OMG!!!! This was the only place in Carbondale that allowed pets and had a pool (thus the reason why we chose this hotel / motel). We were moving from Florida to Missouri with our little daughter and we decided to stop by my old college town for a night to show her where Daddy went to college. Here's how it went:We show up and I was concerned that it was closed, due to construction. My wife instantly is concerned about the quality and safety of this place. I check in and go to our room. After having to shove my shoulder against the door to get it open, we realize that the air conditioning was on full-blast, but it was slightly cooler in there than it was outside (90-100 degrees). I think that they must have just turned on the air, so I unload our stuff and give it a chance, after all we are only there for one night...Needing to cool off we head to the pool. The pool was so dirty, we opt out of swimming after a few minutes of dipping our feet in. We head back to the room, which has now gotten as hot as the temp outside. Realizing this won't work, I head to the office to change rooms. The staff is very understanding and allow us to change rooms. I ask to check out the room first, so I don't have to keep loading and unloading. I find a room with somewhat working air and we re-locate. After walking past the residents (who were helpful in us finding the ice machine,) we re-locate to the room. We get cleaned up and head out for dinner, fully realizing that we must return before dark, due to the increasing number of "less than ideal" residents. As we head out I go through the office to return the keys to the first room. At this time there are at least 3 other guests complaining about their air conditioners and about 4 others saying that they will not stay there another night. The family and I go and enjoy dinner, but have an ominous feeling about our return to our lodgings.Regardless, we return and now see that the place is full, but many of the people are roaming from room

Rooms are filthy; have cockroaches; dirty towels; dirty entrance; construction is too noisy; swimming pool damaged and not working. The hotel is under construction because of tornado. It should not be used until complete construction. The walkways, entrances, and yard are very dirty. Rooms have lots of moving insects (flies, cockroaches, mosquito's.). Could not stay the whole night. I had to leave to middle of the night and take my family to a friend's house.

I was there on business. I was quite comfortable in my bed and fell asleep quickly but then woke up suddenly early in the morning to a group of boys outside yelling about shooting each other with guns. It was not enjoyable at all. The rest of the night I didn't get any sleep from the stress of the events outside. They need staff that can monitor the grounds.

First room was filthy, no toilet paper, remote didn't work. Second room, it wasn't much better, toothpaste stains on sink, room smelled. Filthy, poorly kept hotel in the middle of the ghetto. The first room was filthy, the floor was dirty, the bathroom had hair on the floor, there was no toilet paper the mirror was stained with what looked like soap suds or tooth paste, and the remote didn't work. The second room after I raised concerns and this room wasn't much better. It appeared as though it wasn't fully cleaned after the last person left. There was hair on the bathroom floor and in the tub. There was tooth paste residue in the sink. The room smelled. I was offered coke and pot in the parking lot. The free internet would only work from the lobby. I will never stay there again. Very poor performance.

It was easy to find and had our basic needs. It had a very run down appearance. It was run-down looking. There was no ice in the ice machine.

The hotel was dirty, the air conditioner worked poorly, and the walls were paper thin! This hotel is a nightmare! Do not stay here.

They canceled out the room, after we found lots of spiders in the bathroom. The place was dirty, the pool was horrible and the floors turned your socks brown. It was horrible. We did not stay.

It was very clean. Not enough breakfast choices. This was a really clean hotel that was very convenient and close to SIU.

Location was convenient to the university. The hotel pool was not in operation, but there was no reduction in the room rate. One reason we chose this hotel was because it had a pool and the pool was closed. We were very disappointed and we should have has a rate reduction for the lack of a pool. Also, there was a cockroach in our bathroom when we got up in the morning. The continental breakfast was nice.

The beds were not comfortable and the inside pool was not open for the teenagers to swim in. Disappointed in the contintental breakfast and had to go to a restaurant to eat. The pool was not open to swim in and it was inside pool. The beds were not comfortable to sleep on and the mattress pad and sheet bunch in the night.

My kids liked the pool. It was way too cold and I did not sleep well on that account. Hotel was clean and friendly, but our room was too cold and I could not turn the heat up.

It had a vacancy! The AC didn't work correctly. The pool water was green and not able to be used.

NA This was the worst hotel I have ever come across. This hotel was a nightmare I fact I did not stay there. because there was looked like bad company next door, and cock roaches crawling across the floor. When I pulled into the parking lot it looked like a dump plus there was a female walking up and down the street what appeared like she was waiting for a customer. I had charged this place on my charge card and thank god the man on duty understood why I was so shook up he assured me there would be no charge. Next time I'll wait until I get to my destination before I choose where I lay my head down at night.
