Very bad food. The rooms are a disappointment.

We upgraded to the 'preferred' room package and it wasn't that much more and the benefits were well worth it..However, there was no distinguishable between non preferred and us, so some of the extra amenities that were for us, the other guests took advantage of. As an example, the preferred pool, the club lounge, Sunset Grill restaurant.. The Hotel itself was impeccable and we have no complaints with the way it looks at all. Very much like the pictures on the internet, even the rooms looked just like the pictures. The bathrooms, like other people had commented, the showers did put water on the floor, but hey.. room service comes twice a day (for preferred guests), so it didn't bother us at all. The resort was very relaxing right on the beautiful beach and in reality, there wasn't any shortage of lounge chairs/ pool chairs or towels. All the restaurants were very enjoyable and you need to try them all each at least once. Service is slow, but you have to remember your on Dominican time.. The nightlife for adults was the only thing we could complain about.. There is one "club" in the rear of the casino that would be perfect for early to mid 20's.. as we are in our early 30's, it was a little young and loud for us. Apart from the once a night entertainment from the staff, one other outdoor bar.. there really is nothing else to to here for a more mature generation (and we aren't THAT old!!)- maybe a piano/jazz bar area...

resort was nice enough family resort. staff was friendly but not especially responsive. we were in a suite. no ironing board, hair dryer broken, had to call late in "next day" for previous day's"same day" laundry service. But most disturbing was the sewer gas smell at night when one of the AC units turned on. may be sub par construction and leaky pipes in the walls near ventilation ducts. able to somewhat mask the smell with the incense they provide in the room. Food was OK for in inclusive resort but have had better in Punta Cana. we tried repeatedly to parasail. not sure why but got the impression that unless more guests signed up for the day they wounldn't take us out. resort was farther away from the airport than our agent told us. easily over an hour to get there. overall still enjoyed our stay away from the cold.

The hotel was just okay. It is definitely not top of the line. I thought Orbitz had this as a 5 star hotel. I give it 3 tops. The best thing about this hotel is how close it is to the airport. The service was horrible. Two days in a row we came back to our room after being gone all day and the room still wasn't clean (bed not made, towels not replaced, etc.) They randomly turned down the bed at night. There was also no sense of urgency among the staff. For example, I called down for additional towels and I got them 4 hours later. I also didn't like the location or view of our room. I thought we get a view of the gardens. The so-called "gardens" were totally bush league. Most of the rooms do not have an ocean view. We were also not aware (as Orbitz did not indicate on their website) that there was a preferred VIP option for stay at the hotel. Not that we would have chosen it (because others we spoke to said it wasn't worth the extra $80 per night), but it would have been nice to know. Also, I didn't like the way they try to trap you with regard to the hotel transportation to and from the airport. You definitely need it, but then in order to get a ride back to the airport on the day you leave, you are requied to sit with a sales guy on your first day there who tells you all about the day trips you can go on. When we didn't schedule anything with the guy, he snubbed us when we went to confirm our ride back to the airport. I was concerned that he would purposely screw things up because we didn't buy anything from him. I also didn't like that the hotel staff went around every day practically begging people to participate in their sponsored day trip activities that you would have to pay for. I just wanted to be left alone. But at least a dozen people a day asked me if I wanted to go horseback riding or dunebuggy riding. One day my husband and I wanted to take windsurfing lessons. I was surprised at how rude and impatient the guy giving the lessons were. I think I would ha

Just arrived back from Dreams Palm Beach Resort and will be telling friends and family what a great time I had. I have been traveling the carribean and Mexico for 12 years and this place is right up there for the best trip ever. The staff was by far the friendliest I have ever encountered. The food was wonderful, especially the Japanese and french restaurants. The activities were non-stop. Will be going back in the future.

Our stay at Alegro Punta Cana was wonderful. We almost did not choose it because of other reviews. The hotel was very nice. The rooms were spacious and clean, sevice was wonderful, and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is all- inclusive and we enjoyed spending time on the property. We did not need to come off of the property for anything execpt tours. When you read other reviews, remember that some people complain about everything. It is not a 5-star hotel so certain luxuries are not available, but make your own experiences when you travel. Also remember, that when you travel, do not expect the same as at home YOU ARE NOT AT HOME, and things will be different. So go with the intention to make the best out of your vacation time.

Hotel was ok. Our air conditioner did not ever get below 73 degrees and our water was never really hot in the jacuzzi tub which was very disappointing especially since we upgraded to a room with a tub in it. Pools were very nice and staff was extremely helpful!

We just returned from a week at Dreams Palm Beach and it was fantastic! Its a short 20 minute ride from the airport and fairly secluded with only one resort on each side. The food was great and we never had to worry about getting ill from eating something. In fact EVERY other couple that we talked with said the food here is BY FAR the best they have had at a resort, including resorts in Mexico and Jamaica. Where else can you get grilled lobster tails on the buffet, or eat a Ribeye steak on the beach (Seaside Grill)? The drinks were plenty strong and there was top shelf liquor including Jack Daniels, Canadian club, Jim Beam at all the bars. There was entertainment every evening on the outdoor stage and activities throughout the day. The room was very clean with a flat screen LCD tv, DVD player, safe, stocked fridge (beer, soda, juice). The beds are very comfortable and I slept well every night. The service was exceptional and you could see the staff was trying very hard to make our stay enjoyable. People were cleaning everything and hosing down the walkways in the mornings. Waitresses brought drinks right out to the beach. The beach is as beautiful as it can get with soft, clean sand and crystal clear water. There are lots of palm trees and you can walk for miles. The resort is maybe closer to a 5 apple than a 6 apple since it is clean and neat, but not glamorous. We were looking for some romantic time alone together at a nice resort and our expectations were exceeded. We talked with many other guests and they agreed that the place is great. I would go back. Excellent Value.

Hotel was horrible. Found out Jr Suite we paid for was the same size as the regular room except it had a couch instead of a second bed. When we checked in we were given the regular room and told that since we are 4 people (which we made the reservation for) we would not fit in a Jr Suite. Then they refused to refund the price difference in the rooms. When we arrived at the room we discovered the paint on the wall was still wet, unfortunately we discovered this when my son touched the wall after he had laid his suitcase against the wall. There were no other rooms available so we were stuck with the room and the paint. Front desk and the manager were unhelpfull. All they said was that it was an online travel website's fault since i made my reservations thru them. Hotel is very old. The bath tub had cracks and bumbs at the bottom. My mothers bath tub had no curtain or door.Towels for the pool and beach were never available. Workers at the towel desk would only say come back later and when you did they still did not have any available. Pool was always extremely hot- more like a hot tub. Beach had lots of sea weed. Food at buffet was okay, but if specialty restaurant was bad and it took about 2 hours to complete dinner service. Very good security, they were all over the place. Nightly show were pretty good. -Like i said stay somewhere else !

This was a wonderful trip for total R&R which is what I was after. I got up in the morning and headed to the beach at 7am before everyone had taken the shaded beach chairs. I stayed there until 3pm. It was exactly what I needed. There was lots to do during the day and I had intentions of doing some of them, but never could peel away from the beach. Really nice people and I would say more upscale clientele. I travelled alone and so that was great for me.

Find Another hotel-PLEASE. Any review of this property that would encourage you to go is completely misleading. Every negative aspect in the previous reviews are 100% correct. Rooms-poorly furnished, no towels, tissues, hot water/pressure, headboards, amenities, or working tv (three stations all fuzzy). Hardly any English speakers and NO ONE cares. If you can get it for less than 100 a night-than it might be worth it. "

The reviews told me not to book the allegro but I did it anyway. It was so bad I am going to save the details. Remember when you read this...........and you get to your room and you realize that there are NO REFUNDS AND YOU HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS FOR A WEEK.

Dreams Cancun was amazing. This place is TERRIBLE! We waited two hours to eat when the place was empty. They would hide all the premium ahlcohol bottles. We never received turn down service. We went without water in our hotel room/bathroom for hours! The night activities were cancelled almost every night. We felt very unsafe off the resort. I strongly do not recommend. It was a big disappointment. If it wasn't for the swine flu, we would of been in Tulum.

This was the most frightening and degrading experience I have ever endured. My luggage never arrived and NO ONE in the hotel staff was willing to help with my situation. I was not allowed in any of the restaurants, disco or casino because I did not have proper attire (baggage having never arrived). My friends clothes were all ruined on the second day or our stay when our room flooded and no attempt was made to accomodate him as well. I was denied transportation to the airport (to look for my luggage)and was treated as if I had the plague whenever I tried to get some help. I would never go back to this hole!

No tmuch to do laid by the pool and went horseback riding on some sad looking horses. The hotel staff are very confused give all differnt answer to any questions they were asked. No water in room two of the 5 days. Food is okay if you like bland no taste nutrition! Would no go there again. representative was mean and could not give any answers to questions. [...]was his name.No entertaianment that was of an qaulity!
