I enjoyed the room. I was stuck having to get a smoking room because of a family member and got stuck in a room with a bad view. So I would strongly recommend non-smoking rooms. The hotel said it only had like 5 rooms that were smoking and they are all on the 3rd floor. However, the rooms and the service was wonderful. The pool was nice, but stayed really crowded with rowdy teens that were mostly non-hotel members. The hotel could really stand to improve on that. I didn't feel comfortable with my son playing in the pool at times. Other then that I highly recommend it and will stay there again in the future. Also, I was impressed with breakfast. I wasn't expecting much so I was pleasently suprised.

Good central location for visiting downtown and local shopping centers. Several good dining choices close by. We had a perfect view of the 4th of July fireworks show on the mountain from our balcony.

Embassy Suites Birmingham is a great place for the business traveler. The suite was splendidly decorated, well appointed, and the bed gave me the feeling I was sleeping on a cloud after a busy day of business. I loved the suites ability to close off the bedroom from the main room so as to conduct business. The wet bar area in the main living area was a nice touch in that it provided one the ability to enjoy snacks and beverages during a room meeting or while working alone. The hotel was quiet, very well maintained. The breakfast to order was to die for. The staff makes great omlettes! The accomadations were very roomy. The staff was professional and courteous. This was my first business trip to the area and I already know that I will choose this property again for subsequent trips to Birmingham.

I love the fact that Ruth's Chris is there although I didn't get to eat there while I was in Birmingham. 1. Burned out light bulb over vanity, 2. toilet ran all night, 3. insufficient supplies for making coffee. Upon check-in, I was given the key to a room that was already occupied and had to go back downstairs for another room assignment. It was late and the room service stops at 11:00 P.M. I would have had a better stay if the hotel had 24 hour room service. Also, they sell food for microwaves but my suite didn't have one.

Maybe I'm a snob, but when someone asks me to pay nearly 200 a night for a hotel room, I expect a little luxury. There was nothing luxurious about this hotel, except for maybe my 100 meal at Ruth Chris (which was worth every penny, btw). I also expect free high speed internet, but I had to pay 10 a day for very slow internet. And they want business travel? Forget it!The hotel is remodeling (2nd and 3rd floors currently). I was on the 8th floor and every morning, at 4 am, I heard what sounded like a vacuum cleaner, but was something they were doing with the remodel. LOUD. Apparently, they don't realize it is just a big wind tunnel. The young ladies on the housekeeping staff were friendly and watchful, but the men tended to be loud (with other staff), although every one of them was friendly to a fault. Rooms were clean, but the bed was awful--it tilted toward the headboard and was very difficult to get comfortable in. Add the noise factor and it wasn't a good night's rest. Upsides-manager's reception every evening in the atrium, where we also had a great breakfast every morning. I liked being able to go down, fill a plate, and take it back to my room, where it was quiet. The hotel is close to several shopping centers (the Galleria, the Summit), lots of restaurants. Right down the street is English Village, which is a great place to wander, have a cup of coffee, and maybe lunch at one of the cafes.

The indoor pool, breakfast buffet and 2 room suites. Beautiful hotel, loved the trees and water. The 2 room suite was perfect for my stay with 4 teenagers. They loved swimming in the indoor pool. Was just a short ride to Boutwell Auditorium for a concert, so perfect location for us.

Room was dirty. Bathroom had mildew in grout, hair and nasty dirt on the walls. Elevators and halls were dirty and the dirt had nothing to do with the construction that was also going on. Hotel was under construction which I was not informed of when I registered through Travel website. Remodeling will make it much better for a while but poor housekeeping will eventually be evident.

The Embassy Suites in Birmingham was very comfortable. It is close to the Birmingham airport. I rented a car, but they have their own shuttle service to/from the airport. Southern hospitality was bubbling over when we checked in. The suite has living space that can be closed off from the sleeping area. Two tvs in the suite, 2 sinks outside the bathroom, table w/ 4 chairs, frigde, microwave made the suite inviting. You can have a full breakfast each morning, and enjoy the manager's reception each day at 5:30, free cocktails. Both of theses goodies are included in your room rate. Breakfast was delicious! The location was great. You could hop on the highway and go where ever you desired. We plan to use Embassy Suites on our next trip to Greensboro, NC.

Great staff. No wireless internet. The lack of wireless internet is a complete turn off for me. You can access the web through the TV but this does not allow you to use your own computer, shortcuts, or web applications.

First room had hair, plastic clothing tags and stained grout in the bathroom. Sofabed had potato chips, crumbs, computer parts inside. Management graciously changed our room. Second room also had moldy/stained grout and dirty bathroom floor, AND 30-40 SMALL HAIRS in the sheets!!! Refrigerator didn't work. Water made a loud noise. No luggage carts available at check-in or check-out. Room Service and Breakfast Buffet were excellent. Staff was exceptional, doing their best with a worn facility. Management needs to make a ""clean sweep"" in the housekeeping department.

Embassy is a great brand, and this one does not disapoint. The rooms are always nice, clean, people are nice and I LOVE the lady that makes the omlets in the morning. She is a treat. The hotel is in a great location. My only complaint is no gym.
