Whatever you do try not to get one of the rooms below ground floor (next to the breakfast room). It is small, dark, dirty and noisy! We slept only 2 hours that night because we were so disgusted by the dirtiness of it. Hair, dust, mold and limescale were visible in everywhere we looked. We complained and wanted another room but they had none. In the end we had to search another hotel and only received one nights fee (out of three nights) as refund. No apologies - no one was even interested to hear why we wanted to change. While waiting to clear out the situation there were also others who seemed to have various kinds of problems with the service and rooms.

mistakeUnless you are on business don't bother staying here, they will only give there good rooms to business travellers, and will only treat people in a suit as a customer, because everyone else is a lesser person in there eyes.

Although room was small (single occupancy) I was very comfortable there. Excellent discount via [your website].

A pleasant hotel in a good location. The street noise late at night was quite noticeable and there is no air conditioning making the rooms quite stuffy. Also the rooms are a little too small for comfort. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

I recently stayed at the DoL for a week (third and last time) and I think I was penalised for 1. being a return client and 2. staying too long as I was initially given a room with the window in a closet and which was filthy and had pills strewn over the carpet (or rat poison?) and which the reception clerk later admitted to me was one of the worst rooms in the hotel. I was later moved to a smaller room with a window which was marginally better. As mentioned I stayed here before but the service and cleanliness has progressively gone down each time. There are a number of good, relatively reasonable two star hotels in London but this no longer is one of them. The only thing going for it at this point is location but even that has it drawbacks momentarily as the street is under major work as well and is noisier than normal, even for a London street.

The hotel was fine, conveniently located to Queensway, Kensington Gardens and Oxford street. The breakfast (included) was more than I expected from a free continental brakfast. The only points are: the room was very small (to work with my laptop I had to sit on the bed) and the rate for WiFi internet access disproportional.

The hotel was chosen for our 5 night stay in London through the Club because of location and pricing. Would not hesitate to stay here again if the opportunity arose in the future.

A negative experienceWhen we arrived the receptionist said she could not find our booking and that they had no room for us. I insisted and showed her the confirmation from Late Rooms, and she then, after a while, found a booking - filed under my fist name and without my surname on it at all.The room was in the basement. It was so small that there was no room for a bedside table on one side of the bed. Altogether it felt very cramped. The room was very stuffy, even though we left the window open all night. The room was noisy: I was awoken by doors inside the hotel banging in the middle of the night, as well as by traffic outside. The blankets were dirty. The sink had deposits of toothpaste from the previous user. The shower head was defective, giving out an uneven torrent of water rather than a spray. The shower drain was partially blocked, so that the shower basin overflowed after a while, and one had to turn off the water.

Always good value but this time breakfast staff were very slow and confused with orders for cooked breakfasts.

Ended up with a treble room - which was superb. Very friendly staff and ideal location close to Hyde Park.

Great location, very helpful and welcoming staff, small but clean rooms, good bathroom size. Only problem we had was we arrived when London was having a minor heat wave and the room had no air-conditoning, however as all good kiwis do we improvised with the fan provided, a window open and very little clothing when recovering from our trips around the city.

The staff couldn't be more friendly. But it is suppose to be a 4* Hotel. The breakfast was terrible with burnt bacon and awful smoked turkey sausage. The teabags in the room was not replaced so we had none for two out of three days. Every time they took a wash towel from the bathroom it was not replaced. We was put in a room below street level and right next to the breakfast room, so it was very noisy. Even though we complained about a security light that came on every few minutes and lit up our room right through the night, nothing was done about it. I can't understand why they put us in the room that always get bad reviews when they had other rooms empty? We went to London to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday, the Hotel did not even have a cork screw for us to borrow to open a bottle of wine!

OK hotel for the money, butnothing special. Room was very small and incredibly hot. However, lots of street noise so not possible to open window, if you want to get any sleep. Nice toiletries. Shower clean but a bit dated and very small.

Clean well appointed room, best value for money breakfast of 10 paddington hotels I have visited.

This hotel makes an excellent base for a holiday in London. It is situated in a quiet hotel area near Kensington Gardens and is close to buses and tubes. Rooms are small but well-equipped and all the staff are friendly and efficient. There is a small well-run breakfast restaurant with an excellent continental breakfast buffet. Full English breakfasts are also available. Queensway and Westbourne Grove are nearby with literally dozens of popular restaurants for eating out locally at night and Whiteleys shopping mall on Queensway has a multiscreen Odeon cinema showing latest films. We have stayed here before and will definitely return.

As per a complaint that I have already emailed through to Late Rooms, I had booked a double room but having checked into the hotel, I went to my room to find it was a horrible small damp single room. I phoned up reception and questioned the room sayig I had booked a double room and the response I got was that they had got no doubles left! I was eventually moved to another room but it was a twin room, although bigger it still only had single beds. I had booked into this hotel on purpose because they had doubles available (or so I thought) where others didn't. I got no refund/compensation or real apology for this.
