We stayed here on our way to the beach. It is very easy to get to the hotel coming from the North and returning to the North. The food is great, the grounds lovely and very secure. The hotel is older but the rooms are huge and we have stayed there numerous times.

Iliked the view, you can see the entire city. Idid not like the fact that it does not have elevator service.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is very secure with a gated entrance with a security guard. The room was huge, it had two beds and a separate large bathroom area. Everyone was pleasant we ate in the restaurant and the service was good. Sunday brunch was excellent and there was a mariachi band playing. They had a wonderful selection of typical Mexican food. The hotel is really in Tlaquepague and sits on a hill, the view of the city of Guadalajara at night was lovely. The price was very low for the quality of the hotel. I would stay there again.

Ambiance, spaciousness, cleanliness, love seat, prompt room service and friendly staff. We were pleasantly surprised. Bed was comfortable, room was spacious and clean and the grounds were huge. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Interesting motel on a hill with a great view of the city, nice large rooms somewhat rustic, large balcony, lots of highway noise from surrounding highways, not close to downtown, nice pool in quite courtyard, friendly staff, no regrets but stayed only one night! Would try downtown next visit to Guadalajarta.

Good location; clean; inexpensive; breakfast A+++. Front Desk Service is lacking, not very friendly; wake-up call was an hour late. We had stayed at the hotel years ago (about 8 years ago); it seems to have been updated quite a bit. Although the old world ambience of Mexico still remained; which I really liked. The pool is larger and cleaner, the restaurant was delicious for breakfast. Lunch could be better (too many American entrees). The only issue I had with the front desk staff was that, they weren't the very helpful and I didn't receive my wake-up call on time (it was an hour late)! This was disturbing considering I work in the hospitality business industry.

Friendly staff, interesting guest staying there, lovely rooms. Charged twice on my credit card for room - Hotel is investigating the error. El Tapatio offers a terrific hilltop panoramic view of Guadalajara. The hotel staff is very friendly. If you are bilingual in Spanish, you will get a good opportunity to exercise your vocabulary there if that's what you want.

Tapatio Hotel was very unique and had a very Mexican feel to it. The roads were made of stones. The rooms very spacey and clean. It was a very good deal for what we paid for.

"The room was large and comfortable, our view of the city was fabulous. The entire complex is gorgeous and everyone was very nice and helpful. A time or two we couldn't get the water hot enough in the tub, and we were disappointed the weather was a bit chilly as we really wanted to swim in the beautiful pool!"

I thought this property was a tremendous value for the money I paid. rustic very long uphill drive over cobblestones to top of high hill with 360 views around property. nightime view of city lights very nice but GDL in daytime is not pretty. people were swimming in hotel pool and said it was warm water but I did not try. dinner setting was old-fashioned setting with great city lights view. ok wine menu starting at $20 USD a bottle for Valle de Guadalupe wine. disco had no dancing, was only for drinks. food and beverage costs were very reasonable once converted to dollars. bedroom huge. Bed huge and comfortable. only drawback was old carpet in need of replacement or better cleaning. they were refurbishing rooms in next building so this is likely to improve. I wanted a stay away from city where relatives could visit me or pick me up from. airport was close by which made a short 3 day visit much easier. This is like a small fortress away from the city. Do not plan on walking into the city, only around hotel grounds. Will stay here again.

Needs shuttle to downtown. Needs expanded coffee shop.Decor is very nice. Somewhat noisy at night from trucks on adjacent highway.
