I thought the room was quite small but adequate. My friend's room were larger and nicer than mine and yet we all paid the same price. The noise from the street woke me up very early every morning. From my perspective the location was great. Right on the beach and close to shopping and night life.

Nothing - I stayed somewhere else! Everything! They were rude, our room was hot and dirty, the beds were very hard, the whole place was just very musky and not attractive. The worst hotel I've ever stepped foot in. I am very unsatisfied and would never recommend it again because of my experience.

I stayed in a suite with a kitchenette and a queen sized bed. The bed was not really comfortable, but I was prepared for it. The location is great, and I really enjoyed being right by the water and close to all the action on the Malecon.

We went to beautiful Puerto Vallarta as we have done for many years and decided to stay at the Emperador Hotel & Suites. We usually like to try out different hotels to experience new locales and services. Upon our arrival, the hotel staff was extremely rude and unfriendly. The room we were given in tower #1 was awful. Most of the light switches in the room did not work. The room was dark and gloomy (only one light fixture worked.) The view was confined to a small "terrace." The security in tower #1 was virtually nonexistent. The bed sheets had cigarrete burn marks on them. On several occasions we saw mice in the room. If you'd ask the front desk staff for help, they wouldn't help you out. We won't recomment this hotel to anyone. Spend your hard earned money somewhere where you'd get your money's worth and would be welcomed as a guest, not a nuisance - that's how the hotel staff made us feel like. There are cheaper and more welcoming hotels in Puerto Vallarta than the Emperador. What a horrible experience at this hotel. Never again!!!

I'll be honest that my friend and I were a little skeptical of this hotel given some of the reviews, but we were quite pleased. It is by no means a luxurious resort, do not stay here if that is what you are looking for. This hotel is very conveniently located near all the nightlife and the beautiful los muertos beach. It's right next to the restaurant La Palapa, which is one of the best restaurants to watch the sunset and enjoy an amazing meal. LGB travelers would really enjoy the convenience of the location! It is literally in the middle of everything. We didn't use the pool or jacuzzi so can't comment about that. The junior suites have their own kitchen, which makes it quite convenient. We had a partial view of the beach and a balcony, which made for wonderful afternoons watching the sunset over the water. I would recommend this place for people who will be spending most of their days on the beach and doing adventure activities around PV, and enjoying the nightlife in the town. It is a great value for the money, I will definitely go back!

It was right in walking distance to everything. You had to go to a different hotel to use the pool. Ok.

Would not recommend this hotel, first of all no one spoke decent English. I checked in with my boyfriend and they gave us a room with two extra small twin size beds. They did move us to another room with yet another twin size bed and an extra small queen size bed. Being that we are plus size people the accommodations were a little less than desirable. The linens were old and very hard, and there were no wash cloths. Thank god I only booked for one night! The room was not worth what I paid for it!

Although this is not a luxury hotel, the location and value for the price is exceptional.

It was on the beach. Small, smelly room in the back of the hotel. I would not stay again. It seems like most of the hotel is probably of two star quality, the room I got was in a section in the back - old, small over powering smell of sanitizer. Air conditioner not reachable which was up near ceiling. Window with no screen opened out to walkway making security no option. Was not worth.

My husband and I spent a week at the Emperador in August. If you are looking for a 5 star luxury hotel with mints on your pillow, this is not it. But if you are interested in an economic, fairly comfortable room, with a balcony right on the ocean, this is it. There is a fridge, so buy beer and water and you can hang out and watch the sunsets before you go out to dinner and check out the nightlife. Great little restaurants within walking distance, many right on the beach. Make sure you ask for a room in Building 2, you can walk through the lobby and down the steps right out onto the beach. Sheets and towels are not plush, but you ARE on the beach in Mexico, so just deal with it! It is away from the tourist zone, but it was an easy walk to shopping and the flea market. Lots of native Mexican families vacation in the Romantic Zone, not a lot of Americans. But if you stay in the Tourist Zone (near the airport), you will be shopping at a mall that could be anywhere in the US and eating at Chile's. Not for us. The staff at the hotel was helpful and friendly, with a bellman even running several blocks to find us a taxi to the airport at 6am. Would definitely go again!

i have used this hotel several times and while it is not the ritz serves my purpose to be in the most desirable area of the city both nite and day. two or more of the best restaurants are steps away and the beach is the mexican beach with families and really busy and fun to be on. my new fav place to sun and be treated like a first class guest is next to eldorado restaurant and called the beach house, the staff and food as good as any and the help goes out of their way to make your day a great experience. the hotel is simple and has no food, pool or bar but who cares, the neighborhood has it all and never fear being alone or at night. try telling the front desk with claudia what you want and they will provide.tell the beach house that i will see them in july and reserve a chair for me!!!

the staff was really mean, they were fighting all the time, the beds at the rooms are old and hard, there is no way for some one to sleep on those beds. the air acconditioning wasnt working properly. The hotel is located with a beautiful view. was very unconfurtable been treat like that. The price of the room was not worth. the silverweare at the rooms were old and dirty. the stufa as well.

The location was central to the town and near the beach. Noisy, not enough bedding, unfriendly staff, too expensive. I have not been able to get to the bottom of why my reservation was not honored, maybe it wasn't the hotels fault, but it just seemed cheap, the shower backed up, there was tape holding the batteries in on the TV remote, plus it didn't work. The pool on the roof was, small and without water, the free internet had all the letters on the key pad wiped off, and it was very, very noisy being so close to the street.

this hotel was so bad it sounds like we made it up but i assure you i didnt. when we checked in only one light worked in our room, we were tired so left it till morning, but they started working again. our aircon did not work and we asked everyday for it to be fixed....we had to wait 7 days in terrible humidity and heat before they would take it to be fixed leaving us with a giant hole in the wall. they wouldnt change our rooms and it took 2 days before they put an aircon back in. we had only 2 days with aircon right at the end of the trip. the smell coming from the bathroom was horrible. it smelt like a sewer. we had ants crawling through our bed aswell. the night before we left we started packing only to realise that some of my wifes clothing was missing. we told front desk that the maids had accidently taken them when cleaning the room but they did nothing about it. didnt even try to help. the day we checked out we went to use the elevator to go downstairs and it closed suddenly on my wifes arms. the doors skinned her arms and left her bleeding and bruised. once again spoke to front desk and they couldnt have cared less. another guest told us it was broken when they checked in and there was no sign put up about this. (we noticed whenever we had to make a complaint they acted like they could not understand us when we had heard them speaking perfect english to other guests). i highly reccommend paying a little bit extra for safety and comfort.

I returned to the Emperador to enjoy the great location. A nice Mexican place and a great bargain. Don't miss La Palapa restaurant around the corner or the wonderful lady one block down selling fresh squeezed orange juice in the morning. The location in the Romantica Zone is the quaint cobbelstoned.

How do you describe your worst hotel experience without sounding like you are overemphasizing when it really was what it was. Let's begin with the facts. Of the 3 rooms that my wife and I looked at (we started looking after ants started to crawl on us while were in bed chilling out watching TV and enjoying the air conditioner) each had a combination of hair, ants, blood and sperm - and sometimes of three out of the four. When we asked to see another room because we had ants crawling on us in the current room the guy at the counter said that we couldn't. We told him that we knew that the hotel was empty because it's the low season and he had other rooms open - he again said that we couldn't because we already used the room. So asked him if it would be okay if I put my hair and some ants in his bed if he thought that ours was okay. We eventually got to see another room - where we found sperm and dried blood in the sheets. Later a friend of ours from PV told us that the rooms are sometimes rented out by the hour... It's not some sort of get over it you ultra-hygenic-gringo, it's more of a "Wow that's a dirty place, you really stayed there? Yeah I'd never do that.

This hotel is right in the thick of things. Very busy neighborhood and restaurants are a stone's throw away. The hotel hot tub, restaurant, patio etc were all closed abd in need of repair. The mattress in our room was very poor, very hard. The cooking facilities in our kitchenette would suffice for simple meals. A new stove would be in order to prevent explosions. You need to light it with a match. Our other kitchenette items were fine. The refrigerator and sink/dishes were fine. The hotel is right on the beach and is flanked on either side by great places that each have pools and excellent dining so we went there. The Emperador has a very pleasant staff and service to the web on two computers in the lobby. This is ok but I waited once for a few minutes. Overall, a very decent value for the money but if they fixed everything, it'd be a lot more money.

Location. Dirty. Good location on beach, but somewhat noisy. Room was small and not clean. Air conditioner could be turned on or off but not adjusted without a stepladder.
