The room was larger than some, although there was inadequate light at night for reading. Had an in-room refrigerator, which I like while traveling, but our particular fridge never really got cold enough to keep beverages at a proper temperature. Furnishings and layout of the room were nice but we also had a problem in that the bathtub drain would not hold so on nights when we might have liked to soak and relax, we were only able to use the shower. Pleasant patio that looked out over the courtyard, although it was too cold in mid-February to avail ourselves of it. If I were to travel to this area again, I would return to this resort as it's relatively good value for what they charge.

Airline reservations, Car rental arrangements were excellent. This resort was a very nice facility 20-30 years ago. Service was less than satisfactory. When we checkied-in around 5:00 p.m., there was no one at the front desk for approx 10 minutes. After a long wait, the four couples-in our group were assigned rooms in 3 different buildings. Although there were only 10-15 autos in the parking lot, we were unable to move to the same building or a closer building- supposedly sold out. This facility must be leased to various companies that have business in Mexico, because there was never anyone there during our stay! There had no baggage assistance and we had to lug our bags up 4 exterior stairs. We had one meal @ the resort, service was extremely slow, food quality was fair. We found several restaurants in the area that were fine. We would not return to this facility.

When your company has to travel to Mexico, this is the nicest place in the area. The staff was polite and very accomidating. Food in the bar was first class and now you do not have to leave the hotel. My employees and I will return.

My husband and I heard about the resort from some friends. We were so glad we did. The drive up the hill side you feel like you were far from home but just hours away. The staff was so friendly at check in. The rooms clean and decorated with Mexican Flar We will be back.

Excellent staff, wonderful dining experience, and peaceful grounds. Staff very knowledgable about scenic areas and things of interest to do while in town. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a weekend get-a-way close to home or anyone traveling through the area.

The resort had great drive up appeal and was very well kept. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The lighting in the room could have been better and it was very cold in my room. The heater was decent but either made the room very hot or very cold. I stayed here in a winter month and I am sure it would have been fine if the weather outside would have been warmer. The dining room at the restaurant was really nice and even had some curtains to close to make your booth very private. All in all a very good stay

This is the second time at the resort. I ate in the dining room and the new menu and food was the best I had in the area. The desk staff is friendly and will take care of all your needs. I had time to play nine holes of golf. The greens were in great shape.

We travel often and found this resort in the AAA book. What a great place. Everyone was really nice and while the facility was on the older side, it was very well maintained and all of the people working there were amazingly friendly. We will be back again.

Best place in the area to stay. We played golf and the course was in great condition. We had birds singing out side our patio and we slept great. We only had the two days and what we experienced was a great knowledable staff and clean well maintained rooms. We already made reservations for next month.

My friend and I planned a get away from L.A for a couple of days. Browsing around the web we found this hotel. We looked into it and were impressed by the pictures people had on reviews and on the hotel website. When we arrived the views were so much better in person. We were greeted by wonderful staff, it made us feel welcome. The walk to the room was extremely calm the scenery and plant life was so beautiful we wanted to take some flowers home with us! The room we stayed in had to most breathtaking view of the valley towards tucson and the mountains, we spent the sunsets out on our balcony drinking apple martinis! The sunsets made us forget that we were somewhere far from home they were more beautiful here than on the beaches of California. Dining was spectacular the items in the menu made you crave almost everything. Friday we spent our night in the bar singing away with the people in the bar. Friday is Kareoke night!! It was so much fun and the bar service was outstanding. Sunday we had their Sunday Brunch and we were please with the selections of food that they had there, especially the Omelette Station. Checking out was a breeze we were wished a farewell and a safe trip from the lovely front desk staff. This hotel is one of the best i have stayed at for an affordable price. I have no regrets.

Came down with two of my children for a little "away time" . Played golf both friday night and sturday morning. What a wonderful time. Golf course was great and suprisingly not crowded for a Saturday morning (keep that one to yourself). The pro says that they are much busier during the week. Had both dinner and breakfast at the resort. Both meals were not only great (the service was a little slow), but right on for the price. For breakfast, all three of us had the full on deal, with juice, coffee, eggs benedict (with green chillies) yet, it was under $30. Super stay, good getaway from Tucson. This place is great, not expensive and a really great value. If I did this at La Paloma or Ventana, it would have been $5-600. With golf two meals and the room, it was under $250. Besides, it's just far enough away that you can not answer your cell phone and not feel guilty.

I stayed at the Esplendor expecting it to be like the other hotels in the area. I was pleasently surprisesd to fing how pieceful after a hard day of work it was. The pool area was nice ans at night when you walk though the resort, it feels that you are in a tropical location. The fitness center had more different equipment tht I had a great daily workout. The front dek staff was well informed of what to do in the area and was even willing to make reservations and maps for me. When back in business in the area, thereis no where else to stay.

We stayed at the resort for a long weekend on recommendation of a friend. This place is beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. Mexico is 10 minutes away and the location was perfect for day trips shopping in Mexico, leasurely afternoons/evenings at the Resort. My 7 y/o daughter loved the huge heated pool and the outdoor jacuzzi is a real treat at night after walking all day. Overall, the Resort is very clean and the staff couldn't be nicer. We'll be back(and we'll tell our friends).

Wow what a great place to retreat/refresh. The front desk service was top notch and all the employees we met were very friendly. The amenities--pool--jacuzzi--perfect I thought the best amenitie was a few minutes away--the golf course owned by the hotel. An original Robert Trent Jones Sr design.. It was like a beautiful park. Rolling hills and large trees were abundant.. The greens were some of the best I've played. Bentgrass greens made this an extra special treat--fast, true and smooth. At almost 4000 ft elevation the golf ball travels well. The room service was excellent and the food was a good value. The Saloon was like what you'd see in an old western movie with all the fixings. The city of Nogales, Sonora-Mexico was just a 10 minute ride down the freeway Photo ID is still valid w/birth certificate--if you don't have a passport yet. The bargins are everywhere and the people willing to assist any of your need. They'll even carry any large items back across the border and deliver items to your car Don't forget to hit the Jacuzzi after either a round of golf or a walk across the border--

We had such a wonderful experience staying at the Rio Rico Resort. From the minute that we walked in to check in through check out we experienced extremely courteous staff members, beautiful surroundings, great food, clean and comfortable room. We made several specific request which were met without hesitation and everyone involved met them cheerfully and politely. We will go back again and will be recommending it to our friends and family. Thank You for a great stay.

My wife and I required a clean place with a pool and a staff with social skills (not forced "business" etiquette). We got that and more: clean room with great view; very good breakfast, and well-located to Mexico. Good value for the price. Would come again.
