Disrespectful, disappointing attitude capping a night in an unclean room with faulty facilitiesMy partner and I spent a Saturday night at the Eaton as part of a birthday celebration. We arrived mid afternoon and the chap running the bar/reception was helpful and friendly in showing us to our rooms and where to park around the back of the hotel. The parking spaces were limited so we were told to park behind another car but to leave our keys with reception and they would juggle the cars around accordingly. The room was adequate for the price charged except for the shower that didn't work and the the overall level of grime in the bathroom exemplified by the half inch thick blanket of grime/dut/muck that had evolved over the extractor fan.The breakfast was excellent and the dining room airey and pleasant with nice views over the canal. The receptionist and kitchen staff were again helpful and friendly. The incident that soured our stay , leading me to write this review occured when we checked out.We advised the receptionist that our car was now blocked in so he said he would get the person whose car it was to move it out of the way for us. Having gone to the car and waited quarter of an hour for somebody to come (during which time another couple had arrived who were also blocked in by the same car) I rang reception again. He was suprised nothing had happened but said it would be sorted. Ten minutes later a woman , whom I guess was the hotels proprietor, appeared at the window above the car park and looked down to see if people were indeed blocked in.Five minutes after that she appeared in the car park, slunk into her car and aimed a wonderfully expressive look of disgust at ourselves saying not a word of apology for any delay or inconvenience she may have caused.I am generally pretty easy going and we were both willing to ignore the shower and the muck because we were only staying for one night, everybody we met who worked in the hotel was great ,the room was pretty che

handy hotela few little niggles the bulb had gone in the coridor were my room was so a bit of a fumble in the dark trying to unlock and getting in the room and could not get the shower to work which was frustrating, a lift was available which would be handy for people good on there legs, comfortable and quite a large room, ideal location for the railway station and city centre

Good locationMy friend and I booked 2 separate rooms for an overnight stay. His was excellent, I think it was a family room so he had plenty of room to spread out. My room was smaller. There were one or two aspects which could have been better. My TV remote control didn't work and the TV reception was poor. The lighting was poor and the switch buzzed a bit. However, as we just used it as a base, it was adequate for our stay and handy to be close to the station and not to far from the centre of Chester

I only stayed 1 night , but having the key to the front door made it convenient to pop out when I wanted late into the night. There was no shaver point (or I couldn't find it!) but that was not a big issue. The room was clean and well presented. A good hotel well worth the 2 star , if not 3 !

I've tried swinging cats in rooms this size and they get very badly hurt. Smoke detectors should work and not be disconnected with batteries missing. Standing under a leaking gutter would result in a higher pressure shower - might be warmer too. I always struggle with the logic of an hotel with pour rooms occupied and they give the fifth person who turns up a grotty room. I'd give them the best available so they came back. That said the staff were helpful, polite and the breakfast was fine. It's also very nicely positioned between the town and the railway station and next to the canal so waking to the quack of duck in such a built up area was great.

Friendly, helpful staff. Room decor a bit dated in style, but for the price it was good value.

Room was for 3 people. A double in main room and 2 singles in another room. Bathroom very small but adequate for 2 nights.Location fantastic for train station and town centre.Breakfast was quick and very good as was the dinning room.Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.Heating very erratic, freezing or far too hot.Friends stayed in another room and couldn't lock their door so had to change roms (another couple had the same problem.
