Stayed here while visiting family in the area. Hotel is in a beautiful setting right on the marina. Bar and restaurant surrounded by windows with Awesome view of sunset, marina and GG bridge. Rooms and hotel recently remodeled. Beds are super comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Free parking

I was going to a dance in Berkeley and wanted the convenience of not having to make the long drive home. I was very pleased with the peaceful atmosphere of the nearby marina and lovely views across the bay to San Francisco. Also nearby was open space with walking trails and gradual hills where families enjoyed themselves flying their kites. The hotel had 2 pools on site, a "Kid Pool" geared for families, as well as a separate Adults pool area which was a real treasure !

The hotel property itself was fine. Our room was clean and served our purpose well. The check-in process was a bit of a wait and could be described as efficient, but not very welcoming or friendly. There was no offer or hint of the famous Doubletree chocolate cookies either. Since we had an early morning appointment the following morning, I tried to take advantage of the in-room breakfast by filling out the menu choice card and hanging it outside our door by the deadline. Unfortunately, there was no breakfast arrival at the requested time. On calling down to room service, I did get apologies, but nothing much else. There was no remedy offered except for vouchers for additional room service or meals at the restaurant. As we were very short on time to get to our appointment and couldn't wait or sit down for a meal, we were unable to use those options. Overall, decent facilities, but the service left much to be desired.

Beautiful bay views from nearby park, convenient parking, comfy beds. Nothing. Clean, well-maintained hotel right on the bay in Berkeley. The rooms were quite nice, the staff was cheerfully helpful. There was a business center with 2 PCs that were free to use. It's right next to a park that just out into the bay that was a nice place to walk. And we even got an extra couple of their tasty chocolate chip cookies!

we really enjoyed our 6 day stay @ the doubletree @ the berkeley marina. the setting is lovely, with gorgeous views across the bay. set apart in a peaceful area but still with easy access to Berkeley. the shuttle drivers were wonderful freindly & helpful. the lounge & restaurant are what you expect @ a hotel: overpriced & mediocre, but very physically pleasant - comfortable couches, views of the marina, smiling & attentive staff. the fitness center, pool, spa & sauna were large, clean, well stocked with water, towels, etc. one morning the sauna was not working but it was repaired by the next day. we'd stay again for sure -

It's a fine location, adjacent to Marina on bay. Spacious, attractive. We were put in a handicapped room, a little restricted room. It's a fine facility - although we weren't placed in the best of rooms. Good for handicapped folks - we're not so (although both 80).

We did think the location was great, and the service was fine (although I did have to wait quite a while to check in). However, the hotel was full of college kids, mostly sports teams. The walls were paper thin, and we heard kids running the halls, shouting, and scraping chairs across the concrete balconies all three nights we were there. We had trouble going to sleep before midnight, and were awoken at least a couple times every night by the noise. I asked for a different room/location after the first night, but was told that the hotel was fully booked and nothing was available. To make matters worse, the HVAC unit in the room was extremely loud, although this did have the benefit of partially drowning out the other noise. I thought I had secured a decent deal by opting for the hotel's "non-refundable" rate, but regret it now because we couldn't easily change hotels after our first night -- cynically speaking, maybe this is why this hotel offers such deals. We won't be staying at this hotel again, and I wouldn't recommend it for families or business people.

The best thing about my stay was Danny, the shuttle driver. He is the most courteous, friendly, helpful shuttle driver I have ever met. In addition to driving us to, and picking us up from BART stations, he was happy to drive us wherever in Berkeley we wished to go, made a point of telling us he would be happy to pick us up, and even watched out for our return if we didn't call and took a cab instead. He wanted to make sure all his travelers got back safely. Doubletree's chocolate chip cookies really are exceptional. We were not the only ones who finagled more than just the courtesy cookie on arrival. I know they sell them, but I really think they should have a cookie time for guests, say 8pm... other hotels do it. The location on the bay is very nice. Buildings 2 and 3 are old, with hall carpet that looks like it is from the 1960s. The rooms, however, are contemporary and comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here for a convention he attended. The room was lovely and the staff were courteous and extremely helpful. The hotel is along the marina and had lovely views. The only unfortuante thing about the hotel is that it is not in town, nor in comfortable walking distance to restaurants or anything else. There is an available shuttle, but it would have been nice to be able to wander somewhere other than along the marina. I would stay here again, but I am comfortable driving in new areas. For those who are not, this may not be the place for you.

The desk people were very friendly and helpful. The waitresses could use training; we waited five minutes to get waited on and I had to ask for water twice. I don't want fawning service but attentiveness is expected. The food was OK. The room was nice.

Free parking, proximity to water, and pleasant staff. Must have a vehicle, not on main road, not close to shops. A good place to stay if you have a vehicle. It is a bit of the beaten path so you cannot walk to shops nor catch local transportation. Also it is a long walk with luggage from parking spaces to rooms. There is no luggage assistance or carts that I could discern. The restaurant while having a great view of San Francisco Bay has a dreadful menu and terrible food. It is understaffed and service matches the quality of the food served. Strangely enough room service meals were slightly better. As a female traveler I was a bit nervous driving in at night as the location seems isolated and the parking lot not well lit. On the upside if you have kids with you or are into jogging it is adjacent to jogging trails and waterfront parks. The beds were extremely comfortable and the ladies that cleaned were friendly and efficient.

We stayed 2 nights and had nothing but problems. Our keys didn't work after the first day, then when one got rekeyed the other didn't work and visa versa. Our room was not serviced at all even though someone knocked on my door to ask if we were leaving and when I said no, we are here another night, I asked to have fresh towels she told a housekeeper in the hall. When I told the front desk (if you want to call the temporary one that) about getting my room cleaned later in the day, I was told "We have until 4:00 to do it." Then at 7:00 when we got back to the room and it still wasn't done, they sent us fresh towels. The construction was unbelievable. The area in front of the pool was filled with workers who would stare at you as you walked through trying to find the make-shift front desk. There was no way I was going to use the pool with them right there. A little privacy from the construction crew would have been nice!

My husband and I recently stayed at this property for a full week. We are in CA frequently to visit family and grandchildren and found this to be the best place to stay. We were upgraded at checkin. A nice surprise! The staff was friendly and helpful; the restaurant a bit pricey for breakfast but the food and service were very good. We hope that they do not raise their rates as we would definitely stay there again when we return in Dec.
