Ok for the money. Area is not the most desirable. A short walk to Omonia and Monastiraki Metro stations tho and you can also walk to the acropolis.

Location is very convenient to metro and city center. Room is small like most of budget hotel in Europe, but shower room is too small. not much too have for breakfast.

Being somewhat dazed by just arriving in Athens for the first time in 40 years, I was instantly relieved when the taxi driver found the Economy Hotel. The young man at the Reception Deck could not have been more helpful and friendly. He provided an excellent map of the area, explained the intricacies of Greek hotel rooms (inserting room key into box to turn lights on) and gave clear directions to nearest Metro stop, including information on fares, payment methods, etc. He was exceptionally polite and very well-informed; also spoke very good English! The room was simple but spotlessly clean and very comfortable. An added bonus was the free internet access provided to guests by merely requesting a 30-min. card from the Desk. The included continental breakfast was perfectly adequate, the food was fresh and plentiful. The room was also pleasant and very clean and comfortable. When I decided to return to Athens 2 weeks later, I was very sad to be told that there were no rooms available. I had become very comfortable at the Economy Hotel. I would definitely return and I would definitely recommend it to any friend planning to visit Athens. Did I mention that it is within a nice walking distance to the Acropolis! and some excellent museums.

The Economy Hotel in Athens is in a prime spot, located within walking distance to many of the restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions (ie the Acropolis). The staff was very friendly and helped us out with maps of the area and suggestions as to where to go and what to do. It was also pretty cheap and I considered it good value for the money. You get what you pay for here, so don't expect much in the way of ammenities or comfortable rooms. Our room was small and generally needed some renovations, but at least it was clean and the air conditioning worked. All in, I would recommend this to travelers looking for a cheap place to stay in the center of Athens.

In contrast with many other hotels (of the same type) in Athens, Economy Hotel has been adequatly renovated. Hotel is very well located altough Athina street (the street leading to Plaka and Acropolis fromn the hotel) can scare a bit during the night (not really dangerous but paralell pedestrian Eolu street is less dodgy) Continental Breakfast is quite decent. Rooms are clean. People at the reception are really wanting to help you. Good value for money. I really recommend it.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Two blocks from metro stop. Walking distance of major attractions though immediate neighborhood is a bit seedy. I would stay there again.

On arrival at the Economy Hotel we were given a map of Athens and told where all the tourist sites are (including restuarants), how to get to each of them, when the best time is to go and approximately how much everything should cost. The Hotel is quite basic, but meets all general requirements. The free breakfast in the morning is quite good with cerals, breads, fruit, juice, coffee etc. There is also free use of the internet. The Hotel is very close to Plaka and heaps of restaurants, markets and the Acropolis. We recommend this hotel as an excellent basic option and good value for money.
