Wedding reception made the facilities very busyThere was a wedding reception being held which made the facilities very busy, so we did not use the pool and spa as we wanted too as it was full of children - not what is wanted when you have come away to chilll. The the disco from the wedding went on quite late was rather noisyChecking in and out was very slow. Disappointed that the hotel wasn't as 'old with as much character ' as the web site pictures suggested .However, food was good, rooms were clean, and location is convenient for Stratford and other local attractions

The facilities, particularly the gym and swimming pool, are excellent. For the price we paid, exceptional value. Breakfast was included and had well stocked. The free tea/coffee/juice in the common area is a pleasant surprise.

Did anyone know what they were doing?Good value for money and very clean. However, although staff were friendly and polite, they did not seem to know anything about the services allegedly on offer. We requested a taxi which they assured us they would order. Three reminders and a half hour wait later it finally arrived and confirmed they had only just called the order in. We saw reception staff totally ignore a request for help from a carer with a friend in a wheel chair. We asked them to assist but he eventually gave up and went away. Orders for morning papers were ignored and no apology offered when I asked where it was .. an airy " oh the order wasn't processed "was the only explanation. You have to wait for a table at breakfast and food ran out frequently or was almost cold. Reception staff told us breakfast was from 7am, but kitchen staff wouldnot open the doors until 7 30am. Potentially it is a lovely hotel but some serious staff training needs to be done!

A bit outside Strafford so do need a car. Rooms are big, comfortable and clean. Every room has its iron and ironing board plus a press board for yr shirts/pants and these comes in useful. At least the TV is of the latest and there is an X box. Woudl be great if we were told earleir so we could bring along our X box games as the hotel does not provide. Nothing great about surroundings. Breakfast is below average.

A relaxing weekend break.Although the internet pictures depicted an older mansion house type building, Ettington Chase is mainly a recent new build hotel. That said, the rooms were modern, comfortable and well worth the money. The swimming pool and health facilities are very good. There is a large car park and extensive grounds to wander and settle down with a good book. Breakfast on the first morning was a rather disorganised affair and the dining room seemed to be unprepared and understaffed with many residents having to eat in adjacent rooms. The following morning the management got their act together and everything went smoothly. The village of Ettington is a sleepy one which boasts 2 pubs (use the short cut and the gate in the corner of the field - 5min stroll). The White Horse is a typical village pub with reasonable pub grub and a good atmosphere - on the evening we were there a Psychic was due to be in attendance, however he didn't turn up due to unforeseen circumstances!!! The other pub (they probably wouldn't want to have such a common name associated with the premises) was the more up market Chequers Inn - it was ok but not really my cup of tea. For a really good meal try The Houndshill which is approx 2 miles away on the Stratford Road. All in all, Ettington Chase is excellent value for money (£99 weekend for 2) and I would recommend it as a suitable base from which to explore the surrounding attractions.

A fabulous hotel - can't wait to go back!Everything here was great!. The room was modern, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi were great - a decent sized pool compared with pools in other hotels I have used. Breakfast was superb - a really good choice of hot and cold items and as it was a buffet you could eat as much or as little as you wanted each day. Value for money is excellent. One small gripe - the tea, coffee and milk etc were not topped up when the room was cleaned and neither was the loo roll!!!! But we will definitely be staying here again soon!

Weekend BreakAlthough we enjoyed our stay at Ettington Chase we were dissapointed with the Sunday Buffett, which for the price was quite poor and the service left quite a lot to be desired, and breakfast on the first morning (Monday) was also very poor service they were obviously short of staff, however, we reluctantly used the restaurant Monday evening and things were a lot better and also breakfast on the Tuesday was a lot better organised.

Great Location for Stratford and areaSpacious comfortable rooms and a big English Breakfast buffet. Ample free parking. This hotel is only 15 minutes from Stratford but considerably better value, well worth the drive. Got an excellent weekend rate.

Two day BreakExcellent low cost break at special rate of £49.50. We didn't have time to use the swimming pool and Gym, but looked ideal for the energetic wanting a work out. Only fault with the breakfast was the poot quality sausages. This is a conference centre, but still ideal for both business and lesure

Good value weekend break accommodationThis is a conference hotel which means you get a standard, clean, comfortable room but no individuality. I booked this as it was excellent value (do check the special offers tab!) at £99 for two nights B & B and we just wanted a base for the weekend. Location is ideal for visiting Stratford on Avon. We only had breakfast at the hotel as we prefer to try local restaurants and I'd recommend Russons in Stratford. One point the hotel could improve on is providng information on local attractions. Staff were friendly and service fine.

Ettingham Chase! We arrived at the hotel and greeted by friendly staff at reception at 1400. The hotel restaurant was fully booked and we therefore had to spend £30 in taxi fares to go into stratford. The hotel was littered with cups, glasses etc from the previous guests the tables dirty and the outside courtyard littered with cigarettes. The room was clean and of a high standard very spacious with a lovely bathroom. However the stairs upto our room happened to be near the kitchen and the smell was awful! (I dread to think what the kitchen was like) The spa centre is basic and not staffed you have to take your own towels and the changing facilaties poor. We spent a lovely evening in Stratford but the hotel is too far away, we will stay closer if we visit again. If you do stay at Ettingham chase DO NOT EAT THE BREAKFAST! Health and safety definately need to visit. The dining room was full so they were sitting people in the corridor. The smell from the kitchen was true cheap, horrible food. The sausage and bacon had a blue tinge. I had a bowl of cereal, hope the other guests who ate the food are ok. The hotel appears to be running itself the only staff we saw were a girl at reception and a few waiters, oh and don't bother ordering a morning paper as they don't bring it and the lie that it ia on it's way for 2hrs. If you do decide to stay, don't leave the room its the only nice thing about the hotel!

This hotel met our expectations. The room matched the photo's posted on this website. Our room was a decent size and comfortable. Bathroom was good quality with an excellent shower. Although we didn't eat dinner in the hotel, we did have a snack in the Games Bar and it was just what we needed. The breakfast, although adequate was not as good as I had expected. I would have liked to have had a broader choice of fresh fruit, cold meats etc... We did try the pub mentioned in another review but weren't impressed. This food was not of good quality and I found the noise in the pub overbearing - from just one table.

Weekend break.Stayed at Ettington hotel for one night over a weekend. Myself, my partner and a young child shared a family room which was ideal and was very clean. Found the customer sevrice to be excellent throughout, from the staff in the hotel bar right through to the people on the front desk. Everyone we met was helpful and accomodating. The breakfast we had was good quality and the facilities excellent, would reccomend and we hope to stay again in the future.

A nice place to stay and excellent value at £49 per night B&B!Whilst the facilities are geared for conferencing, the hotel still caters well for guests. Only criticism would be the need for queuing at breakfast with many tables unoccupied! Other than that the facilities are good with a pool, jacuzzi, sauna.

None existent breakfast !This hotel needs to get the kitchen and dining room sorted...On the first night dinner service was very slow and food was cold, waiters appeared to be wandering around aimlessly with plates of food not knowing where to take them, we were informed that there had been a problem with the ChefOn our first morning we were down for breakfast at 7 and there was no problem, on the 8th July we were ready for breakfast at 8:20 and there was hardly any food left, it was self service and there was no bacon, no sausages and no eggs (Either fried or scrambled) the black pudding was overcooked and very hard and the manageress admitted that it was unacceptable. Small quantities of bacon were brought but they were inadecuate. Another guest informed us that it had been the same on the 7th but because we were early we had missed all the chaos.Apparently the hotel is geared for conferences and can not cope with numbers of bed & breakfast guests !!! This is what we were told
