The hotel staff was so friendly and the location was right near Third Street and the 10.

The first sight of lobby when you enter is breathtaking, the hotel strives to serve all your needs. This hotel far above exceeded our expectations. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

We were only staying in Santa Monica one night but we were hoping to have one night at a nice hotel. The hotel was definitely not worth the money. With parking and taxes it came to $*** for one night. The room was just ok. Not very clean. Stains on the furniture and seemed older and outdated. When we went to use the fitness center, it smelled so bad we couldn't stay in there. And it was further from the pier and shopping than I thought it was too. It was a $7 cab drive to the pier. All in all, it was just ok! Not worth the money.

the hotel is fairly close to the beach, the facilities are nice but not great, the price is pretty high for what you get but is ok compared to other places close to the beach. the only problem was that i reserved the room through travel website for 289. they charged me 308 and when i showed the clerk the confirmation from travel website for 289 he basically said it was a mistake by travel and would not give me the agreed rate. i had to call travelocity who called the clerk and he still would not change the rate until he got a faxed confirmation from travel agent, despite the fact that i had a written printout from travelocity showing 289. i wasted 20 minutes dealing with him and talking to travelocity. I then asked for the manager who was very contrite and helpful. so the manager gets an "A" and the clerk gets a "D".

Did the typical touristy stuff

First room we had smelled, so we had to change rooms. The second room they gave us was not very clean, and it had cigarette butts all over the patio. The parking was confusing. The staff seemed unhappy; especially the guy serving coffee at the Starbucks counter. The pool was okay, but the spa temp was set way too high. I had to lower the temp myself. The furniture needs cleaning, and the pool at hotel just seemed a bit run-down and poorly maintained.

We found the hotel to be very attractive and the help was friendly and helpful. However, the rooms are very noisey. We could hear every word the people in the room next to us said. And they were speaking quietly. Then, when the man in the room next door was banging on his door at 1AM I thought someone was trying to break down our door!! Soundproofing is needed!

The hotel's service was friendly and efficient -- what you'd expect from the Hilton-owned chain. Self-parking in the basement garage is $18/day (summer 2009) with in/out privileges. We had a car, so we appreciated the hotel's proximity to the 10 Freeway. Those without cars would find plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel (see note below).

Nice beds, clean room, good bath and friendly staff. Expensive parking $18/day and drinks $12 per day. Hotel is large and very clean; garage parking can be accessed from hotel lobby elevator. Hotel has nice bar off lobby and outdoor pool and exercise area. Single room we had included separate area with TV and couch was very nice. Large bath with tub/shower.

I stayed at the Doubletree for 2 weeks while having surgery locally. I am from across the country and was looking for a comfortable hotel which would be entertaining for my husband and had good room service for me during my incapacitation. What I found was a beautiful, clean, and friendly hotel which was perfect for our stay. It was a close walk for the beach and the promenade. The staff was helpful and generous with their chocolate chip cookies. The pool and gym were great. I plan on returing there for my next visit. It is worth the price for such a clean and comfortable night's sleep so close to the beach and shopping.

The room was tiny, way too expensive for what you got, the tv only had state-run media channels ( no FOX News), they made it too easy to inadvertently do pay-per-view, parking costs were exorbitant, the cookies were nice, bad arrangement for coffee maker, shower was not very good, it was mostly clean and I felt safe walking at night. I was left feeling ripped-off. For the price, I was expecting a much nicer facility.

Delicious cookies. Rooms on freeway side are a bit noisy.

My husband and I had to find last minute accomodations when we needed to stay in Santa Monica an additional day. The six (6) Santa Monica hotels that I called stated very snootily that I really need to give them a 2 week notice to reserve a room. They very rarely can accomodate last minute requests such as mine. When I called the Doubletree, expecting the same lukewarm response, I was pleasantly surprised to get the totally opposite reaction from the Reservations dept. They said to, please, come over and they would have our room ready as soon as we could get there. So nice. This is a Hotel, not some glorified motor inn that you pay */night for. The lounge is very nice, food is great and the people are extremely friendly. We will be back!

The hotel staff was always nice and helpful no matter the time of the day. I wanted more tea and they brought it right away. I would say that the only negative thing to say about this hotel is that the hotel restarant was not good. it was over priced and the food was not worth it. Not a good value for the money. We had to wait about 5 minutes before anyone even came to seat us the one time we ate there and we were the only people there. $ 20 for a hanburger is not a good value when you could have gone to McDonals and gotten a better tasting one cheeper - not saying much for the chef.

Great location in Santa Monica. Restaurant was very expensive and not very good. I got an excellent deal on Priceline. The trouble was I could not ask for 2 beds and the hotel would not take my request over the phone. I had to wait to get there to ask for a room with two beds. The front desk clerk was so sweet she gave me a suite.

We stayed here for a function close by. This hotel rating is a bit misleading. although it was clean it has no character and I felt I was in a upgraded Motel 6. I would not stay there again for the money.

The hotel was very clean, the maid would come and clean the room daily, making the bed, replacing towels with clean ones, putting more coffee in the machine, general cleaning etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly, always on hand to help- Willingly which is a bonus! Location was perfect- 5min walk to beach- safe area, 3min walk to shopping area. Lots of public transport which is safe and runs regularly. Not too far from Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and other attraction like Disney and Universal Studios- we were able to get so much done in 5 days. Price was very reasonable from CheapTickets.com. Hotel have link with tour guides which will take you to the places mentioned above plus many more. Overall a very nice place, i would stay there again, not only with friends but family too! Had an amazing time!

Wonderful having two living spaces since we have kids. View of the homeless shelter! Spacious room with separate living area with fold out couch which was great for the kids. Large bathroom with nice toiletries.
