I know certified life guards are expensive but with the large number of children that use the pool and many are out of control, it is just a matter of time until there is a life threatening injury. A lifeguard should be present al least during peak usage times. Many parents are ignorant to pool safety so you can't count on them but they will yell the loudest when their child is hurt.

The beach location and pool were fantastic. The pool closed down for 20 hours, which was 7 hours longer than they promised.

This is one of the few condos/hotels in Galveston that is truly on the beach - not just "beachfront" requiring you to cross a busy 5 lane road. Condos are privately owned, so don't plan on getting the beautifully decorated one shown in the advertisement. However, the complex is new (2-3 years), so you won't have any "old" decor/appliances. The smaller junior suite is really small once you pull out the sofa bed. And there's no oven - just mircowave. Plan on bringing food (you'll pass a Walmart on the way) because there's no restaurant/snack bar on the property and nothing within a mile or 2. Our young teenagers enjoyed the beach and pool, but at 10PM it gets locked down and there's no gameroom or any place to "hang out".

We came up from Whitehouse, Texas and stayed at the Escapes hotel. We were happy that they offered a condo type room (with kitchenette) for less than 3 days. When we tried to check in early (at 1:00...check in is at 4) they said our room was still being cleaned, but they let us use the pool while we waited. Our room unfortunatlly was at the far, outside end of the hotel which was furthest away from the beach, but it still had a balcony and a decent view. The only complaint I would have about the balcony is that it is extremly small and only one person can enter at a time. And watch out for the door stoop as well because we almost broke our toes a few times. The hotel offered diswashing detergent, laundry detergent, dishes, washer/dryer, and a dvd player. The dryer didn't work in our unit, but it was still cool to know that they offer the detergent free. The only bad thing about the service is that the office is only open 8am to 8pm. Our key wasn't working because of the sand on the card, so we would have been screwed if we hadn't got it to work. So ask for extra stuff before 8pm. The unit we were in didn't have a tv in the bedroom, so that was disappointing and there wasn't a window. The air condition really rocks, we turned it all the way down and it chilled out in there. All in all, it was pretty decent. You only pay a little more and you get to be right on the beach. Beach traffic isn't so bad because it's past the seawall and it's technically a private beach. Thumbs up for the money.

We checked in a little before 4PM...would have liked to check in earlier. Had a cart to load our stuff on and took it up the elevator to the room. Loved the beach and loved that we did not have to cross a major road to get to it. It was clean and quiet. The Escapes is one of the only Hotels that has the beach on the same side as hotel. It is also very quiet on San Luis Pass. It's crazy on the Seawall. Did not like that the "walk-way" was closed...also wish the outside shower had been working. Not a deal-breaker though. When you check in, check the notebook at the front desk. You can sign up for a Continental Breakfast...it's usually only one morning a week...can also sign up for children's activities...can make a pillow, seashell frame, root beer floats...cost is up to $5. My daughter loved it. The staff will not mention the book, so make sure you look for it. They also have a washer and drier...we did not see the washing powder on the top of the machine...look for it...you can use it to wash your clothes and towels...they will not give you extra towels. Really wanted to get in the hot tub that first night, but it was closed for 2 days...that was a bummer. We had the small one bedroom suite. It was perfect for me, husband, 8 and 6 year old. Roomy. Nice patio. Some patios were small, ours was perfect. Had coffee maker with coffee/filters...may want to bring your own coffee, I did. No oven. Has dishwasher, toaster, blender, microwave, etc. Turn on the ice maker, we forgot. Extra blankets in drawers. No guide or list of what is on TV...that would have been nice...has regular cable. 2 TV's and DVD players & radio. They give you shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath gel & rag when you check in...nice little gift. Have coffee in lobby...it's on the 1st floor...check in there...not the garage floor. Shlitterbaun has half price tickets...3pm to close. Take advantage of that, I wish we would have. Go to NASA while you are there, it's worth it. It's only about 40 minutes away. P

It was on the beach and viewed the beach. Nothing. We love to stay at escapes, but you have no availability for July or august.I have been looking and unfortunately we booked the escapes through the condo.I had to pay more for it but we like our weekend getaways in the summer.

I loved every minute of this vacation, thanks to Escapes! I had a 1 bedroom Elite, and it was very roomy and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The view from our balcony was indescribable. Just beautiful! We had full view of the pool & ocean. The beach was right there at the hotel. Most of the hotels in Galveston are across the street from the beach which makes it very dangerous when you have the kids with you. I loved the fact that we could just head to the beach without leaving our hotel. The heated pool was awsome too. This was an all around wonderful condo for a family getaway.

My family had a blast just hanging by the pool and going to the beach. The location was great. We went Independence Day weekend. Most beaches were really crowded, but the one by the hotel had more privacy. It was also nice having the shower outside to rinse off the salt water before going inside. I have one complaint about the elevators. They don't allow much time for you to get on, especially if its a large group or you have luggage. They just start closing and they're very heavy. They could really hurt someone. I don't think they have sensors and they are very difficult to stop. One more thing is the comfort of the beds. They were very hard. I left a little achy. Those are really my only complaints. I liked that they had a washer and dryer available for 2 rooms to share. The rooms came fully stocked with kitchen supplies. Overall, Our experience was very pleasant. It's not a luxury hotel, but for that price, we would definitely stay there again.

The staff was very friendly. Everyone greeted us from check-in to the maids and maintenance workers. No restaurant or concessions. This was a clean, economical condo right on the beach with a pool as well. Although the rooms were a little small, they were tastefull and cozy. We would come back to stay at Escapes in Galveston.

We went on a friends getaway for the weekend in May 2007. We loved the condo because it was on the water, but yet far away from other visitors. It feels like you have a beach to yourself. The stores are only 5 to 10 minutes away from the condo. We didn't like Galveston, but the condo was excellent.

It was a great location right on the beach away from the tourist areas. The room was very nice and a wonderful deal! The only issue we had was that the boardwalk from the hotel to the beach was vandalized and the gate broken so no one could use it the entire time we were there. There was no apparent attempt made to repair the gate so it was blocked for access. Other than that, our stay was quite enjoyable and comfortable.

Very nice. We go to Galveston every year and usually spend time jumping around the island. This time, we spent 95% of our vacation at the resort. Great access to pool and beach. Wonderful rooms. Stores very close so we stocked our fridge and we were set. Kids (2 and 4) loved it. Staff put on great activities for them. One employee actually gave us a pizza to eat. We will be back and we are considering purchasing one of the condos on the same site.

If your looking for a condo beachside, this is the place. The elite condo was spacious and nice. The view was great and it was just a short walk to the beach down the walkway. Hotel furniture and mattresses need to be replaced. All other furnishings were great.

This hotel/condo is fabulous -- right on the ocean! The amenities are superb. Everything you need is provided -- cooking utensils, cleaning products, laundry detergent, paper products, etc. Very Clean!! The views of the ocean are fabulous -- as far as we could tell every room had an ocean view!! We loved the fact that the condo is removed from the main Galveston ""drag"" -- so the beach is not crowded with tourists. Everything feels very private!

More laundry soap; better on-line description description of the units. Include specifics of what the kitchen is stocked with, a better description of the difference between an A B units and more specificity that there as a WA/Dryer which is a real plus. Also, your customers should know that the A and B all in the same area can be rented together. The front desk staff need to be better informed about the layout and prices, because I asked upon checkout for prices/unit layouts for a future stay. A brouchure would be good to have on hand.

"Great property, wonderful pool, fabulous view and easy walk to beach. Basic unit is VERY small, fine for two people, but NO more. Our family of four was fine in a two bedroom unit, with a significant price increase."

Our stay was wonderful. Our family had never been to Galveston on a "family vacation" before. We loved everything about it. The location was wonderful, staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were wonderful and clean. We couldn't have asked for more. We will definately be staying here again.
