Great place.1 staff member on bar, reception and also waiting on tables- but apart from him being run ragged- the place was great!The food is amazing!! Especially the home-made Pate- the best I have ever had!Will definitely stop again!

lovely place, worth a visit!lovely setting, pretty building. rooms seemed nice and private set in a little courtyard, lots of flowers and hanging baskets, very pretty and quiet place. The room itself was pretty average, not exceptionally good or bad, but adaquate, good size and clean. The hotel had a lovely lawned area which my daughter really enjoyed running about on, the food was exceptional and generally the whole experience was good value for money. My only complaint was the bar/waiting staff were a bit slow, and we weren't offered dessert! The one time I had room! Would definately stay there again.

East Ayton LodgeThe food and service were really good. Some aspects of the room were oarticularly good (for example:the tiling of the bathroom walls and floor. However the smaller aspects fell short of the standard one would expect (eg. grout having fallen out; missing chunks of paint fron the surround to the Dining Room divider; grubby carpet in the Dining Room; parts of the artex/ceiling wallpaper having fallen off the ceiling. Generally the location of the hotel is excellent but it looks and feels vert tired and need of investment to bring it to the standard other similar establishments are offering in 2009. The staff and quality/quantity of food were exceptional.

East Ayton Family day outGood Hotel, welcoming and pleasant staff. Great location if you want a quiet setting or wish to explore the countryside.Food good also, accommodation as expected.Only negative was the sofabed which caused some backache so bunk beds might be more suitable/comfortable.All in all a good hotel and staff.

Scooter triplovely greeting and room set up early as requested - very clean and lovely settingBreakfast next day was superb and we would have had a meal there if we stayed another night.Great access to nearby facilities by taxi - only £6 to Scarborough and very regularRoom was very big and comfortable but was on downstairs and the floorboards were a little creaky above

stayed here 5 times dfirst three absolutley faultless stayed in summer very dissapointed new chef new manager food awful couldnt do a simple ceaser salad or lasagne came back this weekend to give another chance no improvement a lovely hotel that needs some tlc very sad lots of little niggles and a manager who seems oblivious to it all

We have visited East Ayton Lodge on several occasions to eat and once previously to stay. The food and service have always been and remain excellent. The hotel appears to have changed hands this year and the current manager is all too aware that the whole place is in urgent need of refurbishment. In our room ( not one the superior ones) the lavatory seat was loose, there was mould on the bathroom tiles and the shower was difficult to use as the curtain was too short. In spite of this we enjoyed our stay because of the location(within easy reach of town and country), the excellent food and the welcome and service we received from the manager and all his staff. We shall be going back.

An excellent place to stay. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. I had a small problem with my initial room because it was above the function area while there was a wedding on. A quick word with the manager and it was all sorted out. He moved us to a quieter room (he even had to put an extra bed in there for us)....and this was done at 10pm. And the chef is brilliant, large quantities of good quality home made food. Fantastic!!

The food and service were excellent. Our only complaint is the condition of our room. Although everything needed was there, the room was in need of refurbishment and a few pictures on the wall would have made all the difference too. The room was dimly lit and therefore not very inviting and one power point was loose in the wall. The room was in an annexed area and the wooden rails on part of the walkway were not secure and needed repairing. These few things made the hotel look a little unkempt. For that reason we would not stay again or recommend to a friend although the food was delicious and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Location and view from restaurant were good. Room was a decent size but dark and the carpet not good. Beds (two singles combined) were of very poor condition and did not provide any support. Breakfast good and service excellent.

Not quite 'country house hotel'. Large comfortable rooms but bathroom in need of TLC. Terrible pillows, cheap and smelling of previous guests! Good breakfast

Service in restaurant very poor. we waited for 40 mins to get our starters and no one asked us if we wanted drinks.not a lot of choice either. Breakfast was a little better but stiull not great.Our room was ok but not worth £100 for one night.Didn't like wooden outside staircase access to rooms because it felt very unsafe and quite rotten.

I had very enjoyable stay at the lodge, the food was excellent and we had Sunday Lunch, Evening Meal and Breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the grounds were lovely and brilliant for the kids to run around mad with a football.

food fantastic and reasonable,the staff couldnt be more helpful.the bad points,just one. make very sure that you are not allotted to stay in the motel style court yard rooms,they are truly a throw back to the crossroads motel,wouldnt have been suprised to see meg mortimer behind reception and benny doing the garden. the main hotel is v comfortable and the staff superb, breakfast was a joy

the attic family room was spacious and very comfortable for two adults and two childrenaged 8 and 9 years. We had two nights bed and breakfast and enjoyed an excellent bar meal on both nights. The location of the Hotel is very convenient for visiting Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and the Yorkshire Moors. We will definitely stay there again.
