FAQs

The following questions have been answered for you by Elm Wood Classic Bed and Breakfast Westbury (Australia)...

What are your breakfast options?
We serve gourmet continental breakfast that includes fruit juice, homemade muesli, organic fruit compote and yogurt, a selection of teas and coffees, a selection of breads and Tasmanian jams, and poached eggs.
Where can we dine?
Lunches are available in Westbury at Hobnobs Café, Fitzpatrick’s Inn and Andy’s 24 hour bakery/café. Dinners are available in Westbury at Fitzpatrick’s Inn and the Westbury Hotel. Pizza and fast food take-away is also available locally. Deloraine, 15 minutes to the west, has a range of eateries. Launceston, 25 minutes to the east boasts some of Australia’s best restaurants.
Have you renovated recently?
The Elm Wood buildings were built in 2005 and fitted out with new beds, furniture and fittings.
What traveller type is most suited?
Our prime demographic is a professional couple between 40 and 80 who are in Tasmania on holidays. That said, we cater to business travelers and young couples (we have a porta cot for infants). Elm Wood is not suitable for children or young teenagers.
What transport is available to get around?
A vehicle is required: own car brought on the ferry, a hire car and bicycle (this area caters specifically to tourism cycling, supported by touring route maps, audio downloads and sympathetic locals).
What can I do nearby?
Westbury, a historic town, has two world-renowned museums of early agricultural machinery, especially steam and early diesel machinery. There is also a very fine tall privet-hedged maze.

The town boasts the last ‘authentic’ Village Green in Australia adjacent to the Town Common. This very ‘English’ village is replete with cottages of the colony, convict jail and a history room that underpins a biennial Genealogy Fair. Each March, a Folk Festival celebrates the town’s Irish heritage with St Pat’s Festival with Irish music, dance and parade.
As a family, what are the best things to do?
-Visit the Westbury Maze and tea rooms, Pearns Steam World and the Vintage Tractor Museum (largest collection of pre-diesel and early diesel farm equipment in the southern hemisphere) all in Westbury.
-Take forest walks (e.g. Liffey Falls and Alum Cliffs) within 30 minutes.
-Sample food producers (41 degrees south salmon farm, Ashgrove cheese factory, Chudleigh honey farm) within 30 minutes.
-Explore heritage buildings (Entally House, Brickenden Estate, Woolmers Estate, Clarendon House) within 30 minutes.
-Enjoy marvellous gardens (Culzean, Wychwood, Brickenden, Woolmers, Elm Wood) within 30 minutes.
-Walk amongst Tasmanian devils, wombats and wallabies (Trowunna Wildlife Park, Narawntapu National Park) within 30 minutes.
Do you have internet?
We provide our guests with Wi-Fi password access to our internet connection at no cost.
Do you provide parking?
Secure on-site parking is provided at no charge.
What makes your hotel the best?
