Check in was at 3pm and we arrived an hour early so we decided to try and check in early. We were told the room was not ready so we waited. Then 3pm came around and the room was still not ready, then 3:30pm came and I demanded our room. If check out is at 12pm then they have plenty of time to prepare and clean the rooms. And given that they were remodeling the othe half of the hotel they didnt have to clean all the rooms. I was very unsatisfied the way the staff handeled the situation and did nothing for the inconvience.

Other than the noise, good location and nice facilities. Lots of nighclubs around way too noise.

The hotel was situated near Bora Bora, which is a night club that is very loud at night and prevents a good sleep. Nice beach, however, and the staff are nice. Room was relatively clean and the price was right.

after staying at the emporio hotel (formerly the riviera) in mazatlan for the last 20 years, it keeps getting better. from the moment my daughter and i arrive for our annual "get away" to our day of departure, we are welcomed with open arms. although the staff has been reduced somewhat, they continue to excell in specialized service, exceptionally clean, spacious and well appointed rooms, excellant food and beverages and comfortable all around good fun and atmosphere. management is always on the spot for service and advise. we look forward to many more great times in the years to come.

It has a great location in the middle of the tourist area. The hotel has a wonderful view of the ocean and you could hear ocean at night. My overall experience was great. The staff is very friendly. I enjoyed everyday of my stay. I will consider this hotel in future trips.

Check in was easy room was located in the center of lots of things stores, restaurants, senor frog restaurant probably 10 min away.We had enough closet space and a safe. two twin/full size beds not sure exactly what size they were?? would have prefered a queen or king size bed. Beds were comfy, now AC took a while to work and cool down the room it was really stuffy when we arrived.Overall room was decent size for two. Now bathroom I think could have used a little more maintance the water splashed out of the shower big mess on the floor after showering. Other than that the room was great. Pools we didn't use because it was a little chilly. Oh yeah and the little restaurant on the hotel premises was delicious and affordable.

The hotel Emporio was a nice hotel. It has a great location in the middle of the tourist area. The hotel has a wonderful view of the ocean. We had a room that we could hear the ocean from our room at night. One item that was a negative was the bed. The rooms come with two full size beds which are kind of small for two people in the bed. Also, the beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Overall, the experience was great. The hotel is in a great location. If you go you need to go to Mr. Tony's restaurant and bar at night. (If you stay at the hotel you can not miss the place). The place has bands every night. I enjoyed going there every night.

The Emporio Mazatlan creates mixed reviews. Location, and View, are spectacular. Service is good, they really do try. We had a little plumbing problem, with the shower, but they quickly moved us to a nicer room. Make sure to get menus, wherever you go, including the hotel. If you don't they will quote you whatever price they want. They do not utilize their beautiful bar either. Walk a few feet down the beach to Joe's Oyster Bar for drinks, half the price of the hotel. Or hit up a store , get you a Styrofoam ice chest and an 8 Pack! Ice is free at the hotel restaurant. Otherwise well taken care of for a forty year old hotel, and don't forget to ask for a beach view, it'll make you not want to leave your baloney. Great beach right outside the door, great pools, and a good * breakfast buffet every morning. & Macdonald's is right across the street if you want it cheap and fast. The beach vender's can give you good deals on souvenirs. Overall a wonderful experience.

The Emporio is a fairly good hotel. The bed was ok but rather too soft. The bathroom, while very clean is in need of a major fix-up. The shower was very small and the curtain was useless as water sprayed out into the entire bathroom. The so called ocean view was terrible, we had to move to the end of the terrace to get a glimpse. The hotel is too close to the street and a nearby bar/resturant which was pretty noisey at night. We had people partying in the adjacent room till 3am. When I complained and asked to be moved to another room I was told to just call the front desk if I was awakened by the noise in the middle of the night and they would send up someone from security. We were unable to get a good night's rest for 3 nights. Sorry, I cannot recommend the Emporio Mazatlan.

The people at the front desk were RUDE. The Didnt even try to show their dislike of Americans. I stood at the front desk for check in for an hour while they took people behind me, and they wouldnt even look at me. I received the same treatment when I went to exchange money. When I finally did get someone to wait on me (after he rolled his eyes) he said they didnt have any money....as he stood next to the sign that says they exchanged money. When we arrived my husband (who speaks spanish) asked specifically if local calls from our room were free and they said yes. When we confronted the man who told us that he simply stated that he had never seen us before in his life. We stayed there a week. Everyone else working there was very nice, from the bell hops to the man who runs the tours. But I have never been treated so poorly by the front desk staff.

Staying at the Emporio Mazatlan was about equal to a cruise ship. The staff could not have been move helpful - especially the waiters in the resturants. Everyone was most friendly and respectful. Our room, as all others in this hotel, looked out over the 2 pools and the ocean and was very comfortable. Every room had a balcony that was quite comfortable. The beach was only a few steps from the hotel. Of course, there were the beach Merchants, but if you were firm in saying no they left you alone. This has to be expected in a vacation in this area, so you deal with it. Everything was in walking distance from the hotel - shops, resturants, entertainment. The food was good and such fun eating beside the ocean in the outdoor areas. This hotel is one of the smaller ones - only 3 strories. To us, that made it much more convenient to get to the pools and ocean. We would recommend this beautiful hotel to all.

First, I would like to congratulate the Emporio Staff for a great job! I spent 5 days at the Emporio. Nice rooms, great staff, excellent restaurant, pool , the sound of the crashing waves late at night heard from our room. Strategically located in the Zona Dorada. A hop, skip, and a jump from any point of interest in Mazatlan. Nightlife well just go next door on either side of the hotel. Take you laptop, wireless internet from your room or poolside. Stone Island Tour (Isla de la Piedra) to and from, Yacht ride, all you can drink plus the meal for 20 bucks! This was not my first time staying at the Emporio. The great service that is provided make it very dificult to stay somewhere else while in Mazatlan. I cross into Tijuana hop on a bus, which costs me around 60 dollars take a 18-22 hour bus ride to Mazatlan, get off at the Pemex gas station entering Mazatlan, hop on to a Pulmonilla (VW the thing) and head to the Emporio Hotel a 5 dollar trip, stay a week in paradise, pay another 5 dollars and head to the bus terminal like 10 minutes away pay another 60 dollars and head back to TIjuana arriving the next day in San Diego. Money wise you cant beat that! I do it 2 or 3 times a year and every single time I end up at the Emporio Hotel! I am a customer for life I recommend the travel website members to use the flexible dates for even more great deals planning your trip accordingly will save you alot and staying at the Emporio will be an unforgetable expierence. In closing , dont forget to enjoy a strawberry margarita poolside every evening during your stay at the Emporio.

The Hotel Emporio was a great value for the money. It s near to where much of the action (clubs, restaurants, etc) in Mazatlan. The beach access was very close and it has one of the best spots for surfing in all of Mazatlan. The staff was friendly and helpful. The selection of food that the hotel had to offer was good but some items on the menu where not available. I tried ordering a ice cream one evening and what they brought me was not what I had ordered. This is a minor concern though, as there where a number of great restaurants within walking distance. The rooms where clean and had excellent air conditioning. There was WIFI internet access available at no charge which for me was a big bonus. For the price it is a good value. Next time though I might spend a little bit more to upgrade to something nicer.

Friend and I left on an impromptu vacation (booked Tuesday afternoon, Flew down on Thursday morning) for a 4 day stay. The hotel was nice and well kept, the staff was courteous and helpful, the scenery was beautiful. we walked almost everywhere from the hotel. those places we didnt walk, we took an open air taxi. Mazatlan was enjoyable and even though it was only 4 days / 3 nights, it was probably one of the most enjoyable vacations I've had. Make sure to do breakfast at the beachside open air restaurant just blocks away. We sat there for nearly three hours enjoying the scenery, the company, the food, and the breeze coming off the ocean. Granted it wasnt a 4/5 star hotel, but it was definately worth it. I'd return.

First time staying in this hotel. Very nice hotel, I loved the simple Mexican decoin the room, made you feel you were in Mexico. The room was very clean and staff very helpful and friendly. They do however still need to work on their renovations. The bathroom mirror, shower, one sofa cushion and some towels had stains on them and some towels looked slightly worn. The room flooring also looked like it needed some work, nothing terribily major just areas that need improvement. I would stay here again. Hotel pretty close to shopping.

The pool is very small not clen at all, the pool was so crowded that is was almost impossible to get in the pool, there were a group of highschool students at the hotel wich was a real nightmare!!!!! very noisy we could hear everything going on both rooms next to ours. No privacy at all I mean ZERO privacy nice balcony it was a shame that the hotel was full of unattended teenagers acting drunk, stupid and disrepectuf, they were knocking on our door all night long and the hotel security did not anything to control the punks out of control. There were easily 60 of them all together.Good locatio walking distance to restaurants and the Malecon, the room was very small but clean. staff was friendly.

"i usually go to cabo where i purchased a home; however, this time i wanted to go somewhere different. mazatlan was absolutely beautiful. i only used the hotel to sleep and shower. the pool is very shallow, but most of the time i was lounging getting some sol. there is direct beach access which is perfect. at times i did wonder who i had to smack to get a drink whilst by the pool, but for the most part, the hotel is pretty nice. you can walk to anything. the clubs are all awesome and anywhere you eat- they have great and plentiful food. i will stay at the emporio again.
