We stayed at this hotel suite Feb. 2009. The hotel was located across the street from the beach, very clean, excellent service and the price was reasonable. We received 1 free breakfast daily. Daily maid service provided (included cleaning the unit, making the bed, washed dishes, sprayed ants, provided clean towels daily, etc.--excellent service). We plan to stay at El Greco 1-month next year. Hotel suite is located in the hip-strip area of Montego Bay. The Pork Pit has daily grilled chicken and pork dinners, "a good bang for your buck". There are dining places along the beautiful white beach area. Minimum onsite activities: a tennis court & a swimming pool; plus a computer for a small fee. Overall, El Greco is a nice place to stay at a bargain price, esp. during the winter months for us.

My 8 days stay was hell. The first room my family & I stayed in was ant infested. We were then moved to another room on the 2nd day that was cleaned once during the 7 days we spent in that room. All that was done each day was making the beds. The used towels were removed daily, but not always returned unless requested. We had lost one of the room keys for the ant infested room & was aware there was a fee to replace it. As stated on the notice in the room, the replacement cost was J$930.00. When I went to pay the fee when checking out they REFUSED to accept the posted price for the lost key. I was told I HAD to pay to replace the lock which cost US$25.00 or J$1,825.00 and would not be refunded my deposit unless I did so. Since they would not budge on allowing me to pay the posted price or allowing me to speak to a manager, I caved since I had a plane to catch. I however requested the key I had returned and the lock on the door since it now belongs to me as I have to replace it (because they do not get keys cut) and what do you know........SUDDENLY THE KEY I RETURNED, THEY CAN NO LONGER FIND & ACCORDING TO THEM THE LOCK HAS ALREADY BEEN CHANGED SO THEY HAVE NONE TO GIVE ME. Yeah right, I must have been born last night. Beware of using their internet. I was also billed for internet use & we never used it. That they finally removed from the bill. I just feel so ripped off by them.

I usually don't post comments, but stay clear of the El Greco. The hotel has an electrical problem in the back hotel rooms. The power went out for several hours. We asked to be moved to another room by the frontside of the hotel. The staff moved us right into a field of ants. I came back in the room to find ants crawling all over my bed. The staff immediately gave me another room. The other room had ants too, but this time they were crawling all over the kitchen sink and countertop. During this stay, I switched hotel rooms 3 times. If you stay here, watch out for the ants and the electrical problems!!!

The cost was under $* for the week, its called a resort but its not all inclusive. The website states that it includes a full kitchen. The kitchen does not include pots and pans. You must sign those out from the front desk. When you walk in the kitchen there are paper signs taped up stating the rules pots and pan check out information. Then another sign for visiting hours. Another sign for the cost of everything in the kitchen and the cost if they are lost. You are only allowed to have visits from 9am to 7pm, if anyone visits after 7pm, you have to pay $*. There are ants everywhere. A positive aspect is that the website states that there is a cost for room cleaning but its included. Housekeeping mops the floor, makes the bed and changes towels everyday. The pool, is dirty. It looks okay, but as you swim, leaves and dirt are on the bottom. Yuck!! Its close to the strip and the staff is nice except for the lady at the front desk. I got a nasty bug bite and needed alcohol. The bell man told me they had some at the front desk, and to ask the manager. She told me no, I need to search medical assistance. I would not stay there, even if it was free.

The hotel overall was alright. There were a few bumps in my stay. I had famliy at a different hotel, that wanted to come and hang out with me after 9pm and was told that they werent allowed. My son left his room key in the room, and the security gave him a hard time getting in even with the band that was given to him. Again the hotel overall ok,but the policy NOT great.

I had started my review and after going through the others I know xactly how those poor folks felt. What they all say is true. THAT HOTEL IS A DISGRACE. I dont know how the JAMAICA TOURIST BOARD allow them to operate until now or should say say still stay open. I stayed tthere about four (4) times and made the biggest mistake. Each time I thought things would have been different or better but it was only worse. The fixtures in the bathroom all fall off when you try to take a shower, there is a large basin for you to catch water in and pour over your body because there is no water pressure to reach up to the showe head. Their so called air condition works for five(5) minutes then start to blow hot air . It doesnt matter how many complaints, they go to deaf ears. While I was there in Auguest 08, I had to change room 4 times and none was better than the other. I wouldn't recommend any to go and stay there on their vacation. ITS A DISGRACE FOR A HOTEL.

Jamaican, stayed there 4 times, complete mistake. Showers dont work, air condition dont work, lots ants crawling all over your groceries, maintenance poor, furniture all broken down and falling apart, complaints go unanswered and many other stuff. Not recommended by me to any visitors. TOTAL RIPOOF.
