The Eagle Inn exceeded our expectations. It was certainly a nice stayed. Our room was very clean and updated with nice furniture and bedding. The fireplace actually generated heat as well as ambiance. the bath was redone with nice tile and a beautiful pedastal sink. It was a great location and quiet street. We enjoyed the breakfast room with its variety of foods and the homemade cookies in the afternoons,

Homey, not typical corporate hotel chain vibe. Staff was great, accomodations wonderful.

The Eage Inn is a wonderful find for us because we visit Santa Barbara several times a year to see our son who is attending Santa Barbara university. Every room we've had at the inn over the past 2 years, and there have been several, has been clean, with comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and nice furnishings. If you can get one of their cottage rooms they are really exceptional, I don't think you will get one anywhere in Santa Barbara that's as nice for the price that they charge. The staff are all very friendly and very helpful with ideas for places to see and restaurants to visit. Their breakfast is good, with cereals, bagels, fresh fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee and orange juice. Help yourself to what you want is the breakfast service. Location is excellent on a quiet street only two minute walk to the beach/harbor.

Two things you should know: no air conditioning and no elevators. If we had known, we wouldn't have stayed there. After we lugged all our gear up the stairs to the room (we're senior citizens with some health problems), we found that the thermostat on the wall said it was 78 degrees in the room, too hot for sleeping. I looked at the thermostat trying to figure out how to turn on the A/C. It didn't have a setting for A/C, so I called the front desk. They confirmed what I had by then suspected -- no A/C. (The other poster who said the A/C is loud is wrong, there is none. Perhaps they meant the heat.) They offered to bring up a fan and we accepted. We had only made one request when we called to make our reservation -- a quiet room. The problem we had with the fan is that when we opened the door to the balcony for the fan to exhaust the room air, the car noise from the street outside our room kept us awake. And it was too hot to sleep with that door closed. As another poster mentioned, there is no one at the desk after 10:30, so if you arrive (or come back to the hotel) after that time, you have to make arrangements to get in.

Very cozy, clean, and spacious. Nothing. Rooms were clean, spacious, and had a warm welcoming feel to them. Location was ideal; between State street and the harbor (both within walking distance).

I am a frequent business traveler to Santa Barbara. Once I found this hotel I stopped looking for any other places to stay. The rooms have been recently remodelled and they have added independent studios behind the main building. The rooms are always clean, many of the rooms have gas fireplaces and jaccuzis. Not bathtub jaccuzis, seperate, large jaccuzis in the main room. They have a light healthy breakfast available as part of the rate with fresh fruit, cereal, bagels and pastries which is a great way to start the day. Though it is not in the middle of downtown, it is two blocks from the beach and the main pier, a short walk downtown and close to the highway it's easy to get to and close to other activities. If you prefer a small more intimate hotel this is the place as I don't mind if I can't get someone at the desk after 10:30. By the time I've had a couple of their fresh chocolate chip cookies at 5:00 all I need is a good meal and a nice room.

My husband were looking for a quiet bed and breakfast style hotel and we found it! The Eagle Inn was wonderful. Our room had a large whirlpool tub, a fireplace, an a dual head shower. It was perfect for our weekend getaway. When we arrived to our room, we found a path of rose petals in the room leading to the whirlpool tub along with a vase with red roses. There was a little basket of water, chips, chocolates, and fruit as well (free of charge!) The room was also incredibly clean and very nicely decorated. The hotel was was in very close proximity to State St (where many of the town's restaurants, bars, and shops are located) as well as the wharf and the train station. We arrived via train and did not need to rent a car or hire a taxi at all. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and if we ever return to Santa Barbara, would probably stay there again. I would suggest, however, that if you decide to indulge in a spa treatment with the spa the hotel works with, that you make the appointment yourself. We inadvertently found out that if you have the hotel book your spa treatment, they add a 10-20 surcharge.

Nice complimentary breakfast. No 24 hour front desk. The room and lobby were nice but upon arriving back to the hotel that evening at about 9 pm the front desk was already closed for the evening and the air conditioning unit in our room did not work nor did the phone in our room. The water pressure in the shower was very poor as well. I would probably not stay at this hotel again.

Disappointing stay after reading the description of the Inn. Mold on bathtub tiles, disabled (missing!) smoke detector in room, bed sheets spotted with strange black marks, no one mans front desk after 10:30 pm: you're on your own.

Beautiful Spanish Style. None of the rooms have air conditioning! Sleeping with open windows not good with gardeners and trash trucks outside. The Eagle in was a beautiful location! Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. My Husband and I went for our anniversary in August. Our only major drawback was the fact that none of the rooms have AC. The hotel staff will kindly bring you a fan for your room and ice if you need. Only sleeping with the windows open morning to night, you're woken up by the gardeners, trash trucks and cars outside. We had a great time, again the only issues that snowballed, were because there was no AC. I would recommend this hotel for a lovely stay, perhaps in the cooler months.

What a find! It is a lovely secluded place a couple blocks from the busy beach area. It has a very small, quiet, european feel with lots of little extras.

Great continental breakfast. Water had an odor. Our room was not air conditioned. Only some rooms are air conditioned according to the staff. The rooms were small but clean. The water had an odor that spread through the room. The continental breakfast was great. Overall, very overpriced, but all hotels in SB are too high.

my first impression of the inn was "wow, it's very clean" i liked the decor of the rooms and the entire inn very much as well. you can tell someone put a lot of effort into it. but what put it above and beyond was when i walked into the hallway after checking in, there were tea/coffee and cookies for the guests. little things like that showed the people at the inn really cared. i am most impressed with the cleaniness and the entire feeling of the inn. i think it can compete with the 4/5-star hotels i usually stay at. the only thing that i think can use some improvement was the continental breakfast. afterall, this is a "bed and breakfast", so the quality and selection for breakfast should be better. the only thing i can really eat were fruits. everything else was just high calorie pastries and dairy (i'm lactose intolerant). i think maybe some scambled eggs or protein of some sort will improve it. another thing was the AC unit. it is REALLY loud. but fortunately, it was cool enough i didnt' have to turn it on too much.what i would recommend is to get a room with balcony and whirlpool tub. it really makes or break the experience. i was able to get an upgrade when i asked for it for just a little more money. overall, i was really happy with the place. it's really cloes to state street and the wharf. it's decently priced, and it's one of the cleanest room i've stayed at.

The location in a mainly residential neighborhood made for a very and private stay. It lacked an open patio for guests to relax in. The Eagle Inn provided and very comfortable and romantic setting for my girlfriend and I. We will be booking another stay there soon!

This hotel/inn was amazing. We arrived late at night and were shown our room and we were amazed. we got the suite and it was beautiful, with a jaccuzzi and big beds and a fireplace with a small kitchenette. It was a little pricey and there was no elevator to get to the second floor so we had to carry our bags ourselves, but thats what you get for a small inn type place. howeever the place was very clean they had a nice little breakfast in the morning, they had free DVD's at night and it was only 2 blocks from the water but a little far from town. Either way the place was very romantic and worth the money if you could splurge!
