Overview:
Just off of Victoria’s Inner Harbour nestled in five acres of country estate sits the English Inn Victoria, which is just within walking distance of downtown Victoria. The hotel allows its guests to feel they are in a peaceful area without being too far out of the city, as most of Victoria’s sights and businesses are within walking distance of the hotel.
Because the English Inn Victoria is so close to downtown Victoria, guests can walk or bike into town, or they can rely on public transportation to get around the area.
The rooms of this hotel surround guests with luxury in the form of canopy beds and fireplaces. The English Inn Victoria also offers nightly turndown service and other wonderful amenities.
The English Inn Victoria is a group of old-fashioned manor homes in the midst of some lovely gardens. The hotels have been renovated in such a way that allows them to offer contemporary amenities within a charming setting. The amenities of the hotel include Italian furnishings, fireplaces, and Aveda spa, space for conferences and private functions, a play area for children, and a complementary water taxi to the Inner Harbour. The hotel also has on on-site restaurant, the Rosemeade Dining Room, which offers West Coast fare.

The restaurant is only open for dinner, with reservations. The "gardens" are small and only landscaped with no flowers. and keep off the grass signs. The hotel closes up at 10 pm..after that , we had to go round the back with a key..there was no lighting and it was dangerous walking up steps with no lights. The ad showed a canopy, but, not in the room I purchased...the furniture was "antique" but, simply old. The loscation was not close, and took awhile to find..much further than "across the Bay". The owner has been written up in the local papers for not paying his workers. We stayed with friends in another room, and their bed was uncomfortable.

The English Inn & Resort has the english countryside charm with it's gardens and old style construction. The room was very large and had a four post bed. The dining table was elegant with it's claw feet. The best part is how quiet it is. Absolutely no noise being farther from the road and the neighbourhood is perfect for walks through the residential area and down to the ocean. The foyer and restaurant are very beautiful. Would definitely go back for a visit next time to Victoria.

Quiet, clean, beautiful grounds, excellent restaurant. Excellent ambience and facilities. Ideal for a relaxing and comfortable retreat experience.

We had a wonderful experience walking through the vast gardens. There were many places sit and have tea. Wonderful dinning and the lobby is comfortable to sit by the fire and have a glass of wine. It is a short walk to the trails by the ocean. I can't wait to go back!

I was thrilled with the secluded garden atmosphere found with the English Inn & resort. The inn was conveniently close to Victoria attractions but nicely tucked away from the bustle of the city. This is not a choice for a traveller accustomed to modern, fast-paced amenities. The character of the old-fashioned, themed manors was appealing enough that I chose to extend my stay.

Beautiful grounds and many gardens. Location of neighborhood wasn't great. Old English charm on 5 acres of beautiful gardens and trees. Beautiful restaurant and hotel lobby was like being invited to someone's grand manor. Flooded in the restaurant was great. We awakened every morning with the sounds of birds chirping, a cool breeze blowing and tree's swaying from our window. Very nice.

The English Inn in Victoria was a fabulous & restful get-away! It is a 10-minute bus ride from downtown Victoria, but feels as though you are miles from anywhere. The grounds are beautiful & the restaurant is amazing! It is a destination in itself.

The people were very friendly. The room ed. I would like to see pictures of the room I would get, before I said ok to it. There was a staircase up to our room, with no hand rail on one side, also when we came back to our room, the door was ajar for anyone to walk in.

The English Inn and Resort in Victoria was not bad for the money. The grounds are beautiful, and made for a great late afternoon stroll. We were quite pleased with the photographs we ended up with. We don't, however, recommend staying at the inn during the summer months. There is no air conditioning, and we were not provided with a fan. Also, don't expect to be able to enjoy a late night dinner at their award-winning restaurant during slow tourist times. We were looking forward to dining at the Rosemeade Dining room after long day of wandering around downtown Victoria, only to find that the restaurant had closed early, as well as the lounge. The staff, however, was quite pleasant and attentive when necessary. The room was small, yet clean and well decorated. If you are on a budget, or willing to shell out for one of the larger rooms at the inn, The English Inn would be a great place to stay - away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Victoria.

This was one of the best parts of our stay in Victoria, We spend two days at Old English Inn and two nights down town. Downtown was noisy, and the value for the dollar was definitely old English Inn

The room was interesting with details you find in an old home that has been converted to a hotel. We liked the size of the room. The hotel is a beautiful old building but I could not stop thinking if only it was updated. I did not think the housekeeping was good. The Inn is outside of Victoria center so it is a drive into town. We looked at the menu for the resturant but decided it was a little pricey for the hotel.

We were very excited about staying in this hotel based on the write-up. We ended up staying in a converted attic that was terribly claustrophobic and a very uncomfortable bed. Live and learn.

The English Inn & Resort was located in the town of Esquimalt just outside of downtown Victoria about a 10 minute drive by car. The property was very nice and the staff were extremely helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and had the opportunity to check out other rooms in the Mansion some are outstanding! We had a problem with the plumbing but once the office was notified the problem was handled right away. There is a park with bay access just at the end of the street and the Mansion is located in a quaint community. I would stay here again.
