The hotel was awful from the start. After arriving exhausted in Torino, I had to wait outside the hotel from noon to 19:00hs because my room "wasn't ready yet". I should used this time to find another hotel, because things just went downhill. The room was tiny and murky, the TV didn't work and there was no remote, the window didn't have any muffler probably so that I could hear the drunk teens shouting around the whole night down the street. The bathroom was equipped with a fully cracked and broken sink that seemed to be constantly mended since the 19th century. The toilet cover was loose and you couldn't sit without slipping (not that I would sit anywhere on that bathroom). There were dry blood spills on the bed sheets. Would you like to complain? The manager is never reachable, and the receptionist is unhelpful and bordering intimidation. Would you like to change hotels? Unfortunately it's already 20:00hs, hotels around are all full, I'm worn out, I don't know the neighborhood, check mate. The price for this nightmare? A bargain, for "only" 89 euros (yes, that included the laughable breakfast containing a machine-made coffee and a burned dry bread). Oh, and there was no responsible person like a manager or owner to complain on the next morning, they were probably planning on how to provide the worst ever service for the following night. And, to tie things up, they sent me to the opposite direction when I asked where the Palazzo Reale was. Avoid at all costs.

Optimal quality/price ratio. Close to railway station. Safe at night. Basic facilities. Clean. Relatively large and confy single room, with nice frescos on the ceilings. Nothing really to complain if you consider I paid peanuts for the room.

I was flabbergasted by the rate I got: 50 Eur for a clean 3 star in Turin it's peanuts. The area gets a little shady at night as it is often the case near railway stations in large towns, but it is not unsafe. The single room wa very spacious, with completely renewed bathroom, a very nice old dresser, an old fresco on the ceiling, 14' flat screen TV. I expected a piece of crap hotel but it was very nice compared the short budget I had.
