we were in town for the 4th. just needed a place to lay our heads. atequate, nice location for us.

It was inexpensive. Needed cosmetic work done and needed to be cleaner. I would probably stay here again, but the rooms need to be cleaned better.

If you need a room for overnight, the price is right. The staff was very friendly and after an ice storm the night before, they were out early getting everything cleaned off. The breakfast was nice. Will stay again overnight on the way to Chicago for the price.

I was on the very end at the back corner of the 2nd floor and it took me 10 min. to figure out how to get to my room, not very well marked. My room was very small, no separate closet, and the furniture was too big for the room. Bathroom was clean, but the toilet was not well-bolted to the floor and was very tippy. Overall, kinda creepy and gross. It took me over 5 min. to make a trip one way to the ice machine, only one on each level. Breakfast was okay....they had waffles but the area was crowded when I went down and hard to get to the food.

the room smells very bad, like smoke even we ask a non-smoke room.

Convenient to convention area and affordable. A lot of remodeling needs to be done. Not a bad place for the money. The free breakfast was pretty good (make your own waffles and biscuits with sausage gravy - not bad). Had free WiFi!

the room i reserved was awful. it was dirty and the heater smelled when it ran. I've never stayed in a worse place.

We came for the ITS festival and stayed here for a few days. Our room was dingy, small, smelt bad, and worst of all, the sheets were badly stained. There was a tarp under the bed. There were toenails in another members room. Our room didn't even have a microwave or a fridge. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in, but if you've got no money and no where else...

Econo Lodge is one of the cheapest hotels in Champaign-Urbana. While the location is not central, the bus system in the city is extensive and cheap. The area that the hotel is in is not that nice, so if you don't have a car and need to return to the hotel at night, consider taking a taxi or bus all the way back instead of walking. I don't know if they have smoking vs. non-smoking rooms, but they didn't ask me, and the room they put me in had a cigarette smell. The breakfast is nice; you can make your own belgian waffle!

Nice staff; good waffles andgood orange juice. Never got our room key working, dirty, smelly. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was moldy and smelled of very stale tobacco. The furniture was very dated and the room was dark. We were never given a working key. The parking lot was dirty the entire time. Even though breakfast was good, there were no cups for coffee or water on Sunday morning. The accommodations were not acceptable.

We got a great price through a package deal, but we wished we'd booked elsewhere. Room access was convoluted. The room smelled off (not horrible, but not good), the window-unit AC was loud, and there wasn't a single chair to sit in. The hotel's location was iffy--it did not seem like a very safe area--but in the end we didn't have any problems. The continental breakfast was average. We were glad of the internet access in the lobby. The best feature was the Thai/Pan-Asian restaurant right next door.

The price was much cheaper than others in the area, however, the rooms were not taken care of as well as they could have been. The rooms were not as clean as I would have liked, but they were acceptable.

If you are looking for a place to spend a night, it's ok. The rooms are small but clean. The only issue we had was that the fire sensor when off with the steam from the hot water in the bathroom. Other than that, it's just a room.
Date of Stay:
April, 2009
Location okay. Dirty smelly. I would not let my worse enemy sleep in the room.
