The Hotel was great, the restaurants were wonderful and the pools, especially the one with the wlak up bar was terrific. The place was spotless and the service was excellent, from the minute you get to the hotel, you are greeted with a cool cloth to clean you hands and a glass of champagne. Most of them spoke English and if they didn't they found someone to help you. The only problem was the pick-up at the airport with CoCo Tours. But they did come through the day we were leaving.

This resort is spectacular! I cannot say enough about the friendliness of the employees. We slept soooo good in those comfortable beds! I'm in love with the entertainment team! Risa, Anita, Picachu, Miami, Leo, Andy, Pablo... We've been twice now, and the rooms were even more beautiful this time and the food was outstanding! Get the Ribeye at Seascape restaurant. You will have even more fun if you get involved in all the beach/pool activities. I am so ready to go back. I left part of my heart there!

The Resort grounds and Beach are wonderful. Lots of beach and chairs for everyone. The water is slowed by a reef so it was ususally very calm. The reef was good for snorkeling, so you didn't have to go far. The rooms are just average, a little dated. The walls are super thin, so you have to hope not to get a noisy group on both sides of you or you're up all night. The food was just average. Not good but not bad, could be improved. The staff was the same, some were wonderful, others not so much. For the price and the weather we had though, we had a good time.

Everyone was so nice and polite willing to help you in any matter that you may have. We are planning on going again soon. One of the best island we visited. The front desk was very friendly, our room was cleaned everyday and mopped. The overall hotel experience was great.

The hotel was very nice, not what I would truly call 4-star though. Our room was clean, good-sized and very comfortable. Partial ocean view was OK, but perhaps not worth the extra cost. The spa has seen better days. It was somewhat run down. The massages were not very good if you really like deep tissue massages. The workout facility was well equipped and the tennis courts were clay courts that were well maintained. The beach is OK, not great. Of course, we live in Florida, so we are used to some long and beautiful beaches. The water color was beautiful and there is indeed a small reef right out from the hotel. Very accessible for snorkeling. The coral was not that beautiful, but there was a nice selection of fish. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food at most of the restaurants was very good--especially the specialty ones--french, italian and asian ones. We flew into Santo Domingo. It is a solid two hour ride from the airport to the hotel. They drive kind of crazy. We chose to take private transportation for just my wife and me. Would we go again? We were very happy with our trip and our stay. We went home relaxed. But the hotel and the location were not so fantastic that we thought, "We have to go there again. " This trip was rescheduled from a trip to Cancun due to the swine flu scare.

just returned from a weekend vacation at Casa del Mar and it was Fantastic. The service was very good, The staff was superfriendly and will go out of their way to make you comfortable. On our first night we had a problem with the door lock, but we were quickly given another room. The rooms are nicely decorated with balconies and very spacious, Bathroom was also very large. All the Hotel staff , from the front desk to the groundskeepers were friendly, the activities were great, I specially enjoyed the water gym with . The evening Show could use some better entertainers but other than taht I would definately recommend this hotel. You cannot beat the value for the money you pay.

This was wonderful place for a gettaway. The preferred rooms were excellent, as was the private pool, although it was difficult to find shade if you were not up very early in the morning. The selection of restaurants was also great. the Italian was my favorite, but the Dominican restaurant by the beach was very romantic. The large selection and availability of food and drinks is a plus. Although we went as a couple, it was a family friendly place, as many people were vacationing with their children. I would suggest booking a preferred room if you want to avoid large groups with children in the other pools.

For a reasonably priced, all-inclusive, large resort, this is an amazingly well-run, friendly, attractive and comfortable place. For me, it was a better experience than Casa de Campo at several times the price. Staff just couldn't be nicer, though the front desk could use some competent, well-informed help. Also, Travel agency will sell you an "ocean view" room which is partial view at best. It took us three room changes before we settled into a well-furnished room with an acceptable (not spectacular) view. Overall, though, it was a wonderful experience in a resort that deserves a 4 star rating.

It was the greatest vacation for me my boyfriend. We went to check out the place because we were thinking of getting married there but the wedding coordinator was not helpful at all. Other than that it was great.

We had an incredible time. My one and only complaint was the walls were thin so we could hear our neighbors when they played music or had their TV on. But, that is my one and only complaint. The check-in was quick and painless, the beach was gorgeous, the pools clean and very relaxing, the staff was wonderful and the food was very good. We were put in the 7000 block which was for "preferred members" so it was very quiet at our end of the complex and towels were put out at our pool each morning. We ate in all the restaurants except the asian one and consistently had good food!) and several meals at the buffet. There was always an abundance of fresh fruit and breads there and we could always find something that was yummy...loved the fresh donuts and coffee in the morning! We really enjoyed the coffee at the coffee bar in the evening, too. They'd make it with frangelica or irish cream - awesome! We did one excursion to Catalina Island that we thoroughly enjoyed. Great trip - can't to go back!

The staff is very friendly, if not efficent. Most meals are buffet style, there are some events and the beach is nice, though small. The pools are fun and have a cool swim-up bar. THis vacation is like a cruise ship for those who get seasick. If you live on the coast already, skip it, but if you live in Ohio, this is for you.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: The nature in DR is beautiful and the people are amazingly nice. We loved the destination: sun, sand, and local people. RESORT: This was a good family resort, we are childless and still had a great time. We were in bldg. 1, 3rd floor which was recently remodeled. Vaulted wood ceilings, nice and clean room. Bellboy deserves his tip for carrying our luggage up 3 flights of stairs ? no elevators. The maid staff was wonderful and got a great tip as well. Other guests had to change bldgs because their room was substandard, beds that when you sat on them the mildew puffed in the air. Great beach/pool towel service and tons of activities for adults and child alike, you?ll never get bored. The swim-up bar?s regular staff was awesome (their fill-ins were the exact opposite ~ terrible). TOURS: I went on the horseback tour to the cave, La Rota. This was the best tour ever! The staff actually let you cantor and run the horses. One must be physically fit to enter the cave area, it?s a good, rocky and dark (the guide brings a flashlight to light your way) climb down to the amazingly clear fresh water stream that pools up. It?s approximately 45? deep in places. A wonderful and refreshing place to swim. It was so refreshing that everyone on our tour got the giggles. The tour of Altos de Chavon was a day long event on a bus with 4-5 stops. Shopping, small cigar factory, Taino Indian cave that was taken over by the government in 2000, lunch on a river boat and finally Altos de Chavon. Chavon is a 16th century Italian village recreation. It?s beautiful with amazing views, but a bit out of place. There is shopping, food, golf, and it?s known for its celebrities. Sting, Shakira have played the amphitheater and Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley got married there. FOOD: A big variety of food on different days, but very mediocre. Amazingly enough, the best item I ever had was dinner at the Seafood Grill ? a filet mignon, good flavor, tender and cooked perfectly. DR

Upon arrival, the check in time was terribly long. We had read about tipping, so we made sure we were tipping graciously and still we were treated poorly. We could hear some the staff talking about us in a derogatory manner when they thought we didn't understand Spanish. We stopped by Guest Services several times and the girl behind the desk was not helpful at all. It took 2 days before we found out there was a different area of the hotel to redeem our vouchers for our excursion. We also asked for Coffee Mate 5 times at Guest Services and never got it. We scheduled our excursion for Thursday and we were feeling like we finally made progress. Then we were notified on Wednesday night that our excursion was canceled because apparently, the guy who owned the boat didn't feel like it was worth his time to take us out. The MAIN REASON we went to the DR was to see Altos de Chavon. This excursion was to be the highlight of our trip. The GYM was lame as most of the equipment was broken. My friend went to the Spa to get a Spa Pedicure and it was terrible. They didn't use a clear over coat and took very little time on the Spa part. Needless to say, the polish didn't last long and the $50.00 plus tip spent was not worth it. We will never go back to the Dominican Republic.
