This is one of the worst hotels we have stayed at. The room location was terrible. We were at sidewalk level and the drapes would not shut completely. I had to use my wife's hair clips to hold the drapes together. It was anoisy location. The bed was terrible. The breakfasts were terrible. One morning I could not cut the pancakes with a knife. The sausages were cold two days in a row. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Rooms were nice. There was a leak in the bathroom ceiling. The staff was very friendly. There was a leak in the bathroom ceiling which got some of our cosmetics wet.

When we pulled up, I thought, WOW, this is great! And when in the lobby it was of a grand scale. But when you get into your room, its a different story. Very outdated decor, couch had holes, carpet was extremely dirty, no fan in the bathroom and no room to turn around in the bathroom. I was dissappointed in the cost versus the quality. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

I was somewhat worried after reading the wide range of reviews. I have only great things to say about the hotel from the staff, the location to the breakfast and happy hour-everything was great. I have to think that those who said the rooms were small did not realize they were getting.....dorm rooms. Our room was great-two doubles in one room with a sofa, table w/4 chairs in another room, a bar area and our bathroom was 8x10 feet. How much room do you need? Easy walking distance (6-7 blocks) to market street with numerous shops and resturants. You will enjoy the hotel. We were there for 4 days in first part of April 09.

Hospitality was great and the location was perfect. The hotel was beautiful and centrally located in downtown Charleston. The staff made sure that we were comfortable and all our needs and expectations were met.

I love Embassy Suites but this one wasn't what I expected. The beds are full size, but a comfortable small bed. The breakfast line was HUGE for breakfast, the reception (beverage, snack) line was HUGE. The walk to Market Street is about 8 blocks, not 4 like they tell you. The room had a hard time keeping a good temperature. It was either too hot or too cold. For the price you can get a room closer to the Market. We didn't even bother going down for drinks and the breakfast was too much of a hassle as well. It is a nice old historic building, but not the usual Embassy Suites stay.

our first visit to Charleston...really enjoyed the suite... a TV for the each of us....more than enough room for the two of us...very, very friendly and helpful staff...cooked to order breakfasts were great and a nice cocktail hour to get the evening off to a good start...within 10-20 minute walk to everything....an easy get to off the highway....enjoyed our stay very much

The hotel provided luxury, style and comfort all in one. The only option for parking had to be paid for daily.

The Embassy Suites in historic downtown Charleston was converted from the former Citadel military academy. The hotel common areas are beautiful and the rooms are well appointed. There was even an LCD hi-def TV in the room. The staff was superb...courteous and helpful. And of course, the complimentary cocktails from 5:30-7:30 pm were a nice touch. I would definitely stay there again.

Staff was great from check in to helping us with suggestions for side trips as well as making reservations. Overall top notch. This is what I expect from an Embassy Suites hotel and haven't been let down yet.

I enjoyed the breakfast, location and staff at this hotel. If you are traveling with children this is a great hotel. Having a 2 room suite is very nice. Also, having a good breakfast prepared right in the hotel when you get up is very convenient. The staff was very helpful. Also, the hotel is located near all of the tourist attractions. There is a lot within walking distance.

Don't understand the smoke comments. Our room was great. Great backdrops for pictures. Great staff. Helpful.

The staff was very helpful and friendly, always ready to assist you. The hotel was quiet, very nice and in a great location for shopping on King Street and dining on Meeting St. The room was decorated very nicely and the furniture was newer and very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel.

Managers reception. Cook to order breakfast was always crowded. Good overall experience. Decent location to downtown Charleston. Room was comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Would stay at again.

This hotel is pretty, but that's about all it has going for it. Do yourself and favor and tour it, but stay elsewhere. The rooms are not that comfortable. The non-smoking rooms reek of cigarrette smoke. Smoke seeps into the rooms through the bathrooms. Really, this hotel should be considered an all-smoking hotel. Also there is not enough seating for meals. Lots of people ended up standing or taking breakfast and reception foods to their rooms b/c there was no seating.
