Dunvalanree, built in 1938 with an Art Deco flavour, was upgraded in 1999 to four star. Most rooms, all individually decorated, enjoy panoramic sea views. Standing in delightful gardens on the edge of Port Righ Bay, Dunvalanree enjoys splendid views over Kilbrannon Sound, to the Isle of Arran, and around Carradale Bay and Forest. Some sections of the Kintyre Way are also accessible. The area abounds in history, from Neolithic to Robert the Bruce. The Scottish nation emerged from the ancient kingdom of Dal Riada which is based around Kintyre, with Somerled, The Lords of the Isles. Saddell was home to one of the stone carving schools of west Scotland.
