Avereage, adequate facilities for overnight stay. Breakfast was skimpy and not well organized. Plan your activities away from the hotel and use hotel only to sleep. It is too far away from all the real attractions

The check in staff person. The check out staff person, size, condition of room andbreakfast selection. Small rooms, unfriendly staff, unwilling to be helpful by staff. Would only recommend if traveler intends to not spend time in hotel.

Reasonable accomodations for the price. The only downside was location. Although it was not far away, every other motel in Keystone is closer to Mt Rushmore. This one is off the beaten track.

September, 2008
Very clean rooms with a good choice of food items for breakfast. Friendly front desk staff. It is two stories and there is no elevator. We stayed for three nights and asked if we could have a first floor room when we got there or if we could move to a first floor room for the second or third nights and they said they didn't have any. We never saw a no vacancy sign while we were there, but we did want a queen bed and no smoking. They could use more than two two slice toasters in the breakfast room. People were always waiting to use a toaster so there wasn't enough room to sit down to eat for all the quests. We would diffinitely stay there again if we could have a first floor room.

Rooms were the smallest we've ever seen. Hardly enough room to move around. Pool was fine and the room appeared clean. The breakfast was very simple and we did not eat there because it was so minimal. The beds had something like plastic under the sheets and could be heard everytime we moved. It was the most expensive place we stayed on our vacation and it was the worst hotel. Staff was fine.

Hotel is in a great location and was reasonably priced considering the location and height of vacation season. However, still EXPENSIVE for a small room and not that quiet. Staff was courteous and helpful.

We liked the location, friendliness of staff, cleanliness. Dog barking in next room, staff took care of situation.

Lost our 8 day reservation, put us in "suite" with hole in wall, warped unlockable door, non working TV. It was a place to sleep,we were undetered. The last night of our stay, we were met at our truck by clerk who informed us they needed our room, so while we were gone that day, and without our knowledge or permission, the clerk went in our room PACKED our suitcases, video equipment, jewlery, toiletries, cooler etc, and moved them to another room! I was and am furious. Upon my complaint, the hotel Mgr stated "hotels are like jigsaw puzzles, you have to move people around to make them fit"! He refused to compensate us, "just because they moved our stuff". The things we overlooked so we could enjoy our vacation are as follows, if you need a clerk, you'll have to call them in off the porch because they are smoking, the breakfast is awful, the beds are hard and the matresses are covered with a plastic sheet (maybe to keep bedbugs off patrons). The vending machines are around the back, and don't work. There is almost no parking, we were pulling a trailer, and the neighbor to the hotel let us park in her yard ! We were there during the Sturgis motorcycle rally, so our room was $* per night. I would rather sleep in my truck than have our privacy invaded like this. The manager says "his staff goes into and moves guest items all the time, that's what you do when you manage a hotel".

Dirty!! I pulled back the covers on the bed and there were crumbs or something in there. There was toilet paper in the toilet that was supposed to be clean! The floor needed to be vacuumed. It was DISGUSTING!! I will never stay at another Econo Lodge!!

I found the hotel to be adequate, but felt it was overpriced for the condition and ammenities offered at the hotel. All it all, however; it was a comfortable stay.

Very helpful with directions. Good continental breakfast. Smoking and non-smoking rooms were together and the smell permeated the hallways. The motel is in an out-of-the way place which was nice. It would be a nice place to stay if you're on the move.

On checking into the motel the man at the desk acted like he didn't care if we were there or not. We got to our room and the heat was on when the temp outside was already 87 degrees. We turned on the air cond, unloaded our car and it was still very warm in the room. We removed the filter from the a/c and it was as dirty as dirt can be. Brought this to the front desk and they said they would wash it out and bring it to our room. 2 hours later I went to check on the filter and they said they put a hole in it so just use it as is! The room was an L shape with a very small TV in the far back corner, a little difficult to watch sitting in bed. We had a room in the back of the hotel so when you looked out the window all you could see is a weedy hill. This is a good motel for someone who doesn't care at all about a nice place and only needs a place to toss their head. Also 1 mile from town with nothing to do and not walking distance.

Good location for Mt. Rushmore. This was the smallest room in our two week vacation.

We stayed for 2 nights. Very friendly & helpful staff, both day and night. Breakfast was adequate. Complete facility was very clean. Convenient to Mt. Rushmore and lots of local attractions. Will stay here again if my wife and I return to the area.

The location and the willingness of some of the employees to help. The lousy mattress on the hide-a-bed & nobody helped to replace it. The horribly uncomfortable (thin & lumpy) mattress could not be changed on the hide-a-bed and why if the mattress couldn't be changed some accommodations to help with the discomfort couldn't be attempted. After one conversation as a follow up on my part, nothing was every mentioned again. Very disappointing. Room was tiny for one adult and 2 teenagers. And how many times do you have to ask for towels enough for 3.

During the 4th of July week, we experienced car trouble and we were stranded in Wyoming. We were 1300 miles from home. I phoned to cancel the reservation, but they refused.

"We found the Econo Lodge in Keystone to be a great value. The staff was very friendly & helpful, the room was clean & quiet, and we even got to enjoy watching deer in the evening! The cost was reasonable for Keystone. The Econo Lodge is family operated & located in the quiet part of Keystone."

Pool. Cold hot tub. Very uncomfortable bed. No ice. Not a great nights sleep.
