The hotel stay was enjoyable and right in the center of everything. The rooms were clean and maintained very well. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice beds, friendly stuff and good location.

We stayed while attending a couple of Penguins games at nearby Mellon Arena. It's a very short walk to the arena and was ultra convenient. Parking for the hotel was a breeze. They also have a free shuttle that will take you around downtown. 7-11 convenient store also in same building was a plus. Bed and the bedding was great and very comfortable. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

Good breakfast at hotel's restaurant, downtown location. Smoking room given as non-smoking, room AC didn't work and was noisy. We had requested a non-smoking room. We were given a supposedly non-smoking room but it had a strong smoking smell everywhere. We had to leave the windows open and AC turned on throughout our 4 day stay. We were promised a new room on 2nd day but didn't get one as hotel was full. AC went down on 3rd day. It kept on switching between low-high-economy-auto modes every second, didn't honor the set temp and the switching was so noisy that I couldn't sleep. Parking was very expensive (18-20$). Maybe it was the downtown factor. In summary, if it would not have been the persistent smell of smoke in the room.

We stayed a third time just to visit. All the staff were still exceptional. The rooms were always ready and comfortable. Location downtown near Strip and Melon Arena with access to the T(subway) makes every visit a car-less experience. A small frig would be nice but ice very available and the room service is exceptional and not pricey. The restaurant is still one of the best in Pittsburgh.

The hotel was very nice and trendy. The staff was so nice and helpful. I would stay at this location again. Walking distance from everything. We had a great time. I was sad to leave.

The free shuttle service around downtown is wonderful! Cookies are great! The Bigelow Grille has terrible food and service. The rooms are spacious and clean. The linens are especially nice - feather pillows, down comforters with duvets - crisp white towels - everything was very clean. Despite having smoking rooms, the smell of smoke was very limited. Toiletries were all nitrogenous - a very nice touch - including conditioner, shampoo, body lotion, bath soap, face wash and even face cream with sunscreen. Additionally, there was a coffee maker, blow dryer and iron available. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. One of the nicest features is the free shuttle service. The shuttle will take you most places around downtown Pittsburgh free of charge. It runs on a first come first serve basis - and we just called when we were done and they picked us up. We never waited for more than 20 minutes. The shuttle drivers were wonderful and friendly. Very very helpful! The front staff was always pleasant and friendly. They offered cookies and information easily and with a can-do attitude. The housekeeper was wonderful and obliged requests without any problem. The staff was wonderful. The elevators are fast and clean - even though we were on the 16th floor, we never waited more than a minute for a lift. The only bad points were that the pool was closed (not that big of a deal) and the Bigalow Grille (inside the hotel). We ate dinner there on our last night and were very disappointed. The service was terrible and the food was awful. I would never recommend eating there to anyone. Overall, we had a wonderful stay.

Stayed here for an event at Mellon Arena. Perfect location -- walked over to the arena. Walked to Market Square for dinner and since it was pouring down rain at the time of our return, we called the hotel, they connected us to the shuttle driver who picked us up & returned us to the hotel. Room was very clean and a decent size for two people, although the bathroom was on the tiny side. Staff was very nice and helpful and the cookie they give you upon check-in was delicious! Parking is expensive at $* but we had been forewarned about the cost by other reviews. Pull in to the garage yourself in the rear of the hotel, as it's more to have the valet take your car at the front of the hotel! Had breakfast in the hotel's restaurant, which is overpriced. Advise you to eat elsewhere. All in all, we had a nice stay and I would definitely stay at the Doubletree again.

Friendly staff and spacious, clean rooms. Pool was not available for use - under construction. The Double Tree Pittsburgh is an attractive, upscale hotel with clean, spacious rooms, a courteous staff, and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Stayed there for a night with a couple friends b/c of a concert at the mellon arena across the street. Paying to park is ridiculous, walk to the hotel if you can (kidding). The location was amazing, should have a mini fridge in the room. The pool was disappointing, 2 of my friends and myself went to go down into the pool when we were first told (when we walked in) that we needed a parent in order to use the pool. When we explained that we were all over the age of 20, the girl felt stupid, then let us back to the pool. When we got to the pool there was a swim class going on, when the girl at the front desk followed us back there and told us that it "slipped her mind" that there was a class back there. Other than that, it's an awesome hotel.

The hotel offers a complemetary shuttle that will take you downtown but is within walking distance of anything that you need to reach. It was a 15 minute walk to the pirates game which made it easy to get to the game without having to find parking or fight traffic.

Comfort of beds. The workout room had been moved for renovation and the equipment in temporary room was not clean.

This used to be a Ramada Inn so I was somewhat reluctant to stay here. However, I was pleasantly suprised - great check in experience, friendly staff, best fitness facility in the city and free, free internet access. The hotel restaurant - Bigelow Grille was wonderful. I stay at the Omni last year but the Doubletree has Suites for the price of a standard room at the Omni.

The hotel was in a great part of the city, very accessible to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The shuttle service was great! We didn't drive anywhere all weekend. The only problem we had was with the valet. The only time we did get our car out of the garage it took over 45 minutes to get our car, and we eventually went to retrieve it ourselves at the garage. The manager of the garage was very rude and began yelling at us that it wasn't his fault the service was so slow, there were just too many cars. When the issue was brought to the attention of the hotel staff, they apologized and explained that the valet employees were not hotel employees, the garage is leased and run by another company. The hotel manager did compensate our valet expense due to the lack of service.

"Poor customer service, below average facilities, over pricing and paying extra for parking was extreme. Go somewhere else to enjoy your trip to Pittsburgh."

hotel was nice. I thought pricey for what you get; but, charging for parking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 38 dollars for 2 days! they claimed the parking garage was separate entity. must say dumb on my forehead. they had a passageway and the hotel elevator from the garage as well as being able to pay at the registration desk for garage charges. restaurant experience was awful. food sucked and very pricey. if going, eat somewhere else. they have a CREATIVE CHEF who over cooks the pasta and the fish made my daughter sick. she threw up all night long. for this lovely meal we paid 66 bucks plus.
