Location fantastic. Within walking distance to everything. The Old Savannah Tour guide, [...], was great and made the history of the city come alive. Concierge was quick and helpful in the beginning, but when it was time to check out, they were less enthused.

Location. No mention of the $17.50 per day valet parking if you don't pay you don't park. Great location, friendly staff, nice room, easy walking distance to restaurants, and local attractions. Was not pleased with valet parking that you have to pay $17.50.

Hotel appears to be upscale when entering the lobby, but do not be deceived. The first room we were given smelled awful, so we asked for another room. This one did not smell as bad, but was located on the side of a busy and very noisy Bay St. If you can sleep through the night with constant traffic, sirens, and horns this is the place for you. If you are a young person out for a good time, you will enjoy having drunk guests coming in at 3 AM kicking your doors and partying in the halls. Hotel security seemed to be accustomed to this type of behavior of their guests, but did little to quiet them down. We were going to stay an extra day to sight see in my hometown, but 2 nights was all I could tolerate. Not planning to return to this hotel again. On the plus side, the cookies and towels were nice.

This was my wife and I's first time alone in 3 years. We really needed it,lol. The room was nice, no view, but that OK. The bed itself was awesome, my Wife loved it. The location was really great also, 1 block from the riverfront, 5 minute walk to Paula Deens . We walked so much Sunday night and had a really good time, the super comfortable bed was greatly appriecieated later in the evening, lol.

The rooms were adequate, however street noise was excessive and the curtains let in too much light. The ice machine on our floor was inop. The elevators were very slow, and the parking fee of $17.50/day I thought was high. The hotel restaurant was aweful.

Hotel was nicely situated close to River Street and shopping. Went the weekend before St. Patrick's Day and the noise was unbelievable! Could hardly sleep for the noise of the partiers and for the police, rescue squad and fire sirens. I hope to book a room in a quieter location next time. Our daughter goes to school in Savannah and we have actually stayed at a comperable hotel for less $ and no valet parking. This was an extra $17.50/day, kind of tough to take in this economy and room was a premium price. The room was clean and the best were comfy. No free breakfast.

The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Andre was the man. Kept those warm cookies coming! The conceirge desk was helpful and knowledgeable of the city and what to see and do.The hotel was very comfortable and decorated nice for the holdiays. It was easy to talk to other travelers in the common rooms.Great location as far a touring the area. We walked alot and loved being close to the river. We were dissapointed in the breakfast. This was the only meal we ate in the resturant. Very substandard compared to the rest of the experience.

It was a period of poor weather with frequent showers. However, the hotel was admirably sited to take advantage of breaks in the weather to sight-see, shop or to go out to dine. Although we learned that the hotel had previously held a stock of umbrellas to loan to visitors [with deposit on hotel bill], but all had been removed. Replacement action was required. English tea ran out on day 2 breakfast; closer attention required to deal with conservative british tastes!

I like the location, the employees were nice. The room was small with to much furniture, bathtub could be a health hazard the way it dip in the middle. I really thought the hotel was in a good location. The employees were nice. The lobby and lounge were nice. To much furniture for that small space. No sitting space for 2 people to enjoy theTV with one chair. The air conditioner couldn't be adjusted hot or cold.

upon arrive, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean but very basic; the room was humid but we thought nothing of it since most hotels only use the fan when the room is unoccupied- we turned on the air- medium then went to bed. The room never cooled, we turned the air on high and it still never cooled and the humidity remained very high (about like it was outside). The TV was out of color and the shower curtain would not stay closed- or open to one side, the rod was bent and the curtain now hangs over the toilet. I felt these MIGHT be excusable until I asked about checking out early because we were unable to sleep due to the high humidity and warm temp in the room. The front desk apologized and questioned why I didn't have engineering come fix it last night (I assume she must have felt it wasn't that bad if I didn't complain sooner) I was told I would have to pay a early cancellation fee. I then informed her about the vomit in the elevator when she explained it has been there all night. When I asked her to repeat that, she said "well, it's been there for about two hours, we'll have house keeping clean it up when they arrive in about an hour." I don't know about you but I can understand equipment failing but for someone to have an attitude like that- it's too gross for me to clean up but my guess can put up with it... that is not a hotel I care to stay at nor my customers or co-workers/management. Think about that next time you plan to book there.

The Doubletree overall was excellent. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a very nice view. We were in comfortable walking distance to River street and lots of good restaraunts, pubs, and shopping. Don't waste your money on breakfast in the restaraunt. The food is only OK and the service was very slow every morning. The concierge, valets, and bartenders were excellent. Housekeeping discarded some important papers after we checked out, but when I called back and spoke with the manager, he gave a sincere apology and a complimentary night's stay. Excellent customer service!

Our trip got off to a rocky start when we arrived at the hotel to find that they overbooked by 4 rooms and that we would not be staying the night, despite making the reservations 4 months prior. We had to stay at another hotel down the street the first night and then move back to the Doubletree for the remainder of the trip. The upside was being comped for the first night and free breakfast for the rest of the stay there. However, the management did not seem apologetic at all that alot of time in the beginning of our trip was wasted finding other accommodations and then moving back to the hotel. After that, the hotel was nice to stay in and use the pool. The room we had was nice but did not have a minifridge, which was a downside. Also the bathroom counter was way too tiny for all of the items we had to use in there. The bed was nice and the hotel's location really couldn't be beat. Right down by the river and near City Market, both a must-see in Savannah.

Desk staff was very friendly, had to replace my door card each day because it wouldn't work. Elevator waiting time. Stair signs. I do not like that you have to pay for the continental breakfast. I paid valet fees and tips. No money left. I like the hotel. People were very friendly. I just think that if I pay a lot for a hotel I should at least get a refrigerator and microwave. I have stayed at the Hampton Inn for much less and have had these offered. I felt pressured using the valets. I was offered no explanation at the desk about the alternative of no valet. I felt taken for that one.

The only positive we can say about this hotel is the location, and the chocolate chip cookies that they give you on check in. We tried three different rooms, before we settled on one that wasn't filthy. Although the last one seemed to be clean, the drapes were torn, the shower rod was rusty, and the walls were scuffed. The room had a very cold apperance, and were lacking pictures on most of the walls. The hotel in general was very run down. The carpets and elevators were both dirty and worn. We were told that they would lower our rate, for all of our trouble, but when the bill was slipped under our door, it was for the original amount. On check out, we requested to speak to a manager, and were told that he had stepped out, but would call us, he never did.

Liked the hotel and the people. Close to the river and the City Market. The rooms were nice, but would have liked more than one wastebasket. Our bathtub was very slow to drain. When making the reservation I did not see anything about the $15.00 a day valet parking. You cannot access your car unless they bring it up from the underground garage. I might have made a different decision when booking, but we did get a good room rate, so I guess it all evened out. All in all we had a great time. Oh, and bring a 4 cup coffee pot and real coffee cause they only have decaf and a crazy coffee maker thingy. But..... the hotel coffee is good if you have a great hubby that will go and get it for you!

Staff were fabulous (along with the warm cookies upon checkin). Problem with the phone going straight to VM. Staff were there within minutes to resolve the issue. The whirlpool wasn't working-- only negative comment regarding the stay. Excellent ocation! Block from City Market and only a few blocks from River street. Cannot express enough how impressed I was with staff; they were ALWAYS the epitome of professionalism, fun and smiling. Having never been to Savannah, I relied on user feedback for the hotel selection. I made the best choice. I would definitely stay here again.
