There were 4 girls in a 1200 sq feet space! So you know we were happy! These Suites were really really nice, it consisted of a main bedroom, kitchen with pots, pans, mugs, plates etc and a full living room with balcony! We had enough space for all our stuff and move around comfortably. The Dorchester was situated in a very good area..a short 5 minute walk to the beach..and near restaurants and other really nice hotels! The pool was nice, could have been a bit bigger but was still nice...and they offered happy hour from 7-8pm...most people were nice...with the exception of one manager...all in all...it was a really nice property...and don't sweat the small stuff!

The room was nicely remodeled. Parts were very run down. Difficulty getting things from front desk. This was worth the money for a decent hotel in south beach. The beach is right across the street, but the heart of the night life is further down Collins Ave. This hotel is at 18th, but there are more things to do closer to 14th and down. All in all, it was great. No real problems. Ask for a remodeled room.

We knew that check-in was at 3:00 pm, but we arrived in Miami at 10:00 am and my husband had the worst migraine with nausea. The hotel was full and no one had checked out yet. The front desk and housekeeping staff did everything they could to get us in a room as soon as possible. They had a room ready for us 20 minutes after someone had checked out. We were incredibly grateful. The location was excellent, and within walking distance to so many great places. We loved the hotel's ambiance as well.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Dorchester on 7-10-08 thru 7-13-08. This was a girl's escapade! My friend & I were quite impressed with the hotel. We were almost certain that we were going to be staying in a DUMP based on the reviews we had read. However, it was definitely the opposite! Whatever you do: DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS...THEY OVER EXAGGERATE! THE STAFF: Pleasant & helpful THE ROOM: Two very comfortable queen size beds, with white sheets & a white bed spread, which definitely lets you know that it is clean! We requested a renovated room, so we had hard wood floors, which were swept & mopped daily. The bathroom was small, but clean. Towels & toiletries were stocked daily. The 19 inch tv was out-dated , but who cares? We came to South Beach to par-tay!!! The a/c unit was an oldie, but goodie. Our room was aleast 60 degrees or cooler (burr!). Other reviews complained about the walls being thin, but we didn't hear anything. We slept like babies for 3 nights! THE POOL AREA: Was decent. There was a poolside bar. Happy hour was daily from 7p-8p. Only cheap liquors were free! THE HALLWAYS: You could tell the carpet was worn & old, but they filled the hallways with a pleasant air freshener daily. THE LOBBY: Was very artsy & contemporary. Having an ATM was very convenient & safe. The piano was a great accent to any photo shot! PARKING: Seemed to be a little congested, but workable. ***Just keep in mind that this is NOT a 5 star hotel, only a 3 1/2! For the price, it is definitely a steal! Very convenient to SB & just a quaint, comfortable, clean place to stay if you are looking to explore more of South Beach and not the actual room! Perfect for a girl's or guy's trip only! Wouldn't plan a romantic getaway here.

We enjoyed the funky retro vibe of this hotel. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was a little worn but for the money was fine. It was within walking distance to the beach and to David's Cafe. All in all it was a good experience and would stay here again.

Older hotel but in good shape. We checked in very early not expecting to get a room, just to leave our bags. They put us in a suite (at no extra cost) because no regular rooms were ready, so we were very happy with them from the start. The suite was huge, much more than we needed, and very clean. Not a deluxe hotel, but fine for us. There is a nice pool and courtyard area. The location is really good, Lincoln Road is only 2 blocks away and the beach is one block.

The Dorchester Hotel was an inviting and satisfactory relief from our previous accommodations at the Days Inn 2 blocks down the street. We were allowed to see the room before checking in and immediately fell in love with the newly installed hardwood floors, the white bedding, and the clean bathroom. And there was no black ring in the toilet as we had discovered in our previous hotel. The hotel lobby was fabulously decorated in reds and black with a true Art Deco ambience. It made a splendid backdrop to some great pictures. All the staff that we encoutered were extremely courteous, polite, and knowledgeable ,especially the concierge Henry and the bartender Erez. Even though there were several language barriers among some of the staff, our requests for service were always cordially and expediently met. However, we do suggest intalling microwaves, flat screen TVs, and/or a full service restaurant on site. The only meal choice available was a buffet or continental breakfast. Room service would have been a nice ammenity. And the bathroom sink definitely needs a plug.

The tropical setting of this hotel made it very private and quiet. The pool was awesome with nice chairs to lounge in and a poolside bar. Drinks are expensive in Miami so bring your own! The suites are more than adequate for 4 ladies. Only one bathroom though so beware. Overall, would stay there again.

We were very happy with this hotel and would stay here again. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and bathroom was updated with a nice sized shower. Our room faced the street which was a little noisy at night, but that will be the case in any South Beach hotel with rooms facing the street. The hotel is just a few blocks from everything and we always felt safe. The lobby was very nice and the staff was accommodating and helpful.

Last time in SB I stayed right on the beach and was happy, this time went with a bigger group so we were trying to save a little money. Not worth it! Hotel was conviniently located and cheap but that's about it. Big room but smelled moldy, and very loud. Pool is ok but never went in it, and there is no bar servers, not sure where that person got that from. My friend stayed across street so we ended up hanging out at their pool. For a package deal, go ahead and spend the extra money and stay right on the beach, and a nicer room.

The Dorchester is right across the street from the beach, has a great pool, and is very close to Lincoln Road, Collins, + Ocean Drive. It was a great deal for being so close to all the action. It was clean, the people at the hotel spoke Spanish and were very friendly. We were very comfortable throughout our entire vacation there.

I had a wonderful experience. For the price the room was great! No there's no flat screen TV or anything but who's in Miami to watch TV...the staff was great...gave me passes to some nearby night clubs. Everything was within walkin distance...the Lincoln Rd. shops...which had great dinning choices from pizza to fine dinning...and good shopping. The beach is about 2 blks away that was definately a plus! The bartender at the hotel was very entertaining brought a lot of energy to the one hour free drink happy hour....that was also a plus. My only bad thing to say is that I reserved a non-smoking room but when I got there I had to take smoking...which there were windows and a nice breeze that aired it out. Would definately stay again :)

I stayed January 2007. I spent numerous hours researching hotels in South Beach, and this seemed like a good one. The website was beautiful. I had a queen bed. When I checked in, I asked if there were any upgrades available. The front desk attendant was playing video games and briefly ignored me. I was told that the hotel is under renovation, and the 2nd floor was closed. Parking was 25 a night. I thought that was a bit high. I paid for one day of parking and then went down the street to 16th St and parked for 8. I suggest unloading in the hotel 20 minute zone and then parking down the street to save money. It's 1/hr. with 8 max. The room smelled..the carpet was old and stained, and had been repaired with newer carpet patches, making several patches of bright green carpet mixed with the old worn and dull green carpet. The bed had a HUGE dip in it. I could see before I even laid down. I found my sleep very uncomfortable and kept rolling toward the center. The blinds (vertical shades) in the bathroom were falling down...I could see the screw between the shades and the top of the window. There were also cobwebs. Also outside street noise was loud and halway had an open door to the street..anyone could walk in...not safe. On the positive side, the lobby was nice, the pool looked nice (I didn't go) the room was a decent size, and the bathroom was nicely tiled with wall paint on the edges of the mirror. If I were to do it again, I would have paid a bit more and stayed at another hotel. Location was also pretty good....close to Lincoln. Hope this review helped you...good

HOtel charged $25 for parking and they had no parking left. Would not refund money. Had us wait outside until a parking spot became available. My wife, 9 month old son, and I waited in the van for a good 30 min. before someone had left. When they left we were able to get a parking spot. The room was advertised as remodeled. Ha, well not ours. If you consider, tape on the door, unfinished floors, and an unworking air conditioner "remodeled" so be it. We plained and they offered a $20 credit. This hotel is ran by gypsi's.

Booked 5 rooms. Dorchester is two buildings. And two distinct stories. An older 4 story on Collins Ave with a newer 2 story building in the courtyard behind the original building. Walkable or cheap cab to most of South Beach.Four of our rooms were king suites in newer building. Rooms spacious. Great rooms. Ask for these if available. My room was in older building. Nice king bed, but carpet/drapes were tired and worn. Bathroom was recently redone and shower was great. Some noise from street, but that goes with staying in urban area. Parking was tight.Staff was great, but rooms were not ready when we arrived at 5:00pm. Had to wait 15 minutes, but it was a very busy time of year. Breakfast was good, but not cheap. Cable TV channels limited, but we weren't watching much TV.

The dorechester was nice for what I paid. Room was spacious and was cleaned daily. The pool was nice and had a bar. There was also a nice patio area outside. I cannot speak on how the food was because I did not eat at the hotel. The beach is within walking distance. There is a pizza shop right across the street (sells pizza only late night/early morning).

The hotel has nice decor and the front desk staff is friendly. They were able to let us check into one of our rooms early which was cool because we arrived there around 11AM. The pool area was nice and stayed open all night, which was nice after a long night. The location of the hotel is okay because its only 1 1/2 blocks away from the beach but a few blocks away from SoBe nightlife and restaurants. The only complaints I have is that on the first night I found a bug in one of the beds, which the guy from the front desk promptly came and killed. But did not offer any other type of accomodation for the inconvenience. The day before our check out, both keys didn't work to get in the room and I had to get the front desk to help. And finally, they charge a dollar for each bag to be held if you're not checked in. Which would have been okay, if the bellhop didn't ignore his walkie talkie when we were ready to go because our shared ride was waiting and he was no where to be found. Overall the stay was okay and the room provided its service - clean place to sleep and shower.
