Valet Staff was excellent, and the gardens were very nice.

Nice staff, comfortable room. Extra fees, pool not open late valet parking only. Overall very nice hotel with a friendly staff. Not happy with all the extra fees and valet only parking that cost $25. The resort fees ($12) is suppose to cover the pool, wireless Internet, and who knows what else. Plenty of nice hotels in La Jolla that does not charge for pool use.

Just spent 2 days at Estancia, and what a surprise it was. Beautiful grounds, great pool, and just an overall comfortable and positive vibe. I woke up each morning and ran over to the Torrey Pines Glider Port and down to the beach. Nice hotel - would return.

I was debating between the Hyatt or this hotel and I am very disappointed I didn't choose the Hyatt. I ended up paying for valet plus for hospitality which includes "house keeping" each day and it ended up costing me more than . You cannot park your car in the parking lot, because this hotel offers valet only. I have stayed in four star hotels before both in FL and Italy and I have never payed any extra fees like these ones. The room was okay, nothing impressive. I stayed in a resort in FL and the bedroom had a nice jacuzzi, this one looked more or less like a three star hotel. The staff never informed us of any extra fees until we checked out. I paid breakfast for two people, you better head to the Original House of Pancakes, the food is so much better and it doesn't cost 40. Just because this hotel is located in la Jolla it doesn't mean is a four star hotel.

The hotel and staff were superior. Clean, plush, and gorgeous grounds. The price was great until the mandatory valet parking fee ($25/day) and the $14/day hospitality fee were factored in. Even so, it was worth it, but I would have prefered to know the full price up front.

Beautiful gardens, excellent staff, very peaceful. They charged extra fees at the end of my stay. Great hotel, beautiful gardens, wonderful and friendly staff, very close to downtown la Jolla, but watch out for the extra fees which are not included.

Estancia was a very pleasant place with a spa mentality; the setting and the staff are there to make you fell well-taken care of. Beautiful facility with outstanding gardens. Room was spacious and in good taste. Nothing like a motel. I would like to come back with my wife, just for the pleasure of being there.

I previously rated this hotel and I have to say that I called back the hotel and explained to them how upset I was for paying fee per day for valet. I told them that the Travelocity website has them listed as free parking so the manager was very understanding and refunded that fee no problem. I am very happy that I got back back for the parking fee. I still think the Hotel was nice but I was expecting a little more. The manager really helped me changed my mind about how awful I felt about the place, one thing that I did like it was that it was a quiet place and no traffic every time we went back to the hotel.

Understated elegance. Comfortable and clean. The rooms are the perfect size and very cozy. I really like this hotel!

This is a beautiful hotel, and as we were there for our destination wedding, it was perfect. The lobby staff upgraded our room once they found out we were getting married and were very helpful. We were located in a room off the back garden, and it was lovely. The fauna is beautiful and a perfect retreat for the purpose. The downsides are the following: 1. If you have a car, you will be charged $25 per day for valet parking. You will also be charged $12 per day for a hospitality charge. We arrived on Friday and flew out on Monday, so the additional cost to us, plus incidental local taxes was $120 moving the online travel website package out of the "good deal" range. 2. housekeeping was unimpressive at best. Things like an iron my husband used was not put away (I couldn't get the water out and had left it on the floor in the bathroom where it remained all weekend). The bed was made and my crappy coffee grounds were replaced but the tea was not. I had to go swipe the tea bags from my brother's room. For the money, the housekeeping was lacking. 3. The bar is lovely, but the prices are horrible. I bought 3 drinks, 2 mojitos and a rum and coke for myself, brother and husband. With a $2 tip, it came out t0 $35! Again, the lobby staff were wonderful as were the valet, even after we didn't tip them every time we left the hotel (mostly because we were ticked off at the "hospitality" charge). The grounds really are extraordinary! The small but equiped gym near the pool is perfect for the location. The hot tub was perfect!

The place is definitely beautiful. It is nestled in a private location and the grounds are pristine and impecable. The lobby and the restaurants/bar areas are very relaxing and welcoming. The staff was great. Our disappointment came when we tried to book a couples massage, being that it was our anniversary and all. When we called, we were disappointed to find out that there was absolutely nothing available at the spa all weekend. Funny..since it is a Resort & Spa. When we inquired further, we were told that we had to book services 3 weeks in advance..that's a little difficult to do when you make your reservations only 2 weeks in advance. Parking is 20/day for self parking. Why?! Aren't we guests? There is also a 12/day resort fee which we did not use since we were not able to use the facilities. I believe that fee applies to the gym..WOW! Although the grounds and hotel itself is great, it is quite a ways from downtown La Jolla. Good thing we don't drink and drive. Another disappointment was the fact that Ipay a lot of money to hold an American Express Platinum Card that gets us upgrades when available. we were not asking to be upgraded to a suite, but just to a balcony. That was a little disappointing.

Beautiful, relaxing setting with excellent service. Valet fee & food costs. We were very pleased with our stay at La Estancia in LaJolla. Staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel & grounds and amenities were top notch and very pleasing & relaxing. Would definitely return.

The hotel is very comfortable, good restaurants, good gym and pool, and good personnel. But, there were two extra expenses: 1. to use any of the hotel's amenities (including pool, gym, and even internet access), they charge $12.00 a day, and 2. Valet parking is the only parking option, and that costs additional $25.00 per day. Neither of these is out of line, but it does increase the cost of the room by $ a day above the quoted price.

I planned a stay for my wife and myself based upon the reviews that I read about this place and most of them were right on the money. We both found this place to be very enjoyable and cozy for our 22nd anniversay. The staff was nice, professional and friendly and they went out of their way to make sure that you got exactly what you need,.whether it was directions or information.

I'm a professional photographer. I went to La Jolla from Colorado to photograph my clients. I wanted something close to the beach so I could enjoy the sun, surf and sand while I was there. This hotel looked to be the perfect location, between La Jolla and Del Mar where I would be photographing. So while the hotel was first class in every way, there were a few small things that bothered me. Upon arrival, I was told there would be a $25 per day charge for parking. (My fault, it was in the fine print but I didn't see it.) Upon check out, I was told there would be a $12 per day resort charge, (which wasn't in the fine print). To their credit they dismissed the resort charge when I expressed my displeasure. With taxes that would have added another $50 a day. If I had to do it over (and I will when I return) I'll stay closer to the beach with a view of the ocean for what amounts to the same price.

Beautiful landscape. A wonderful place to stay & enjoy all of its facilities. I wished I had more time to use the spa & pool. Lovely landscaped grounds and good service all around. Breakfast at the El Adobe restaurant overlooking the courtyard fountain was a wonderful way to start our day!

This was the second time I've stayed here and I really like it. The pool area is nice and relaxing. The staff is very accomodating. However the bar Mustangs & Burros it's service takes forever and the menu is very limited for their casual dining. But overall it was a great experience!

Parking should be included as well as the 9/day fee for nothing. But, it is beautiful, clean, food good. There is always a group and no spa appointments so book with them if you're interested as soon as you pay for the room. You can't get a hot tub or steam room in the gym-part of the spa and that's extra too unless you get a spa service.
