The Dylan Hotel was a great for the price. Easy to get to and conveniently located in the middle of everything without all the touristy fuss. Great room and the Benjamin Steakhouse was fabulous, can't wait to come back!

I was very leery of staying in a lesser price hotel and my friend made the arangements on Travel website. I looked up the hotel and was ready to book some where pricier when I decided to phone the hotel. I spoke with Oscar at the front desk who assured me not only would he be at the hotel the next night when I was staying he would make sure our rooms were to our liking. He also told me all about parkingmy car valet (which we did and it wasw great) On our way, we got lost int he one way streets and who answerd the phone but Oscar. He was not at the desk whne we arrived but came out to greet us! Our was great as he promised, the starched white sheets on the bed dispelled anynotions of bedbugs and the location was great for an early morning run into Central park the next day which was very memorable.the theme of " chemistry" was cleverly done in beakers and petri dishes in the bath. the bathroom was great. We are looking forward to ur return trip! Every hotel should have at least one Oscar!!!

Although we were very happy to be upgraded to a junior suite, we did hear loud voices from guests in adjoining room in the morning. The location was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely like to stay at the Dylan Hotel New York again when visiting New York. It was small and personal and convenient for shopping, business or sightseeing and public transport. We were within a block of Grand Central Station and the pick up point for the airport shuttle. If given a choice of airport or city centre hotel for a short layover, I would definitely chose this hotel.

Mixed feelings about this place. Its got a good location though not very glamorous. Its a little tired, was probably great 10 years ago but needs a total overhaul. Reception/front desk is clean and smart but its the rooms that are shabby especially the bathrooms . The reservations guy that i dealt with via email.Daniel, was a star but the front desk staff seemed rather disinterested and bored dealing with guests. On arrival u usually get a cheery hello and welcome at any hotel but not here, its a rather feeble and weak greeting so u immediately feel disappointed. If u love steak then u have try their restaurant, we had the best steaks we have ever had ! they were like something outta the Flintstones but tender and totally delicious for their mammoth size. Its a bit of a businessy type restaurant so quite low on ambiance.

Hotel was clean but room very small. Was in excellent location (2 mins to Grand Central) Main problem was the noise from bin Trucks going all night which led to very disruptive sleep. However I would use it again if I could get a room in the back of the hotel! Really was so central to all sights.

Great location, just off Madison Avenue and near to Fifth Avenue, Empire State Building & Grand Central Station. The Hotel was covered in scaffolding and work commenced about 9.30 am each morning. The staff were very friendly, small hotel room , but clean and house keeping attended daily. We stayed on a room only basis so did not eat in the hotel ,but the restaurant always looked busy. If your after a centrally located boutique hotel at a reasonable price then the Dylan is for you.

The christmas show at Radio city was excellent with the world famous Rockettes. Empire state building and Rockafella centre were within easy walking distance. In fact this was a great base for any trip to New York. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Would recommend to all.

This will be my second and last stay at the Dylan. It has lost its ability to deliver the trendy luxurious experience I remember from my last visit. My room was in total disrepair between the worn carpet, worn and nicked furniture and the mold in the bathroom. I found the mini bar half full, and the service to the room slow or non-existent. I should not have to supply the concierge with all the information to a restaurant to have a simple reservation made. With so many other good hotels in New York this was a huge disappointment, and I won?t be returning.

We used the Airport bus from JFK and drops you outside the hotel, very handy, and Grand Central is round the corner, great for the subway.

The Hotel Dylan was great for what we were looking for. We went to NY for 5 days landing on Boxing Day. We had 5 busy days sight seeing and shopping. The room was very clean and the staff answered the full equiries we had competently. The hotel was slightly impersonal and functional (no nice lobbies or bars to relax in), however, we just needed to sleep there, making it an expensive hotel to stay in. On the plus side it was in a fantastic location with central attractions in walking distance. The city is loud, something you can not escape from. We would recommend the Dylan Hotel New York if you were visiting the city to sight see or shopping. Just remember that several taxes are added to the quoted price making it more expensive than anticipated.

Beware that the pictures of the Dylan Hotel New York are very deceiving, and do not accurately depict what you see when you get there. First, the main lobby smelled extremely musty - perhaps due to the construction surrounding the facade of the building. Second, when we entered our room, we noticed a foul odor, somewhat like a public restroom. When we went into the bathroom and opened the shower curtain, we saw over a dozen 1/2 inch sized black beetle-like bugs crawling around the shower. The front desk refused to change our room until after we told them that we were leaving the hotel.

I got a little nervous after reading some of these reviews, but was pleasantly surprised when I got there. Yes, the staff is a little cold, but the room we had was clean, quite spacious, and as the photos promised. I can understand complaints about the bathroom having no shelf space, but it didn't hinder me as badly as they made it out to be. I guess if you're bringing your entire closet of bathroom toiletries, it would. Some problems: there was a mildew issue, but the staff was already on it. Temperature was hard to control; got freezing despite all my attempts. We were taking the train back to the airport, but another couple needed a taxi and were told to find one by walking up to the corner of the street. One thing I didn't understand was that they couldn't provide us with a receipt when we checked out. We were coldly informed that Expedia would handle that. What? It's not the first time I've ever booked through an online service. Has anyone else ever had that experience? If the staff is so bitter to customers who go through other online booking services, then maybe they should offer COMPETITIVE PRICES on their own site.Highlights: location is AMAZING! RIght next to Grand Central and a couple blocks across from Bryant Park/library. Also, I felt safe in the room, and leaving my stuff in the room. There is a safe available, for those who are extra cautious.

I ranked the quietness so low because there was construction going on directly outside of our window in the morning. When my fiancee complained, she was told that it was the city doing construction and there was nothing they could do or offer us. I really liked the hotel but that experience was negative. I will be staying at the Dylan again and hope to report differently next time!

Fairly spacious room by New York standards. Also, heard no street noises at all (we were on the 10th floor). No view whatsoever, but that's relatively unimportant to me. Excellent location. Very good value for a moderate price. Would stay there again.
