Overview:
The Dover Beach Hotel Christ Church is a great Christ Church hotel that includes three blocks (Calais, Goldwater, and Flowers) that is all located in a quiet veranda just off the lively St. Lawrence Gap. 'The Gap' is known for its ample range of shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Calais is found on the beach, Flowers is found in the bright tropical gardens, and Goldwater is an island structure that supports its own gardens.
The Dover Beach Hotel Christ Church is located just a few minutes' walk from the famous St. Lawrence Gap nestled along the beach.
All of the rooms at the Dover Beach Hotel Christ Church are equipped with air-conditioning, telephones, radios, safes, cable TV, full bathrooms, and balconies views of either the ocean or tropical gardens, and full kitchenettes with both stoves and refrigerators. There is also housekeeping that is offered daily.
The Dover Beach Hotel Christ Church is completely family-owned hotel and is serenely located near the energetic St. Lawrence Gap. The hotel features a pool and sundeck, a poolside snack bar, wireless Internet throughout the property, valet laundry service, currency exchange, 24-hour security, beach towels, fax and copy services, and even a meeting room. my husband and I had lots of fun.The hotel is located close to every thing the st. Lawrence gap was full of nightlife dancing, food, clubing and shopping. we also went on tours seen a lot of pretty places. Wil l love to go back very soon or even live there. You will need lots of sunscreen and glasses. the temperature was hot light rain at times but the sun came right out in second to dry you off

Nothing. Under construction, no lobby, bar, or restaurant. Rooms smelled. Had to walk through construction site. Did not stay there. Walked out disgusted!

Spent 7 nights in early December 2008 w/my daughter. Booked an ocean view room and got a outstanding price. Room was clean, comfortable, great view of the pool & beach. Although the hotel is on the beach, you actually walk down from their "deck" to the sand and water. This is a plus since you can catch some rays and not get sandy. Dover Beach is very nice and doesn't have too much of a problem with pesky vendors. Location is perfect for a short walk to St Lawrence Gap & the club scene. They have a small open bar/restaurant with a modest (and inexpensive) menu. The manager of the bar is top notch. If you want to do day trips.. their booker, will do her best to get you everything you need at a fair price. This is a modest hotel, no fancy frills, clean and comfortable. We'll be going back for the fishing tournaments in March-April and booking Dover! Their security guy roams the property and keeps his eyes open once the sun goes down.

I thought when you go away on vacation, the hotel is suppose to look and feel better than your home. The beds were uncomfortable. We slept on two hard (not even firm) military twin size mattresses pushed together. The sheets and comforters were stained. The furniture was old and abused. There were no curtains for some of the windows. The staff were not pleasant. Some of the staff acted as if they didn't want to serve or assist you. We had to check out early. We booked the room for 6days, 5 nights and we had to check out the 3rd day. I just did not like the enviroment at all. To what I saw on the site to what I seen in person was totally different and upsetting. I was and still is very disappointed.

Located not too far from the airport, you can't beat Dover Beach Hotel's location. It is located in Barbados' hip St. Lawrence's Gap, and it is not too far from the famous Ostin's. The hotel is tucked intimately on the beach with a very lush setting. Those who stay on the beach side of the hotel have a balcony with fantastic views of the very active Dover Beach and the hotel's swimming pool. The room was equipped with a full kitchen. The hotel provided a list of tours and transportation everyday. Security was on duty 24/7 and was very helpful when our clothes blew off the balcony and when we needed extra towels during the time the maid staff was unavailable. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts. It's not your run of the mill breakfasts you have at some hotels. There your food is prepared at the time it is ordered. All the activity along the Gap can be reach by foot. Every night several hotels and clubs have varying entertainment from karaoke to live bands. On any given day, ladies often get in free at a club and many offer happy hour. In a nutshell, our vacation was fantastic. However, perhaps Dover Beach Hotel can offer more entertainment at its hotel. Perhaps they can freshen up the inside of the hotel's rooms with paint, new drapes, and new bedding. Perhaps they can do a more thorough cleaning. We experienced floors that weren't mopped very well. Matter of fact, pieces from the mop were left behind. On two occasions, I had to use a towel to re-clean the floors. The bathroom didn't smell clean when it was cleaned. I didn't smell a hint of disinfectant. The shower curtain was dirty. The frig smelled like fish when we arrived. Some channels on the t.v. didn't work properly. Please be mindful the issues mentioned above weren't daily occurrences and they may have only occurred in our room. The staff was happy to alleviate problems that were brought to its attention. Overall, the hotel room was satisfactory. Also, every other part of the hotel was very clean.

Great price andgreat location. The one bedroom apartment was perfect for our stay, especially for the price. There were 4 beds and 1 sofa bed for 4 people. It was nice having a separate room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was nice also.

We stayed 7 nights for our 25th Anniversary and had a wonderful time. We were fortunate to be upgraded to an ocean front room on the 2nd floor - the view was breathtaking! The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The only downside was the ongoing construction to the bar/restaurant that never seemed to be making any progress. The room was very clean as was the hotel itself. The pool area and sundeck area seemed littered at times, but that is due to the guests not picking up after themselves! Overall, had a great experience and would stay again!

This hotel was exactly what we expected it to be and what it described itself as on its website. We were looking for something smaller near restaurants so we could walk. This hotel is at the end of "The Gap" so you are away from all the noise and bustle but can still walk to all the restaurants (at the other end of the Gap). We also wanted something with a beach access and a pool for cooling off. It has direct beach access and a small pool (and a small fitness room and internet kiosk). It also has a sun deck that looks out over the ocean. It has a small restaurant where we had breakfast and lunch a few times. We found the staff to be great and the food good and not too expensive. The best bonus was they had a lovely in-house activities director, [...], who helped us make reservations for snorkeling tours and rental cars at no extra charge! She would check to see when things were open and how much their entrance fees were for us. She was really great! There is a small store nearby for buying some items to use in the kitchenettes. The room was clean and well equipped: real king size bed, hair dryer, iron and board, Cable TV and full kitchenette (microwave, fridge, oven, coffee maker). NOTE: We reserved a Garden Room and when we arrived there was construction going on next door so they tried to move us to a room overlooking the street (yuck!). I actually went back to the desk and asked if they had anything else available and we ended up in a Pool/Ocean view room for the same price as the Garden Room. If you can get an upgrade like this it was fantastic. Otherwise, I would probably splurge and get the Pool/Ocean view room. It would have been worth the extra money as sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee in the morning (or in the evening with a glass of wine) looking out over the ocean was heavenly. The only thing we didn't like was that this area of Barbados had some high winds and the ocean was a little too rough for my husband's and I liking in terms of swimming

It was on the beach, had a kitchen, and was very clean. There was nothing I did not like. The Dover Beach Hotel in Barbados is a great deal for the money. My room was clean and had a kitchen, which allowed me to store foods I had picked up during my travels around the island. Right outside my window was the beach. I really liked the Dover and would recommend it.

Rooms are nothing like they claim. They are very small, the hotel is under constrution, no working air condition in my room, no working coffee maker , bed hard as a rock, pool the size of one I would install in my back yard

We went to Barbados for a wedding. The bridal couple had chosen the Rostrevor hotel and gotten a deal there, but we found a better package deal on Orbitz with The Dover Beach Hotel. Most wedding guests stayed at the Rostrevor, but we were much more pleased with Dover Beach (and other wedding guests who didn't choose it were jealous of our showers actually having warm water!). It had air conditioning, a television with cable stations, a beautiful beach, great pool area, and delicious on-site restaurant which served all meals and had daily happy hour specials. The rooms also have fully-stocked kitchenettes, with stove, microwave, sink and a large mini-fridge. I would definitely choose this hotel again for the price. The location is not right in the heart of the St. Lawrence Gap, but is easily walkable, and better because it's quieter, and the beach is actually adjacent to the hotel. Great little spot!!!

My husband and I just wanted a beach!!! Didn't care for frills and thrills on this vacation...money was tight but the winter was killing us so we researched Dover Beach Hotel and it was just what we wanted! Simple, near a beach and extremely clean!!! PROS: The room even had a kitchen! So if you really want to be budget you can cook your own food...they even did our dishes! I wouldn't recommend it for a honeymoon, but if you just want to be in Barbados and lay on a beach all day, while keeping budget in mind, its the perfect place. All I cared about was CLEAN and NO BUGS and that is what I got! Staff was also friendly and helpful. Beaches are all public so you can walk down and enjoy the beach that the suckers are paying $300 a night to enjoy! Walking distance from St.Lawrence Gap! CONS Bed was foam ! Didn't mind it, but some might... Lots of noise coming from a new hotel construction going up construction beside Dover Beach. View from Garden View suite not that great but I wasn't there for the view and we got the cheapest room available...

This is not a luxury or resort property, but for the budget minded, it is great. I have issues with air conditioning, and was delighted that in the living/dining area, there was a ceiling fan. Air conditioning that was very controllable was in the bedroom. The unit had a small refrigerator, stove, and utinsels; there were a couple of stores for supplies within easy walking distance. The unit also had a lovely little balcony overlooking the garden. I think this was an older section of the facility, but it was spotlessly clean and fresh. The pool, in the main part of the facility, was small but pleasant for a few laps. Wifi service in the lobby provided a good signal. The restaurant was okay, but nothing to write home about, although service was good. I should note that my stay was very brief, but I would return here without hesitation.

I was very happy with the hotel, it meet all my needs, the staff were very friendly and had lots of great tips to enhance my stay. The rooms were very clean, and I like the fact that there was a kitchen, that you could use.
