Overall this is not a 4 star resort. Rooms are old, and you can't even see the ocean from your balcony if you are seated, because the balcony wall is too high. The only way to get service at the beach or pool is to hold up money! Very disappointed in the facility, the pictures on the website are NOT what you get! And they continue to try to sell you their own timeshare. This is about a 2.5 star, based on my 15 years experience traveling in Mexico.

The time share guy for the hotel tagged us before we went to the room. His sale techiques lacked integrity for what they were offering.

It was nice but too large for me I prefer something smaller. One side faced the street the other was partial ocean. Hotel was well kept and clean and a good location but there was not enough chairs around the pool and not a lot of service. It seems the hotel catered to it's all-inclusive guests.

Fantastic location, wonderful room, perfect access to the ocean. Everything you want to see and do is close and taxi service is always available. A great hotel, with beautiful rooms. Cannot wait to stay here again.

The experience was Ok. I was under the impression that I had paid for a full service and it turn out that we had to pay for food and drinks separate. I would appretiate a reinversement. We were in Cabo San Lucas 5 weeks ago and for less money we got a better hotel and everything included. I really got a bad surpplise this time. I want an answer from you.

For the best dining experience, make reservations early in the day (for that evening) in one of the restaurants that are part of the all-inclusive plan. A lot of people don't know about this, and the hotel doesn't really spell it out. My favorite restaurant was El Patio, where I had the best filet mignon of my entire life! The fish and beef were also good at El Alcazar, and the fish and Mexican food were good at La Cascada. La Cascada is also open for a sit-down breakfast and lunch; if you don't see what you like, ask for what you want and they can usually accomodate you. These restaurants are also kid-friendly, and you can dress casually. The only meal we ate at the buffet was the occasional breakfast when we were in a hurry. We did not care for the dinners at the buffet. For lunch, the snack bar and the grill near the beach serve a wide range of food that you can bring right down to the beach, if you want to. Having stayed here multiple times, I've learned to bring a stack of 1 bills for tipping. Yes, tips are already part of the all-inclusive, but we leave 1 per person per sit-down meal. We also tip the wailters who bring drinks. I also bring mini-chocolate bars to hand out; I make new friends, and I swear I get better deals from the beach vendors! Hope you enjoy your vacation!

El Cid Castilla Beach Hotel was a wonderful place to spend with 8 friends who wanted to get away and have some drinks on a beach in Mexico. The service was excellent, the food was great, and the price was right! This isn't a five star hotel but you could eat like you were at one and drink like it, too. Some of our bedrooms were recently remodeled and just beautiful and others needed to be redone. But all in all it was nice. The pools were great! You can even swim up to one of the bars in the pool. I would recommend this place also for any one looking to getaway with your kids. The kids around us seemed to be having a ball!

The El Cid Castilla was wonderful. It was very clean at all times. The staff was friendly and polite, but not overbearing. The pool area is fantastic and great for adults and kids alike. Excellent restaurants within walking distance, though riding in the pulmonia's is very inexpensive. The only downside are the timeshare sales vultures and the vendors/beggrs on the beach which is unfortunately federal property and so cannot be policed by the hotel staff.

We arrived very excited about our vacation but, since the first day I had to complain about ROACHES in the kitchen, had to call every day about 3 to 4 times daily and never had the problem taken care of. Worst hotel I have stayed in. Stayed in room 1703

Multiple pools, dining and an excellent business center. Views of the Pacific Ocean from balcony were excellent. Location near the shopping district, and ATM banking accross the street. Hotel is close to many restaurants. About a half hour ride from the Mazatlan Airport.Bathroom was very large and room was spacious. Great value for the dollar. Staff spoke good english.

We enjoyed our trip and the view of the waterfall and the surf and the crickets at night. Great place for teenagers. We were treated so well and were surprised that they remembered our names. Will go back again next year. Hardly anyone at this time of the year.

"the hotel service was spectacular, the food wonderful. We were on our Honeymoon budget style, so it was nice, but the last night I had a cockroach crawl in my mouth so that not nice, but they are everywhere in Mexico. The beaches are fabulous, and the water is clean, and you can drink the water in the hotel so that is a plus. Overall wonderful time, but the rooms need updating"

"We really enjoyed our vacation, the staff were helpful and friendly. Mazatlan has the warmest people we have ever met. We felt very safe. We will go back!"

The elevators could be the slowest in the world. Spent 15-20 minutes each day trying to get from the ninth floor to pool. I had better food in grade school cafeteria. Plenty of staff and pretty helpful the location was great and the views from the rooms incredible but would stay anywhere else next visit.

"My wife and I travel extensively and we love the Mexican Riviera. The El Cid Castilla is like a maze; It took us a day or two to know our way around. We finally realized the lobby was on floor 2. I guess we were placed in the older section. The room was old and in poor repair. The bathtub and toilet area was old with broken tiles. If you have young kids this place would be OK and is reasonabley priced. Be prepared to get hit up for time share ""invitations"". Just tell them you are leaving in the morning!! I will return to Mazatlan but sadly not at the El Cid Castilla."
