also first class, the room service excellent and the food in the main restaurant was superb. The only small gripe we had was that the shower in teh room lacked power. Other than that it was a great few days away from it all and well worth going back to.

A one night stay to see a play in Stratford, for which this hotel is very convenient. We didn't dine, but had a reasonable afternoon tea (good scones) and an excellent breakfast. The outside temperature never rose above freezing, but inside we were warm and comfortable in a generously sized room. Did not see any of the myriad of ghosts but enjoyed the history of the house - unbroken descent through the male line since pre-Norman times, Shakespeare a visitor with a mention of the family in one of his plays - and there looked to be good walking from the door. Each of the staff friendly and welcoming and very good service.

The service really makes this hotel - it's very personal and the staff is wiling to offer help with a very pleasant manner. The food was generous and excellently cooked. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed, but special, as is the hotel itself. The pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna were great temperature and clean, so very appealing to use.Only complaint is that the rooms in the modern annex seem to have no soundproofing. We could hear every word from our neighbor's television, and people talking in the halls, The heating doesn't work very well either in this part, and the showers were more lukewarm than hot. Otherwise, it was a very good choice for a break.

We were happy with the hotel and facilities, but would not eat here again. The breakfast was good, but the evening meal was bad, and certainly not worth the money. Couple of nice looking pubs down the road would be our choice next time.
